okay y'all we're at the apple store
for buying this the clutch for the dodge
they got two different clutches they got
a uh
a regular and a heavy duty so i was like
oh hell yeah i'm gonna give me a heavy
duty
so i call i go in there and i say look
um
y'all got two different things y'all got
a regular and a heavy duty do y'all have
both of them
and this is actually the hub here in
charlotte
and they said absolutely we've got both
of them i said okay
well um how about pulling them and let
me look at them
and if there's any at all visible
difference in them
i'll buy the heavy duty right
i mean hell if you got two different
products you ought to be able to tell
the difference
well i pulled them out the clutch disc
has got the same numbers on them
it's double the price one is three
hundred one six hundred
um double the price
and it's the same clutch well there
ain't no problem with my pressure plate
there ain't no problem with my flywheel
there's no problem with my throw out
bearing
and there's no problem with my pilot
bearing so
uh why would i pay double the price for
the same clutch disc
i was hoping it was going to be a double
clutch or a double disc or
you know something along those lines and
all the research i've been doing
everybody says the double disc
like uh the uh
damn i don't forgot the name there's one
name in them
i don't forgot it somebody tell me but
the double disc they're saying
you can't hardly drive it on the street
it's more of a race
type deal and uh
hell i don't want that i want a damn i
want something i can drive up down the
road i don't want
you know break my neck no riding a
clutch it's either on or off
i mean i've got to have a little give
there where you can drive it
like backing up in that building
you know you got to kind of ride the
clutch to get
get uh straightened up enough where you
can get up in the building
so there's a couple things that you got
to have
to uh to you know make it logic
logical to use and if it's just all
clutch or no clutch i mean
that would work in some aspects
but in a lot of aspects it wouldn't work
in my application
i mean i'm going through a field of hey
i've got to kind of ease up to the next
spot and sit there with my foot on the
clutch and wait
for them to load me and then ease up to
the next spot
if it's like i'm dumping the clutch
every time i'm going to be tearing
people's
hay fields up i'm gonna be doing
you know barking tires i'm gonna be
spinning in the rain
and that's the kind of stuff that i'm
not
i'm not into i mean i'm not into
spinning tires anymore i've done got too
old for that and that tear up um
i'm more or less wanna when i ease out
on that clutch i want that damn plane to
dig and let's go
and uh everybody's going to say i'm
overloading the truck
well hell if i am the chevrolet should
fall apart it has not
so it's not the uh it's not
it's not that i'm overloading it's that
they've got a problem somewhere along
the lines and
uh they need to figure it out or i need
to figure it out one or the other i
guess it's on me at this point
but i was gonna have the transmission
fixed
i cannot have well i can't have the
transmission fixed
but it's a it's not a good business move
or business decision or
personal decision or whatever they're
basically they want to charge me a
thousand dollars to open that
transmission up to see what's wrong
inside
that's just labor to open it
plus the parts well
i can buy a remanufactured transmission
with a five year warranty on
which you don't get a warranty when
somebody rebuilds one
not that way anyway i get a five year
warranty on a
remand five-speed transmission for the
dodge
you know just plug and play basically
pull mine out and stick that one in
and it costs 1700 so why would i
gamble on having less than
six or seven hundred dollars worth of
damage
and that 1700 when you get new fluid
with you get new
uh you get new painted transmission
you you just pull it out and stick the
new one in you don't have no wait time
no nothing
i'm gonna run what a broom and uh wait
until she goes all the way out
and then i'm on a switcher just jerk it
back out
and uh put a uh
put a remand in it and be done with it
and have my five year warranty and go on
about it
they say they and them uh seventeen
hundred dollar ones they don't fix the
uh
and that's free shipping they've fixed
the
five fifth gear nut that fixed it
um i don't know enough about the
transmissions that tear them apart
and uh i tried an automatic one time
and i got it to go again it wouldn't
move at all and i
put a kit in it put it back together and
uh
it didn't it lasted about
i think it was about five miles i made
it but
i'm gonna run in here and get me
something to eat and uh
when you come back on we'll be in
jefferson i'll see you here shortly okay
here's a new pressure plate
it weighs 100 pounds but there it is
there's our new clutch disc
i don't like that it has plastic on it
this says flywheel side
that's all plastic that's probably
not good but
that's what we could buy that's the only
thing they had in stock
in charlotte this is our pilot bearing
and our alliance chef don't know how
this works
when i took my tripod down
basically this is your lineup shaft it
goes through your clutch dude
it goes through your clutch just like so
in the end of your pilot bearing
so this piece will go into your pilot
bearing in your flywheel
that will go through this clutch and it
keeps it lined up perfectly straight
and then you put your push plate on
and bolt it down and then it'll hold the
clutch then you pull your line up shaft
out
and you stick your uh sticky
transmission in
first off while we're up here where i
can actually see something
i'm going to change this
i think i am anyway once i just throw it
there
if i can figure out how to change it
um it looks like that
yep looks like you just slide it back
and twist it
let's get the new one nope
this one's a gift
that and that they look the same i think
this you just twist it like so you know
put it in there like so get some springs
lined up
just twist it right in there you go
obviously it's going to be in the middle
but it's in there
in there like swimwear so now we're
going to crawl up underneath the truck
i'm going to put the clutch in i'm going
to put the uh
i'm going to get this grease off my
hands first because you don't want to
touch clutch with grease on your hands
but i'm gonna get up under there i'm
gonna put that clutch in
i'm gonna put the line up shaft in it
and i'm gonna put this uh
pressure plate on there and bolt it all
down
and then we'll come back and we'll get
this bell housing we're going to put it
in there
we're going to tighten it up and be done
with the bell housing
and then we're going to slide the
in i mean the ginger juice
can't say so
we'll figure it all out here here's the
almighty dodge there's no lights in this
building whatsoever
so we're using the milwaukee
we got a milwaukee impact there and i've
got a milwaukee impact
on big impact in the trip i'll slide it
underneath the truck and when we go to
put the transmission in
um and we'll be back with you here
shortly
i lied i still have it they didn't take
it like i thought they did
so we'll get it set up underneath there
too
okay y'all well i see a problem that i
didn't know we had
if you look right there the pilot
bushing is gone
now we got to figure out a way to get
that damn thing out of there
without my slide hammer
see if you got a slide hammer you can
take it up in there and it's got like a
hook on it
take up in there and hook it and just
pop it right out
but i don't have my slide hammer here
i've got a new pilot bushing that ain't
no problem the problem is getting that
one out
so i've got a couple
options one of them is taking the
flywheel off
and driving it out from the back side
because i believe it's installed in the
flywheel
which you don't want to take them both
off and on
if you can help it so let me figure out
what we're going to do and i'll let
y'all know
okay y'all i did find the slide ham
okay i found the slide hammer but i've
got
it's the only end i've got so what i'm
going to try to do is use this
i didn't have a bolt so i took a bolt
out of my chevrolet that holds the
board on the bed so i'm gonna try to
catch the end of that
with the end of this nut see if i can
pop it out of there
i don't know if it's gonna work or not
but is the best choice
i got at the moment if this don't work
we'll have to find something else
but i think if i can get it
to where it'll grab
yeah see it's crap
okay i got to uh
forgot to get it in there
oh damn
i don't know if that's gonna work or not
but these damn shorts try
come on can't see what i'm doing here
oh hell we're in business see this other
side
it's just a nut that you can basically
slip stuff through
and then screw it back down
now i'm pretty sure i can get it should
be pretty easy like
that because i can hold it up
or down or left or right
if i can get that screw on you
okay now we got that
hopefully y'all can see y'all right on
me i didn't realize y'all was that close
here
hopefully y'all can see something there
okay
we got this
keep my fingers out the way
man where's that washer
with that wash real quick
i don't know if that watch will go in
there or not but we're going to try it
i doubt that washer's gonna go in there
nope that washer is not gonna go in
there
okay i'm gonna try to drive this
screwdriver around the side of it it's
already
broke um the screwdriver is i'm gonna
try to drive it in there and see if i
can get it out that way
if not i'm gonna have to try to figure
out how to cut it out of there
they're part of it
okay
bam
[Music]
i got a phone hit me in the head
i've got a damn light here hit me
i'm worried about a transmission rolling
over on me
i got an exhaust in my arm
and i got a damn 24 ounce
okay let's see
what we got here that bushing
will go right in there so
there's the bushing there's the lineup
tool
here comes the clutch hopefully y'all
can see
make sure you put where it says flywheel
side to the flywheel
oh come on now get that there
a line-up shaft see how that holds
together we ain't standing there holding
it
hopefully you don't think this because i
ain't quit now
two screws three screws four screws but
i need a
bolt five screws
six screws seven screws there's lock
nuts
eight screws
how many things
god almighty this thing weighs about 100
pounds
that's probably why i let it fall
and of course i can't see
okay there's this wrong spot
not
um
if you watch these springs will start
going in
put the hammer to it they'll start going
down
yep
[Music]
now this is one screw it looks like
i got to find it
right there it is
right there
and i'm going to check them off with
this ratchet
just to make sure they're good and tight
yeah and they tied it off
glad i'm checking
yeah that would have been a damn
disaster
son of a
run the boat off mother
well now he did it he broke the bolt off
inside the clutch
tune in next time to see if he fixes it
i'll bet he does after all
he's my brother donny make sure and
subscribe give us a thumbs up
and don't listen to him cuz
