today's
video I'm going to be talking about the
next step to scaling a soccer coach in
business now at this point I've created
over 300 plus ER
videos loads of uh podcasts episodes
written a ton of
blogs and something I get asked on a
daily basis by coaches who reach out to
reach out to me either through email
through
Instagram um via different different
platforms that we have available for
coaches to reach out to us is some are
at the stage where they have a steady
business they have a steady income but
what they're struggling with is the next
step to scaling right so get into the
next step of their business so something
I'm working with a coach right
now is I'm helping him to now transition
his business from where it's currently
at into a soccer club okay a youth
soccer club now that is
one step to scal in another step might
be maybe you're at a point where you now
want to maybe find an indoor facility so
you can run more
sessions but I always look at it it
depends really on where your business is
at and what your goals as a business
owner are for some for some coaches who
have coaching businesses
they aspire to have to run a club they
want to have competitive teams they want
to play in tournaments they want to
travel across the country they want to
help players get Pro contracts they want
to help players to go go to college uh
other coaches just want to stick to
being a neutral soccer coaching business
which attracts and helps to
supplement the development of their
clients so it really depends on where
you are what your goals are with your
business and what really you want from
your business but if you are at the
stage now where you're looking to
scale and you might want to start a
club then this video is going to be for
you so you might be asking yourself
right how many players do I need to
build a club or how many clients do I
have to have how many coaches do I need
so hopefully this video is going to
answer some of these questions because I
know you probably will have them um and
you and if you want to reach out to me
visit description below this video
that's going to be the best way for you
and me to connect and for me to answer
any questions that you may have with
regards to your coaching business so
when I look at starting a
club I look at it to to the point where
it you've kind of like outgrown what
you're kind of doing you've got to the
stage now where you've got systems in
place you've got assistant coaches that
are running
sessions um you've got now a steady
amount of kids that are doing your
sessions and you might now start to have
parents reach out to you about teams
right or about building a
club when that starts to happen that is
for me when we transition the business
into a coaching business now into a
club there are
differences and there are very a lot of
similarities to it okay but if there is
a lot of demand for it by parents the
first step I would do is I would send
out a survey to every parent every
customer that is part of your coaching
program and asking them to if this would
be an option for them do they want to H
join a team and what your ideas for the
program going forward are okay so with
this coach I'm working with that's
essentially what he did created a survey
sent that survey out to his current
customer list and based on what the
customers responded was where he then
took the business to the next level
which is now where he's transitioning
into a elite and competitive teams okay
so once that happens and once you've
made the decision right this is what I
want for my business this is what I want
as a coach this is what my customers
ultimately want then this is where the
part where now we expand the program
offerings okay so the first step is now
creating different type of programs
right there's going to be some players
that are fit for playing in Elite
competitive teams there's going to be
other players or custom that are okay
with doing developmental or in
introductory ER clinics or
sessions there's going to be some points
in the year where your your teams or or
your kids or your players your clients
don't have ER any other sessions so can
we now run seasonal training camps and
now can we expand into after school
programs okay so if you start to build
up your programs okay you might start to
build links with local schools okay with
this coach that I'm working
with because he wants to start to offer
Elite competitive teams and create that
as part of his coaching business now he
needs to find schools in order to be
able to run his program out of and what
that's done is now that's helped him to
build links with local schools where he
can offer after school programs or part
parip type of programs where his coaches
come in and do PE sessions they do
Workshop confidence
workshops um college recruitment
workshops ER student athlete workshops
so there's a lot of things in that
partnership that that
coach has now developed with that school
okay so expanding your program offerings
to make sure that every customer in your
program starts to now have a program
that they're part of okay for the more
Elite competitive teams we can then now
start to create
tryouts where we start to build teams
moving forward and looking to build
those teams to play in local competitive
either leagues or showcase events right
the next bit is now strengthening
strengthening a coaching staff and
Leadership okay so potentially hire ing
additional coaches if need be creating a
coaching methodology throughout the club
right so that every coach is now in line
with the club philosophy okay this works
exactly the same if you have a training
business right you can create a
curriculum where your additional coaches
follow when they work with players in a
one-on-one setting in a small group or
in a camp or clinic okay but now it
becomes very different because when you
start to have different
programs each program might require a
different type of curriculum okay your
more Elite competitive teams may require
a lot more training on the Tactical side
of the game okay whereas your
developmental sessions may require more
technical
development okay getting lots of skill
lots of touches of the ball skills
development that type of thing okay h
building a leadership team for
operations Finance marketing and
customer relations so when you start to
build up your
Club okay you will now need to build a
team of directors within your Club so
someone that is in charge of business
operations someone that is in charge of
the financing someone that is in charge
of marketing the club to more parents
schools and someone that is in charge of
customer relations okay dealing with
complaints dealing with
um any parent that owes money to the
club so someone that focuses on that and
this is where it comes down to building
a leadership team you'll have a a
director for this for this department
this department this department and this
this department okay so again very
similar to an a training business but
now it's a little bit different because
again you're going to have a lot more
programs running in that club a training
business can be a little bit different
because you might only have maybe four
or five programs but when it comes to a
club you're going to have multiple teams
you're going to have multiple skill
development programs you're going to
have after school clubs you're going to
have training camps
if you do tours if you go to tournaments
okay so you need people in each position
to be able to fulfill the role H improve
Player Development Pathways so if you're
a serious club or a serious uh Academy
then creating development Pathways into
college or the pro game okay so what is
your Academy or Club philosophy is it to
help players to get
contracts if that is the case then you
may be looking into bringing in a Scouts
and creating recruitment processes where
players at your Club can then get
scouted and recruited to play either at
the college level or to play at the pro
level okay so that is for you to sit
down and and and think about say right
how am I going to build these
Partnerships is it with local
professional clubs is it through local
colleges how I'm going to build this and
if you want more help with this reach
out to me description below that's going
to be the best way you can do that okay
but building Partnerships with clubs and
colleges to create recruitment pipelines
and Pathways for essentially your
players at your Club to get scouted
recruited to play at the next level uh
and then the next one expand
geographically so once your your Club is
up and running uh if it's very
successful you're bringing in
um a lot of players and there starts to
be demand for players that
live a little bit further away from
where your training location is then
there are options for you to to
expand okay so you can open multiple
locations where your teams train at so
that's a great way it's essentially
satellite
locations so that's going to try and
bring in players from different areas
around your city where it's closer for
them to come and train okay there might
be areas in your city where they don't
have a club and you can then create a
satellite a
club and recruit players under your Club
umbrella in that specific area okay
there are options of then franchising or
licensing options so coaches and this is
an example of a coach that I
know he was operating a club within a
city he was in but because of personal
reasons he had to move away and what he
did is he
sold the well essentially he kept the
business but he turned it into a
licensing business right so he licensed
he that club out to a new owner and then
he off he
opens a the same Club but in a different
location okay so that's another option
coaches that are maybe further away but
you want to exp expand your business
into different locations you could
create licensing opportunities for that
to happen um and then depending on what
Market you're in what country you're in
there are
potentials ER potential opportunities
for Grant government grants depending on
how you your your Club is set up if it's
a
nonprofit um and also sponsorship deals
okay so you
might you might get sponsorship from
local businesses within your area that
really like what you're doing they
really like your club or the parents are
owners of these businesses and they send
their kids to play and train at your
Club they might decide to turn around
and say right we'd like to sponsor some
of your competitive team or we want to
sponsor your development sessions or we
want to be the main sponsor of your
training camps okay so there are a lot
of options and if you need more help
with this reach out to me as I mentioned
this is something I'm currently doing at
the moment um and if you are at the
stage where you do want to scale and you
do want to uh create a club from what
you're currently doing then this is
going to be the best way for me to help
you is by visiting the description below
