We finally made it to the bottom of the Baja California Sur peninsula - Cabo. We camped on the beach, got woken up by the cops at midnight, took a fun food and tequila tour, and explored the diversity and beauty this area has to offer. There is so much to see and do here, that we spent two weeks!

So we were just woken up by the cops it's about midnight.
Hi we're Mel and Jay. Together with our cat Benny we're traveling the Baja Peninsula
all the way to Cabo and back. This is the story of our time in Los Cabos where we get woken up
by the cops at midnight, take a food and tequila tour and check out Costco. Yes they have Costco here.
We are just leaving Cabo Pulmo and you might remember from that video that the road in was
a little bumpy but today we've just passed the grater and the road is way smoother. So thank you
thank you so much to the person who does that. Unfortunately we have not been able to find
a dumping station south of Los Periles or Todos Santos which means we have to backtrack from
Los Frailes or Cabo Pulmo back to Los Periles so that we can empty out our tanks and refill on
water before we can move on to Cabo. Those cows seem to know the protocol they all moved over
for the truck. We went through a lot of water at Los Frailes now we're at a water place and we're
right here in the parking lot. So this is how we fill up our tank with agua purificada in Baja,
one container at a time. Now we are at Baja Sunrise RV Park where we are dumping the tanks.
It's a RV park with full hookups available but they also allow people to come for 100 pesos
or five bucks to come and dump your tanks and that is really really wonderful for us because
otherwise I don't know where we would have to go to dump our tanks probably back to La Paz.
So this is fantastic. And now we just need some propano. Thankfully we found a place with a nice
big parking lot. We just arrived we're about halfway between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San
Lucas. We're in that awkward phase where we've just arrived somewhere we don't really know the
situation. We've read on iOverlander that it's an okay place to stay but it does get really busy
at night. Possible loud music. We haven't unhitched yet it's still really easy to move the rig if we
need to but I'll tell you we're between all these like mega resorts literally right on the beach
and we can stay for free. Somehow it seems like you shouldn't be able to do that. It seems a little
bit wrong and yet it works. Look at how close we are to the beach. There's the trailer, there's the
beach. In one of like the top vacation destinations that direction is all the big resorts heading
towards San Jose del Cabo and this direction is Cabo San Lucas. And this here is another arroyo.
In the wet season this could be a raging river but in the dry season like right now it's a great
place to park. One thing I wish we would have brought is a rake. It would have been so nice to like
rake our spot as we arrived but you know the shovel kind of does in a pinch.
It's about 6 p.m and we've got some beach tunes happening.
Good morning this is day two at Playa El Tule. Last night was not bad. We had one group that kind
of stayed at those palapas over there. They were playing loud music from about maybe 6 p.m until
7, 7 30 p.m so not really that late. After that it was quite quiet and one of the reasons we came
here is because we were hoping that Mel could surf but it's not looking like great surf conditions.
Honestly it's looking like good swimming conditions which is unusual here. I mean maybe
maybe there could be some like practice waves in there. I don't know. So far two vehicles have gotten
stuck in the soft sand right here. We helped a local man get his truck out of the sand
and later he invited us to join him for some chocolate clams.
You may have noticed that we synced up with Hannah and Andy again.
Good morning. Let's start with a camp tour. Now while we are in Cabo we are starting off on
this beach called Playa El Tule. We're here for the first few days and then we have some
very special guests arriving. We don't want to leave the trailer just unattended on a random beach
so we will be moving into a campground. So for now let's have a little look at Playa El Tule.
We have a couple of palapas, there's an outhouse, there's some garbage cans around, and we've got a
fantastic view of the water. I should also mention we are in the city so of course there are highways,
there is a lot more people, there's a little more noise. This is probably the noisiest beach we've
been on. The road in is fairly hard and compact. This is also a turtle nesting beach so you cannot
go all the way to the water and you won't want to anyways because the sand does get pretty loose.
We've already pushed out at least three cars. That's that. There's Banny hanging out. Hi Banny.
He loves the sun. So I regret to inform you that we've all turned into wusses. The sun's just gone
down. It's about 22 degrees celsius which if it was spring in BC we'd be in shorts. Be in shorts
and t-shirts saying wow it's so hot. Here we're in sweatshirts and pants. Mel's got her vest on.
We've got hot drinks. We're Baja cold. This is supposed to be a huge party beach as you can see.
Pretty quiet I have to say and I think it's probably because of the cold.
Because it's freezing. I think anyone that lives here is probably as cold or colder than we are
and is like I don't want to go and party on the beach. It's too cold. So we were just woken up by
the cops. It's about midnight but it's not what you think. They were stuck in the sand right outside
of the trailer. All we hear is like this truck revving and revving and revving and I'm like oh
that sounds really close. Like are they gonna hit the trailer? Like what's what's up? They were
right right down. Almost to their bumper. Yeah bumper resting on the sand. So as stuck as I've
seen. And so we went out and gave them a little bit of ayuda or help. Yeah we brought out our
shovel. And our mats. And our mats. And uh after about what 20 minutes 25 minutes. We got them out.
Well. Finally helped get them out. They did most of the work let's be fair. But yeah the police are now
on their way. Let's go back to bed honey. Good morning. Well it's properly cold this morning.
It's 13 degrees celsius. But we've got our coffee and doughnuts. And uh we're just looking at the
big hole from last night when the cops got stuck. But I think the cold really helped with the
partying. Because there was very little. Yeah. There was one vehicle that was blasting tuba music until
about 10 o'clock. But it was it was way the other side of the beach. So it didn't really bother us.
Yeah. Mel was just saying that she had one of the best sleeps that she's had here. Yeah it was
after the cops left. I fell back to sleep and then I woke up and it was 6 30. So
I'm quite happy. Yeah this spot has turned out to be way better than we thought it would be.
It's our last night on Playa Tule and I have to say this has been a much better spot than I could
have imagined. We thought it was going to be like a crazy party spot. Now it's a Sunday evening and
you can see the beach is pretty busy. But it's mostly families. There'll often be a truck or two
with some music playing. And it's usually like authentic Mexican folk music. Which is kind of
just enjoyable to listen to. It just kind of goes with the whole mood of the beach.
Now we actually want to see more of what Cabo has to offer. And in order to do that
we are going to go to a campground today. So that we can park for the week and feel
fun planned for today. But before we get to that we have to stop at a fancy hotel to pick up our
friends who are joining us. They're our neighbors from back home and they happen to be in Cabo at
the same time as us. Actually they came just to visit us because they missed us so much.
We joined a food and tequila tour by Juan Mor Taco Tours. Where Karina, our guide, led us through
six different stops before returning to their tequila tasting room. Each stop highlighted food
from a different state in Mexico. Showing us that Cabo is truly a melting pot of people from all
over Mexico. And this is apparently beef tongue. She's tasting it only this morning.
I've got a heart in my hands. I don't know how many more stops we have but I'm getting really full.
Yeah this tour has a lot of food. What kind did you get?
We learned so much about the history and traditions of tequila making from E.C. in the tasting room.
And all we can say is that he makes some fine tasting tequila. If you want to join one of the
food tours they offer next time you're in Cabo, check out their website linked in the description
of this video. This is for you mom and dad Hanley. Life jacket. Oh I know those yellow-tailed ones.
Yeah. We've seen huge schools of them. Yeah that's Lover's Beach and on the other side,
on the Pacific side is Divorce Beach. Just watch out. That's Neptune's finger.
There's a lot of tour boats out here.
And if you didn't know, yes there is a Costco here in Cabo. Lots of Canadian and American
plates here. Alberta, BC, Washington, South Dakota, Oregon. Everyone's here. Oh I would love this.
It's peanuts and pumpkin seeds with spices. These are different. I guess it's like a chip
but it's made with pumpkin and they've got cinnamon on it. These are chili spiced craisins.
Something that Jay has really been enjoying here is this mayonnaise with lime but now we can buy
it in Costco size. It's good. They had it for sampling when Hannah and I came in and it's like
chocolate and coffee flavored Special K. So not everything here is exotic and strange and different.
We have a lot of products that we would find at home like Cheerios and Fruit Loops and Lucky Charms
Cinnamon Toast Crunch. So when we were looking for places to stay in Cabo, not a lot came up.
However, we were able to find Rancho El Clandestino and we would like to give you a little tour.
So getting into Rancho El Clandestino, first things first, this is not a big rig friendly place.
We just squeezed in with our 25 foot travel trailer so anything bigger I would not recommend.
So smaller rigs, truck campers, small trailers, lots of vans. And if you don't have a rig at all
you can come and do a little bit of glamping. They have several different types of tents of
varying sizes. They have bathrooms with flush toilets. More toilets. These are fancy toilets.
Oh and there's a shower here. And then they have a nice common area with dining tables,
cooking space, everything to be able to hang out and enjoy other campers company.
Hi! They're also dog friendly and they have quite a few little camp dogs around to welcome you.
All around the campground there are various fruit trees. We've got pomegranates, figs,
and passion fruit even. And you're allowed to pick some if they're ripe.
All right and our campground experience wouldn't be complete without Geronimo the donkey.
Right buddy? He's only nine months old. He's still got some learning. Yeah you like to nip a bit
don't you? But you're darn cute. He'll always say hello. Yeah. San Jose del Cabo is completely
different from Cabo San Lucas. Where San Lucas is very much a party city, San Jose is much more
relaxed. We love the chill vibe in the old town where they close down many of the streets every
Thursday evening for the Art Walk, a festival featuring local artists.
Oh that were fancy!
Well that only took us about an hour to get out of. Rancho El Clandestino is a nice spot,
just not big rig friendly unfortunately. But that wraps up our time here in Los Cabos. Yeah and next
week we're going to come to you from the surfing town of Todos Santos. So surf's up! See you then!
On a beach called... what's this beach called?
Oh you're still filming? Oh okay. Oh hello. Yeah.
Oh Banny. Banny doesn't like a donkey donk. Make sure you don't miss the next video by liking,
