Stays 60°F inside@-10°F outside, 100°F inside@20°F outside

Building a 10'x24' Walipini style greenhouse out of scrap and whatever I can get my hands on.

I'd had a busy summer and didn't get to building the greenhouse until Nov 30, but that wasn't a problem as our winters usually don't get gnarly until about the middle of December.
Miss Chrissie was in Hawaii so I had nothing better to do than Get 'er Dun!!
I had some space next to a building with a south facing roof, some railroad ties, some cull wood from the hardware store, a $5/gallon can of mis-mixed paint from the hardware store, some $5 windows from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and 2 55gal plastic barrels.

I figured the existing building would give protection from the northwest wind which is where the main cold and storm comes in the winter, and since the sun is only in the south in the winter, using one wall on the north of the greenhouse (the south wall of the building) would also add a greater heat and insulation value, not to mention, it was a wall I didn't have to build!!

What I eventually paid retail for:
While I thought I'd just use plastic sheeting like a hoop greenhouse, it let too much cold in so I broke down and bought 16mm Polycarbonate 5 wall clear panels for the roof to give me as much insulation value as possible.
They're UV coated on one side to protect from our harsh UV and they're also coated on the inside to prevent condensation so the ceiling doesn't drip on you. They are as good today as when I installed them in December of 2014. They were pricey (abt $200/panel) but the insulation value is unbelievable and it doesn't matter where the sun is in the sky, the 5 wall reflective panels make it shine straight down into the greenhouse at full intensity.

If I'm working in the Walipini and it's just 20°F outside, it will be 100°F or more inside and you have to wear long sleeves and a baseball cap or you'll get sunburned from the sun shining straight down on you.

Here's the link for how I make potting Soil as you will go through a LOT of potting soil planting seeds... We usually go through 2- 32gal trash cans of potting soil each spring seed starting.
