NASA just revealed Unexpected SpaceX Crew 11 Return Date in Days! Boeing Starliner to Launch?
Boeing’s Starliner is back in the spotlight, as the situation aboard the International Space Station becomes increasingly urgent.
At the moment, SpaceX’s Crew Dragon is the only crewed spacecraft handling the entire astronaut rotation schedule, and it’s facing a real risk of overload.
That’s because one astronaut on the ISS has reportedly suffered a serious medical issue, prompting NASA to make the rare decision to bring the entire Crew-11 mission back to Earth earlier than planned.
So when exactly will Crew-11 return? And could this crisis finally force NASA to move faster on Starliner?
Let’s find out in today’s episode of Alpha Tech.

Recently, space forums and news outlets have been buzzing about reports of an astronaut experiencing a health issue aboard the ISS. And this is how the story started.
Back in August, Crew-11, made up of four astronauts: Commander Zena Cardman from NASA, Mike Fincke from NASA, Kimiya Yui from Japan’s Jaxa, and Oleg Platonov from Russia’s Roscosmos, launched to the ISS aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft. The mission was planned to last about six months, with a return scheduled for late February 2026.
However, on January 7th, NASA teams on the ground received a request for medical assistance for the first time involving one of the Crew-11 members. The primary communicator at the time was Kimiya Yui. What immediately raised eyebrows was that during this exchange, NASA’s official YouTube livestream, where public audio communications are normally broadcast, was simultaneously cut off.

After that, NASA did not disclose what kind of medical issue was involved. There was no confirmation of injury, radiation exposure, or even whether it was something as minor as an illness. Since it was reportedly not a life-threatening emergency, ground teams provided guidance remotely.
But the situation began to shift on January 8th morning, when NASA announced the cancellation of a scheduled spacewalk that day, originally planned for external maintenance and hardware installation on the ISS, citing “medical concerns” as the reason.
And that’s when the story really started to explode.
