Joey and I head out to Mountain View to put Daisy Chain (a modded) WR250R through it's paces on the motocross track. Can this dual sport hold up to the punishment of the track?? Watch and find out!
Meet Daisy Chain, a WR250R, boasting a 290 Athena kit and hot cam stroker crank, giving
her 310cc's of pure pain.
But can she hold up to the stresses of a motocross track?
This week on Nest Up Productions we hand her over to Nest Up rider Joey Lancaster to see
what this bike is made of.
Is she just a dual sport or can she hang out on the motocross track with all the big boys?
Stay tuned to find out and don't forget to subscribe.
Alright here we are at Mountain View, little moto test, the infamous Daisy Chain.
I'm told it's an 09 WR250R, it's got some engine work done to it, I'm sure you can read
in the comments about that because I ain't going to try to tell you right now.
She's ready to roll.
Everybody's wondering what kind of bike I'm on and why I'm rolling out there right now.
Go check it out.
There's another dual sport-er.
Oh, front tire's definitely a DOT approved.
Oh, she's about as soft as my couch.
I think right off the bat, like my only first complaint I would have, actually let's start
out with positives because I hate it when people complain.
The positives is I could have rode this here and now be out on the track, that's the best
part about a dual sport.
I could use a little bit more compression on the front of the forks.
Rear shock feels okay though.
Just got to be careful of that front tire.
The bar to seat height though, the bar to seat height is good, just the peg to seat
height is definitely different.
We're on the outside here.
The front just wants to dive off of all the lips here at Mountain View.
Let's go, let's pass this guy.
Shift down.
Man.
The more you twist the grip, the faster she wants to go.
Ha ha ha.
Uh oh, uh oh.
Lost my fuel vent hose, she's starting to spit gas at me.
Whoa.
Uh oh, Rory Sullivan's trying to pass us here.
Ah, he's trying to take us out.
We might have a little bit of clutch slip right there.
Let's honk at him.
Is he going to pass us?
Nope.
I think the KX450 has just a little bit more power and corners slightly better.
Goes through the whoops alright.
Oh, there's our fuel hose.
I think I just got splashed in the stomach with fuel.
So, if you're planning on doing a bit of moto, let's go to the inside, use some brake action
there.
If you're planning on, wow the front end really wants to, really wants to go all over the
place.
But, if you're planning on doing a little bit of moto or at least wanting to do a little
bit more aggressive moto on one of these, I would definitely look into, uh, and I know
a little bit of suspension work's been done to this, but I don't know exactly what's been
done to it though, but I would definitely look into upping your spring rate.
Well, obviously depending on your, depending on your weight and your, how aggressive you
want to get on it.
Definitely, you know, going up a couple of spring rates actually, because it wants to
dive.
I don't know, it's a hard decision because when you're doing dual sport, usually you're
carrying something on the back, so that's going to take up a lot of the, uh, try this
hill without shifting down.
Anyhow, what I was saying is, uh, you know, usually you're going on an adventure, right?
Because that's what dual sporting's all about.
Ooh, got it from the inside.
Um, you got to play with spring rates, because how much gear are you bringing on the back?
How, how, what's your weight?
What's your, uh, and again, like I was saying, how aggressive do you want to get?
That and a front tire.
I know on my XR650, I'll run a, uh, non-DOT front tire, just because you don't want to
lose the front end when you decide to go off-road.
Especially on a heavy dual sport.
Oh, there's another problem right there, so as I lean back through the whoops to really
try to get on the back of the bike, the, uh, rear rack hits me in the ass.
So that would be a, that would be a problem if you really got aggressive.
But I think for the average guy, being able to ride to the track, and then, uh, out on
the track, it can be done with a few adjustments.
Birds!
Get out of the way!
I'm doing a test here!
So there you go.
If you want to do a little adventure, and put some moto into some adventure, grab yourself
the, uh, WR250, couple of adjustments, and go have some fun.
