Maui Gigantic Surf Shuts Down Hookipa Beach Park | Jaws Macking

Just here, hawaiirealestate.org coming to you from the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii. This is one of the eighth wonders of the world in my opinion, and what is that? The monster winter swells of Hawaii. And this is one for the record books, I think. This is going to be an all-time. So I've been waiting for the right time to start this live because the sets are kind of coming in, obviously, in waves, no pun intended, but some of the sets are just absolutely enormous. I mean, it's crazy. So after this, I'm going to head down to Jaws. I don't know if I'll have any connectivity there, so I thought I would start with a little live right here just to show you guys what's happening here at Ho'okipa. So it's so big, they actually shut down the beach park, check it out. So there's Ho'okipa Beach Park right there, as you can see, not a soul is here. They had the police surrounding the gates, if you will, Maui community, county workers, I should say. But this is just a peek, if you will, into what this swell is doing today. So man, it is just all-time. That's one of the smaller waves right there. If you look down the coast, that's obviously looking towards the West Maui Mountains. I actually saw some bigger sets coming in down in that direction, just some absolute monsters, just tyrannical, no mercy, no holds barred sets, cycloptic in nature. And the amazing thing is, is there's actually going to be guys riding these sea giants over at the Jaws surf break. There's nobody here, obviously. This is way to close out, as they say. This is for the deep water, the deep, deep water breaks like Jaws, which honestly breaks like significantly, maybe once a year. So it's a big deal. Tons and tons of people are heading up there for the pilgrimage to watch it. It's about a 20-minute hike down. And I don't even know if the iPhone is giving this any justice, but it is absolutely massive. So mele kalikimaka to you guys. Merry Christmas, right around the corner. Happy holidays, happy Hanukkah, happy New Year, just get happy. These people just pulled up a chair, look at that, they're like, oh, we're just going to sit here, forget prime time, we got some Norswell action to watch. Right there is basically the beach that's at Mama's Fish House, right there where those palm trees are, just to give you some, because everybody knows where Mama's Fish House is, right? Second highest-grossing restaurant in the country. And obviously that's the West Maui Mountains, but all over the island right now, there's just this mist, this sea mist that's just encapsulating everything inland. And the smell, it's almost like the ocean takes up residence on the land. Now here's a shot of a lot of jet skiers going back and forth right now. Those jet skiers are heading out to Jaws, obviously, for tow-in. Look at this one, look at this one. Huh? Oh, that's crazy. Oh, man, there's a little peel right there, a little small kind barrel, anyone? You know it's big when the surfers are taking a pass. Look at that. Oh, just a wall of clothes out. I don't know if these lifeguards have been kind of cruising up and down the coast with like flippers, fins, you know, we call them here fins, and snorkel mask, I don't know if they're looking for dead bodies or what. But man, what a beautiful, gorgeous, awesome, beautiful winter day. This is what we live for here in Hawaii, man. This is what we all dream of in the middle of the doldrums of summer, while the rest of the world is getting another kind of white called the snow. This is our kind of white right here. And there's a surf contest going on. So I took a pass on that and thought, you know what? I think I'd rather just come out here and share the aloha, give you guys a little look-see into the wintertime of Hawaii. Here's another gal that's just watching the surf go by. Oh, it just keeps coming, man. I heard Waimea Bay is going off today. Are they running the eddy? I heard they are, but I don't know for a fact. It's got to be just perfect conditions. The eddy only runs once every four or five years. Oh, man, this just doesn't get old. The other thing that's nice about it is this constant sea breeze just bringing you these Maui magical molecules of negative ions that somehow get transposed into positive ions inside of your... Oh, look at that. Oh, man. I don't know why this just doesn't get old, man. You can just sit here and just watch this for days. At least I could. Oh, look at that. Yeah, he's just got the binoculars. It's just like they're looking for people. There's a guy coming in on a jet ski. I wonder what's up. Serious life-threatening conditions out here, folks. Let me tell you what. You don't want to mess with Mother Nature. Awe-inspiring. Again, if you're just joining the live, I'm here at Ho'okipa Beach Park. As you can see, it's shut down. No one's allowed into the beach park, no cars, just officials, no surfing. I don't think anyone would surf this anyway. We're going to head up to Jaws here in just a minute and see if I can get any clips for you. I don't think there'll be enough 3G, 4G, 5G, any G down there on that cliff, but I'll go down and check it out.
