Commit to the Lift
#Melindafrenchgates #People
Mandy Moore, John Legend, Brene Brown and other leading authors and journalists joined Melinda Gates on The Moment of Lift book tour. Here's how they're committing to the lift
I'm committing to The Lift as an artist.
I'm a storyteller using my platform as an actor and as a producer
to sort of portray women and find stories of women
that are representative of people from all walks of life.
Hey, I'm Adam Grant, author and organizational psychologist.
My commitment to The Lift is to raise two feminist daughters
and a feminist son with my wife
and also to step up and mentor women
and try to open doors for access to jobs and career opportunities
that they might not otherwise have.
My name is John Legend.
I commit to The Lift by, one, making sure I work with, hire,
collaborate with women, lots of them.
And I commit to The Lift by also supporting my wife
and all of her career goals and ambitions
and also I want to raise feminist kids.
My daughter and my son,
I want them to be committed to equality for everyone
and that's another way to make sure everyone is lifted.
I commit to The Lift by doing half of the unpaid work in our family
and also by making sure that there's equity in terms of pay in our business.
I commit to continuing to mentor and uplift the next generation of women leaders
and also to be able to give voice to issues for women
who aren't always able to use their own voice.
I'm Patti Stonecipher and I commit to The Lift
by continuing to push for equity for infants, girls, and women
in education here in the United States and around the world.
I'm Patchett and I'm lifting up my slums.
Hi, I'm Jessie Hempel. I'm a technology journalist
and I commit to The Lift by making sure that throughout my career
I tell important stories about the work that women are doing
in the field that I cover, technology.
Hi, I'm Brene Brown and my commitment to The Lift
is to continue working with women, collecting stories from women,
and making sure that I can use my platform to highlight the stories, accomplishments,
and work being done by women all over the world
to make their lives and the lives of their sisters
and their brothers and their families better.
