Hand-Pollinating also known as Mechanical Pollination is used when you don't have pollinators or when you want a specific outcome from controlled pollination. You bypass the natural haphazardness of pollination by bees and other pollinators, or in our case with the mothership closed to keep it hot an humid for rapid growth, we bypass the sporadicness of pollination from too few bees or hummingbirds, you can mechanically transfer pollen from the plants you want to the fruit you want. This will not change the fruit of the pollinating procedure, but it will change the DNA of the seeds.
In our case, we can plant many varieties of plants close to each other but because we mechanically pollinate by hand, we are assured that we get the purest seeds.

In this video I show you how we mechanically pollinate Banana Squash and because our plants are heirloom and therefore our seeds remain pure to use again.
This allows us to store seeds for times that may come when seeds are not available and alieveates the necessity to buy seeds for planting.
