SCAR-20S or the commercial variant of the military's Mark 20 SSR or sniper support rifle.
And although this rifle does share some similarities to the Mark 17 or the SCAR-17,
the SCAR Heavy, especially if you're looking at it from a distance, when you get up close there
are some notable differences despite this rifle also being chambered in 7.62. First and foremost,
we have an extended barrel out to 20 inches. The receiver here is also extended. The normal SCAR
receiver stops right about here and this, as you can see, has about an extra six inches or so on it
going over and around the gas block. As we move rearward, the attachment method for the barrel
is actually more robust. You'll note an addition of extra set screws pinning the barrel into and
locking it into the receiver. The trigger on this is a Geissele two-stage match trigger from the
factory and another major difference is obviously here at the end of the rifle, the buttstock,
which is a precision-oriented buttstock. You have adjustable cheek riser height and adjustable
length of pull as well and finite series of adjustments. Quite a bit different than the
Ugg bootstock on the SCAR-17. So, all in all, a bunch of attributes which lend themselves to being
more oriented towards that sniper support style rifle. So, come along with us out to the range.
This is by no means comprehensive, but we are going to shoot a variety of different ammunitions
over a good number of groups and we're going to show you guys the results as we prep this rifle
for runs on the show and a full evaluation. Let's get out there.
just messing around with different ammo types yeah i noticed that the
standard setting was quite aggressive i haven't had yet any chokes with it
okay it was just i mean it's a short stroke uh so as much as i just said that the suppressor
that's what happens let's just shoot a fresh group in case the gas changes anything of material
consequence and the accuracy pretty similar location to the first one yeah it was yep
so gassing doesn't appear to affect the point of impact at the least yeah and then prone the
the original the non-suppressed setting isn't too bad i mean maybe it's worse if it if you're
shooting like on the bench or sitting okay fifth shot threw it to the right
not bad so inch and a half a little under i think i think um which is quite good for um
for semis inch and a quarter maybe yeah yeah so that was 175 gold metal match all right this is
178 hornady match 178 all right bowtail hollow points horny all day let's see how it goes
wow nice that's a really good looking group yeah so that looks like it was right on the
crest of one probably what 1.1 1.2 something like that yep um 178 right yeah the 178 hornady
those have pretty pretty darn good like uh flight characteristics eldm those are no these aren't
the elds no these aren't tipped those are the hollow points okay oh these are your favorite
well nausea boys i mean i've shot some really tight groups with these so quick shout out to
our boy joe at bruiser industries we're definitely shooting his favorite rifle
for anyone out there who follows bruiser tag man tag him and tell him how much you love the scar
and how much you know that he loves the scar system as well
damn that's a pretty good group so uh that is close to bolt action accuracy
yeah i mean that's four through one hole basically yeah so we're only shooting five
groups here because we're basically doing a quick snapshot ammo assessment right like
is there a certain ammo that this thing is like this one uh and i don't think that doing
freaking ball ammo why why are you like this note the head you see the one that is there
minus that one i think the audience would want to know what does ball ammo do through it because
let's be real some people will buy these things and just fine fine fine yeah yeah don't close the
bolt leave the bolt open oh leave it open thank you you're the only one to score a bullseye thank
you very much josh but no i specifically it's i mean i was messing with josh a little bit talking
about shooting ball ammo that's actually not i mean for for m80 ball my experience with m80 ball
is off that's that's that's actually better than most right yeah most m80 ball is like but i mean
there's a point to this though because there's gonna be guys who like civilian shooters who buy
things like this and just shoot m80 ball through them you think someone's buying a four thousand
okay maybe not a scar maybe not a 20 yeah maybe the 17 okay right and while the 17 actually
i would say with performance ammunition shoots similar to this it was per when we grouped it
years ago yeah i wanted to shoot ball ammunition just to see the baseline on what standard
you know non-match ammunition would do quite frankly i think that would do 500 just fine
so i mean it would even do 800 if you're not trying to get first round impacts yeah so absolutely
perfect repeatable and right right it's still very effective target size dependent yeah it's
still very effective on target it's just maybe not exactly that nozzler shot the nozzler was
real good that was my experience too so it hurts my soul because the nozzler is really expensive
yeah really expensive gun likes really expensive ammo uh but the nozzler grouped the tightest of
any of the groups my groups were similar to yours i'd say maybe a tiny bit bigger when i did them
but i'll actually i've actually got them still so we can roll them over and show okay sure yeah
for sure so um i mean just a short video to talk about kind of tease everyone out a little bit as
we're doing our preliminaries and document it a little bit this is a little bit of a tease on the
other end on what we're doing should we shoot this now yeah let's do that one it'll be a good
it'll be a good comparison because this is pretty much a one-to-one clone of the military
mark 20 ssr whereas that is definitely not a one-to-one clone but from 25 meters and onwards
you you get a little confused before you make your mind up on that one 4,500 gun
1,500 gun yeah that's i wonder how different the groups will be probably the same john
dude what let's find out hurt you and your hurt you and the the not the nods there all right
seven one six this is
you
