Van Life Travel Couple Is BACK ON THE ROAD
Snow and Curt are a Full Time Van Life Couple that had to rent an apartment in Mexico for 5 months due to the Covid. Now, it is safe to start living in a van again, but as van life travelers, they know that van life and van life travel will not be the same as it was pre-corona... but, they are excited to get back into their tiny house on wheels and on the road and continue their tiny house Van Life Mexico Journey! Follow along with this van life video as these van life vloggers share their first day of full time travel back in the van and Van Life Lifestyle resumes!
Oh, Puerto Escondido, you have been a beautiful place.
It has rained since like six o'clock last night, and it is now almost 11 o'clock in
the morning. And I don't mean just a little bit of rain.
It has been coming down rain. And the wind has been like 25 miles an hour.
It has been crazy gross weather. But we managed to get all the last little
bit of stuff loaded up into the van. Vanna is in the van.
Kurt has gone upstairs to get G-Money. And then G-Money will be in the van, and
we will be 100% back in the van and leaving our apartment here at Zion
Bungalows saying goodbye to Suzy and Mar. The bad part about this horrible
weather is I can't take the camera gear outside. It's just really raining too
hard. So we're not gonna be able to get a bye-bye wave from Suzy and Mar. But Suzy
gave us an awesome card with an awesome present, which we're gonna show you right
now. And it is time for us to hit the road as soon as Kurt and G-Money get in
the van. So the adventure begins. So days don't always work out like you plan. We
were super, super excited for our first day in the van. We had some big plans.
What happened, Snow? It is raining. And I've already told y'all this morning it
rained all night last night. It is still raining. And when we go to pull out of
here where we just stopped to pick up a few last groceries, I want Kurt to show
y'all this river that is in the road. It's a monsoon and it's very hilly here.
This is rainy season. And so we we're still gonna be driving. We're gonna be
going very slow. But Snow's been bragging to all you guys. Look at that. Snow's
been bragging to you guys that she's always the one who's driving. So I
figured today would be a good day for her to actually do some driving. So
anyway, we're in the van and on the road, guys.
So we're back on the road again. And what's our first topic of discussion? As
always in Mexico, I wonder what the conditions of the road are gonna be.
Dodging topes and low-hanging limbs right now. But this little place, what's
it called? Mazunte. It's a very pretty little place. I mean it feels like you're
in sort of Southern California or something.
So the plan this morning was to get an early start, get out of Puerto, and on our
way to our next destination, we were gonna pull into two really cool little
beach communities we had heard about. Mazunte and Cipollit. And we were
gonna have lunch there, maybe walk on the beach a little bit. But then this crazy
rainstorm came and messed everything up. And we almost didn't even ride out here
and ride through them. We just almost just kept going on the big road, headed to our
next place. But I'm pretty glad we made this little detour. We didn't get to get
out and see the beach too much, you know, because it's just everything's so wet and
the roads are a mess. Those are two pretty cool little beach communities
down here. So I'm glad we did that. And now Kurt is driving. It's very rare, very
rare that Kurt drives. Probably won't make the video, guys. But he is driving. And we're almost back to the big road and we will
continue heading south to our next destination where we will be staying in
the van overnight. So we seem to be driving through the mountains. It's very
green, very lush, kind of tropical-y looking. Very curvy roads. And I want to
be as fair as I can be to Kurt, even though he does not drive often, he is
driving now on the curvy road. Can you believe this, guys?
the more washed out it is. But so far it's drivable. And then every once in a
while, for some unknown reason, there will be a segment of concrete road. In the middle of nowhere.
In the middle of that bumpy road we were just showing y'all. You drive up and there's
this. We're not complaining. We are very grateful for this. But they still have to
put some topaz in here.
So we're driving down this bumpy, dirty, eroded street road back out, head to our
destination. And we passed this piña field, pineapple field. And there's a guy
out there chopping off pineapples. And so we pulled up and we just bought a
pineapple, roadside, right off the plant. 20 pesos. For those of you keeping track, 20
pesos is a dollar. And then we come up on an emu. We're in the middle of nowhere. Look at this thing.
Look at this thing. It's a big, wide, fat pineapple. It's got multiple heads on it. Look at all those stalks.
Looks just like me. Only it has hair. So basically we got a big, giant, double-headed
pineapple for a buck. We're going to the beach and we're gonna eat it. Gonna eat the pineapple. If we can ever get off this bumpy road.
The more I think of all the tough times we survived, the more it makes me smile.
If nothing's broken us, yeah nothing ever will, cause dreams are hard to kill.
We have left our apartment where we were for five months due to the coronavirus.
And after a long day of driving in the rain and on some very bumpy roads, we
have arrived at our first van life destination post-coronavirus. Don Tacos
Overlander Camp is on the southern Pacific coast of Oaxaca, Mexico. It's
owned and ran by two former Dutch overlanders, Franz and his wife. They are
fantastic. We will be staying here for several days while we get adjusted to
being back in the van. Don Tacos Camp is one of the few overlander campsites that
stayed open during the coronavirus because, as former overlanders
themselves, they knew there would be overlanders that needed a safe having
during the lockdowns. There's space here for multiple rigs, but there's only one
other couple here for now. They're from Chile. Tent camping under the palapas is
also available. There's direct access to the beach, clean toilets and shower,
hammocks to relax, Wi-Fi, an open outdoor kitchen to use, tables, it's fenced, it's
secured, and it's pet friendly.
When I was telling you about Don Tacos Camp earlier, I did not tell you that it
is located adjacent to the Hotaco National Park, and that there is a boat
with the captain available, as well as snorkel equipment, which is going to come
in handy for us over the next few days, and we still have to cook up that
pineapple and eat at some of these locally owned beachfront restaurants. So
