Secretary of State Marco Rubio Meeting with Panama's President

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is traveling to Panama with four other stops in Central America and the Caribbean for six days starting Saturday. The purpose is to "advance Trump’s foreign policy," according to the State Department.

Panama President Jose Raul Mulino issued a statement ahead of Rubio’s visit: “The sovereignty of Panama over the canal is clear. There is no discussion on this subject. The soul of a country is not up for discussion.”

During a Friday press briefing, the State Department confirmed that Rubio will be meeting with President Mulino and that the Panama Canal will be discussed along with migration.

After Panama, Secretary Rubio will visit El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.
