We found free camping near Tucson, AZ at Las Cienegas National Conservation Area on a first come, first serve basis. This area is just a 60 minute drive south of the city of Tucson and a few minutes east of Sonoita, AZ. It allowed us to visit Tucson to enjoy the famous food scene, get up close and personal with tropical butterflies, and meet up with some friends.
