You guys you guys stop I have a gift. It's not really a gift. It's a I'm forcing this on you
Oh, I think by the way because um
Back in the day in the 90s. You were the queen like all of us wanted to be you and you
Visit day actually in the 90s. Everybody wanted to be
And so I was like looking at like looking at pictures to get inspired for like just style and like
Thinking about you with all your little daisies in your hair and all that
Call my stylist cuz we're like twins. I know by the way
I'm taking off the vest actually because I think this will color coordinate better
What do you think in a good way you do that's like super bold
To some but seems so normal and natural to you
Bold. Yeah. Um, I don't know. I sometimes I feel like when I get on stage maybe I was
Had when I'm so glad you said that cuz I was like you can get up in front of everybody and do something
That's so rare. It's just fun. It feels like this like huge
Exchange like a wave of love like, you know
I'm there to love them and they're there to love me and we just we know it and we're
And we have this like common. That's why I'm so excited to be here because we have this common thing
Which is the song or the story because most of the songs are like the story of my life
So having I have a new record, so I'm so excited you have
In anticipation, it's called bouquet looking at how you're dressed
Which by the way is very much
And the whole album, you know feels like the extremely invitational, you know, the thing is is that like I I
wanted to write a record so bad and I it was like probably the end of 2020 and I was like
There's this inner voice. It's like make a record
But I felt guilty like to go into the studio and take the time to do that
I have a life with the kids and everything is it's a lot and I also like have a lot of records and I've done
It like I've done it a bunch of times
but I just couldn't like put it away like I just kept going in the studio and I kept going to like
Cul-de-sacs of like oh, I'm gonna do ska again
Like oh, I'm gonna do right
like I kept trying to chase my old self and like try to repeat or compete with myself and
It just it felt like going in and getting my old prom dress and like putting it on going. I love it
It's not working anymore. You know what I mean?
I gotta find where I'm at now like who am I now and at the time of I started writing was right when I got
Engaged and that was just like them. It was right 2020. You could imagine pandemic engagement
Yeah, and then you know, then I got married the following year. So this whole record took four years
To make ten songs. But anyways, that's good
I wrote a lot of songs and I just really wanted to like
Handpick the best bouquet of songs to like almost be like
To explain what was going on in a great way and the first single is like a song called somebody else's which is kind of
about the past and
Realize that you really do on this album
You needed to hear like how far the love grew and like after
Happening to like scrape myself off the ground and like start over again
Like I'm still there miracle like it's just such a miracle to be now nine years in and you know, yeah
Nine years with this guy. He's
Going I
One of the last things we talked about which is the thing that really sat with me
Because it just it gave me so much. Hope is that you would say
You just had made this
Decision in a beautifully resigned poetic way of this is gonna be my life
I'm gonna be with my boys and I'm gonna make my coffee every day. Oh, yeah
I remember that and you know
I don't know if love will come back into my life
probably not even and then the doors opened and somebody walked through them and changed all that and
To hear that from you because I think you're Gwen Stefani
we all love you so much and then it's like I
Applied it to my own little tiny existence and I literally I don't know who else did it
But it it shifted something for me. Really? Yes, it really did
It made me go from this is what's happening to me to these are my choices
And now I also know and believe that
My inner dialogue, which is this is my life
I wake up with my girls and this is our routine and that's just gonna be what it is
It was the first person you are the first person to make me think and one day that might not be true
Because the way you talked about it was so uplifting but also like we don't know the future
We don't know the future and even like right now having new music
which is it's one of those things where it's like I think about myself and I think about things like
just my whole journey and and like
It wasn't until like I wrote a song that I was like, oh I have wings
Like I didn't I didn't even know I could do that. You know, I'm saying like all of a sudden I'm flying
I'm writing all these songs and I was writing the songs about like really bad stuff. That was happening to me
You know, I mean like everything was wrong
And I wrote these songs before anyone could ever like I didn't know I could do it
And then I didn't know anyone would hear it because you know
The band was together almost it was nine years before just a girl came on the radio
So it wasn't like it was that long from 17 till 25
Nine is a significant number. Yeah today it is
Yeah, and I I don't know so for me like having a new version of that where it expresses like not just for to share
It but for myself like just listen back to it because you write the songs. It's really crazy and
Sometimes you have an idea of what you want to say
like for example
there's a song on the record called pretty and I
was thinking about it and I was I was thinking about like I was looking back in my life at all of like the photos like
Physical and inner beauty of myself and and I was like thinking about eighth grade
I'm like staring in the mirror in the gym, right like by myself going
Cute like I can't tell like, you know when you're trying to figure out if you are not
And I was like and then I look back at all the photos and I'm like, where did I where am I the prettiest like
When do I like myself the most and it was right when Blake started loving me?
And I wanted to write a song about that because when you actually feel love for the first time you can you they reflect you
You can see yourself in them and like I wanted to write a song about that
So there's this record is kind of just like a diary of those kinds of little thoughts that I had through feeling love
Right, we have to cut to a quick commercial break
I do not want to but when we come back
Will you tell me all about Snoop and the boys because I mean I just okay. We'll be right back
