Peel and stick solar panel provides portable power for field work applications, including: photography, videography and research. Never run out of battery power again!
Hi, I'm Mike with Stick It Solar. We're here today to show you another great application for our peel-and-stick solar panels.
If you're a videographer or photographer, or you do other kind of fieldwork where you need portable power,
then you know how frustrating it is when you're in a remote location like this and your batteries run dead.
Our peel-and-stick panels are the perfect solution for that.
What I've got here is a piece of Coroplast. It's basically just plastic cardboard.
I use this as a base so I don't have to lay the peel-and-stick panel on the dirty ground.
You just fold that out, lay it on the ground like so.
Take your panel. I put some Velcro on the back of this to hold it in place.
Just take your peel-and-stick panel, stick it in place like so.
Roll it out.
Take your extension cord coming from your inverter setup.
Plug it into your solar panel.
Turn on your inverter, and you've got portable power.
Right now I'm charging two camera batteries at once.
The setup that I've got here is just something I kind of threw together.
This is just a little plastic box that I bought from an office supplies store.
And inside of that, I've got an 8-amp-hour sealed lead-acid battery.
In the backside of that, I have a Morningstar SunGuard 12-volt battery controller.
And that's wired into this really cool little 400-watt inverter that I bought.
Now what's cool about this inverter, it has two 110 AC outlets on it.
In addition to that, in the middle is a little 5-volt USB plug.
This thing's perfect for charging iPhones, iPads, smartphones, anything that takes a USB 5-volt connector.
Now right now I'm charging two batteries at once.
These particular batteries are from a Panasonic DVX-100.
I'm able to charge both batteries at the same time without draining the battery whatsoever.
I've even tried charging one battery and running the camera at the same time straight off the solar panel.
It works great.
So if you need portable power in a remote situation like this and you've got no AC,
peel-and-stick solar panel is the way to go.
Thanks for watching.
