Good morning America, we are in Idaho again. We are about to take on a 10 mile hike.
Nature over city, any day for me. Wow, this view is absolutely bonkers.
They call it America the Beautiful for a reason. How is this at the top of a mountain?
A dream come true. That's crazy. Are you ready for this? Have you got this?
Our legs are in bits. Something worrying, very very worrying just happened.
We are going to see the Sawtooth Lake. Sawtooth Lake, we're starting our Iron Creek
trailhead. This is the longest hike we have ever done. The second longest would be the
Maple Pass Loop to Washington State. That was dangerous. It was very scary,
there was snow everywhere but this is this is going to be exciting. I'm getting a bit nervous
because you know it is a bit nervous. Yeehaw baby, we don't do nervousness. Get after it.
That echoed through the whole place. Anyway, we possibly might go in to the lake,
swim in it. I think it's a glacier lake or an alpine lake. We're gonna find out.
How much have I been annoying you this morning? Oh, so much.
What did you just say to me? What?
What did you just say to me? About the backpack race?
No, something else. About the switchback?
No. What did I say? I'm getting hot?
No. What did I say?
You don't know where I'm going? When did I say that?
A minute ago. No, I didn't.
I'll tell you where we're going. Where are we going?
We're all going on a summer holiday. Wait, guys.
What? Guys, this is a crazy hike.
This is a crazy hike. My lungs are already burning from the altitude, I'm sure.
What's the craziest hike you've ever done? Get it in the comments.
We love things that push us and test us. And a Sunday morning 10-mile hike
up a mountain sounds like it's gonna push us. But yeah, get in the comments. What's the craziest,
scariest hike you've ever done? Let us know. Maybe we'll give it a go.
Here she comes now. Dora the Explorer.
Shanzi, here you come. Whoa.
We're half a mile into the hike. And yeah, we're getting hot already.
And we can feel the elevation. And I have all trails. I've got the paid version, right?
And I was looking at the trail and the switchbacks. Look at the switchbacks.
It's gonna be crazy. Are you excited?
Yeah. I'm scared.
Okay, guys, we are just past half a mile. 0.67 miles into the hike. And James has found his
stick. Yay. And if you know us from the beginning, guys, if you're an OG, you will know that every
time we hike or go into a national park, James finds a special stick that he hikes with.
If I don't find a special stick, I just play with my stick.
Oh, no. The mountain here, I don't know what it is, but it really reminds me of the mountain
in Yosemite. Kind of looks like El Cap. There's a pretty stream. This is so beautiful. Look how
crystal clear the water is. I am 100% a nature girl. Nature over city any day for me.
What about you guys? What's your opinion? Nature or city? Look at that. How clear it is.
I love this so much. I love it.
Officially one mile in. We've already bumped into two people who hiked
up there yesterday and stayed overnight. They said it was very windy, but very beautiful.
Yeah, they camped up there and we were also just saying that we can smell the smoke in the air.
There's loads of surrounding wildfires. I think they're coming from Washington State and blowing
over, but you can actually smell it now. Yeah. And they were talking about how it's quite smoky
up there, but I guess we're going to have to just keep going. But this is our view so far.
Have a look at that. Ready. I was talking to you, I was talking to the camera. I know,
I thought you were talking to me. I was like, oh, wow. Let's continue on. We've only got like
another four miles to go. I think. Are you going to cheer up on the way? Guys, I've been very quiet.
You know, my lungs are burning. I'm just trying to keep it all in right now. He's not trying to
admit that he's like already a bit out of breath. There's no way I'm out of breath. I keep asking
him, are you okay? And he's like, yeah. Listen, without this stick, I'd be nothing. That's all
I'm saying. We're almost at the two mile mark and we've got this beautiful view in front of us.
Look at this. Zoom in. Crazy. I always forget how much I enjoy hiking. Yeah. Like before you get
here, you get a little bit anxious, a little bit nervous. For sure. And now we've started,
our bodies have warmed up and I remember how peaceful it makes me feel. So nice out here.
And we've been wanting to hike this whole trip, but we're coming to the end of the trip almost.
And we just haven't really been able to because we've been so rushed, haven't we? Yes, we have
been very rushed. Now I feel like we should try and get as many hikes in as possible. For sure.
Especially around the Sawtooth mountains because we've got beautiful lakes, beautiful hikes.
That's another reason why we just desperately want to live in the US because we want to have
time and not have to rush all of our travels. Because the reason we're rushing is because
obviously we only get a specific amount of time in the US and we have to hand an RV in at a certain
point and blah, blah, blah. It's just really frustrating. You know, I would have loved to
hike in Glacier National Park more. We did one hike, but it was a small hike. I really wanted
to do one of the turquoise blue lakes. They look stunning. That would have been so cold.
It would be freezing. This lake's going to be cold up here as well. We're going to see if we're
going to go in. I probably will go in, depending on how cold or hot it is at the top of the mountain.
And we've just hit two miles. Nice. Look at these views. Wow.
Waterfall over there.
Two miles, baby. How you doing?
My coughs are burning. My chest is burning. This is our current view. There is beautiful
mountains just over there. Well, we are surrounded by beautiful mountains, but
we're in one. Yeah, we're in a mountain right now, but this is a trail.
Guys, we are 2.9 miles into the hike, and something worrying, very, very worrying just
happened. You guys need to tell us if this is normal. I don't think it's normal, but we were
walking past this group of three. There was two people in front. They were fine. But then we passed
the people in front, the two people in front, and there was a guy holding what looked like a...
It was a machine gun.
And he was holding it like this.
He was holding it like that. And as I was walking past him, I was thinking,
surely that's not normal to bring on a hike.
Is it normal to hold it ready like that?
Well, maybe to bring on a hike, but not to hold it like that. He was holding it ready to fire,
it looked like. And I literally looked death in the eye.
I was ready to pounce. I don't know. Is that normal, guys? This is America.
I know you guys obviously carry guns, and that's fine, but
like to hold it like that and to have it on a hike, that big of a gun?
It seems a bit unnecessary.
I've got whole body shivers because I was like, am I about to die? I don't know. You
guys let me know if that's normal or not, because we've never seen that before.
No, we have not.
Very, very strange and worrying.
Mile three, and we're really starting to smell the fire.
That's crazy.
The smoke, sorry.
Wow. Can you guys hear the stream? Let's go find the stream.
Morning activity.
This is cool.
How do I get over? I'm holding two cameras right now.
Look at that view in the background.
Wow.
These views at mile three are insane.
This is great.
Look at this. It's breathtaking. It's genuinely breathtaking.
Wow.
Wow. This view is crazy.
Can you guys hear the stream? And then it's just surrounded by what looks like meadows.
Yeah. Away from everyone.
This view is absolutely bonkers.
Look at that.
I don't think I've ever seen anything so...
Oh, there's someone running.
Someone running up it.
That's going to be our goal, isn't it?
Start doing trail runs.
Oh, it's just so beautiful.
And you can see how smoky it is over there from all the wildfires.
So it'd be even more clearer if there wasn't any wildfires, but still extremely beautiful.
This is by far my favourite hike ever.
3.72 miles in.
We've gained 1,252 feet of elevation.
So we stopped for a cookie break.
And a sausage.
That looks disgusting.
It tastes very questionable.
It's like a pickled sausage.
That's so gross.
I'm going to eat it just for the protein.
The taste is really, really weird.
So gross.
Let me show you guys the view behind us.
So this is the trail.
And then look over there.
Look at that.
So insane.
I need cookie to make up for it.
All right, yours is the one in the package.
No.
Here you go.
No problem.
Ever since we saw that guy with the gum.
We've been sketching.
Our heads have been on a swivel.
We've been nervous.
It broke on Saturn.
It's quite a tough hike, isn't it?
It is a bit of a naughty hike.
It's like from the beginning, you're going up, up, up.
Gaining elevation the whole way.
I'm not complaining because we're fit and we're healthy.
But it's a challenge.
It's a naughty hike.
But cookie break.
4 miles in.
And they call it America the beautiful for a reason.
The views are getting.
What are they like?
So right now we're currently looking at Alpine Lake.
Have a look there.
It's stunning.
So we either had the choice to hike down to there.
Or keep going further up to Sawtooth Lake.
Which is, I think, another 2 miles.
Maybe 1 mile up.
1 mile up.
Yeah.
But steep.
It gets steeper.
And we've gained 1378 feet of elevation since we've been started.
Allegation.
Did I say that?
What's allegation?
Elevation.
Look at those views.
Are we going to swim when we get to the top?
It's getting pretty hot.
So it'd be nice to cool down.
We got to get it done.
You guys got to stick around to see if we're going to go for a swim at the top.
I don't know yet if we are.
But we'll see how we feel.
It's going to be ice cold, surely.
It probably will be.
Let's go.
Crazy, right?
Breathtaking.
Yeah, be careful.
So I've been to the Lake City, the Itchituckie Springs.
Yeah, I've heard of them.
We were travelling through Perry, Perry, Florida.
And there's basically nothing around there.
Like, nothing.
No houses, nothing.
We found an abandoned puppy on the side of the road.
And we rescued her.
She didn't have an owner.
She was covered in fleas and ticks.
She's got everything.
Yeah, and she brought it back to the UK.
That's nice.
Yeah.
We were in Costa Rica on a nation trip and we brought back a puppy in 2013.
Let's go.
What puppy was it?
What kind of puppy?
Yeah, yeah.
Basically the one you see running around the streets in Central America.
Oh, wow.
Just like...
Did it look beautiful or not?
They all look the same.
Yeah.
She just passed away.
We just bumped into two lads.
And one of them was like, do you guys post on social media?
It's so funny.
Like, we're five miles up a mountain.
And people are like, do you guys post on social media?
We've seen you.
They're young lads as well.
They were.
They were really nice young lads.
Look at this view we are approaching.
That's what they said.
Anyway, it looks bigger than a pond to me, but...
This is the pond before Salty Plate.
We've got less than half a mile to go, I think.
We're getting close.
It's getting windy.
Smashing it, girl.
Let's go.
You're getting in.
Whoa, who knows?
It's getting windy and a bit chilly, so I don't know.
Uh-oh.
We've hit our first bit of snow.
And we're almost, almost at Salty Plate.
Let's keep going.
We've come to this little crossing.
Let's hope I don't fall in.
That was wobbly.
Come on, Jamesy.
Sianna made it across the crossing.
Let's hope I make it the same.
Be careful.
Look at these settings.
This is so beautiful.
Uh-oh.
What happened?
I went so wonky.
That was terrible.
That was almost so tragic.
Look at this.
So beautiful.
There's a paintbrush over there.
Yeah, gorgeous.
Wow.
Come out.
Guys, we made it to Sawtooth Lake.
And it genuinely is so big that it looks like the ocean.
And it's very windy up there.
How is this at the top of a mountain?
Someone explain to me.
There's so much driftwood as well.
Would you call that driftwood?
Crystal clear, that water is just coming out of there.
That is absolutely bonkers.
Look at that.
And then this is all wood that's just been pushed to the side.
Because of the wind.
That is the purest water.
I bet you could drink that.
Oh, that looks tempting to drink.
I bet you can drink it, right?
Oh, the surroundings are so beautiful.
We want to find somewhere with a better view of the lake.
So maybe we go up there.
Or let's walk around more and see what we can discover.
Do you think James should try and walk on these logs?
Do you think he should?
Do you think I should?
I think you should.
Do you really?
Or are you?
Guys, there's snow.
Should we go run on it?
And then look at how crystal clear that water is.
Absolutely crazy.
Let's go crazy.
Let's go closer to it.
See what we can see.
I wonder if there's any fishies swimming around in here.
So beautiful.
A dream come true.
Chipmunk.
Do you see the chipmunk?
Look at the snow.
Ah, Shana.
Bullying me all the way up a mountain.
We're going to keep walking around the lake to see
what the best view of the lake is.
Look at all the wildflowers.
Oh, it's genuinely crazy scenes right now.
Let's keep going this way.
James has just said that there's a crazy view.
That may just be the best view in America ever.
It's windy.
Jeez, guys, it's windy.
Ah, so cool.
We've reached mile five.
We've gained 1,982 foot of elevation,
and we've just got to the treacherous bit
where there isn't really a pathway.
So we're just making our way over these big boulders over there.
Okay, we can see the next part of Salty Flake.
So we're heading there.
If you guys can see, the trail goes up there.
And it's getting real windy.
So let's go see if we're going to get in or not.
Welcome to Sawtooth Lake.
Look at that bad boy.
It's like an ocean on the mountain.
Five miles up, and it's pretty windy up here and chilly.
So we're really debating whether or not to go in.
But honestly, if we do go in, I'm not getting my hair wet
because that makes all the difference, I think.
I want to go in.
Let's show where we have to walk down.
Let me show you the background.
And it looks, it's honestly beautiful.
Look at this.
That's crazy.
And we're just thinking about walking down there.
There's a little bit treacherous to get down there.
Maybe down that way.
Yeah.
And then we'll maybe paddle.
Maybe we should swim out into the middle.
Yeah, let's do it.
See how far, see who can get to the other side the quickest.
Let's do that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
She dived in.
Did she?
Yeah.
Oh, nice.
Where is she?
I can't see her.
Oh yeah, I can see her.
There's someone in the water down there.
Right, that's it.
Let's go.
Okay, we just scrambled down these big boulders here.
And we're right next to the water.
Feel it, James.
What's the temperature saying?
Chilly?
It's a cold one.
It's not really cold.
It's not as cold as Blue Pool in Oregon.
But it is still cold.
It's literally, there's waves.
There's waves.
That's how windy it is here right now.
Are you going to go in first?
Yeah, shall I?
Yeah.
All right.
Put your trunks on.
I'm a big boy.
Look at that view.
James is getting nervous.
I don't do nerves.
Before I turned this camera on, you were nervous.
Are you ready?
You ready for this?
Have you got this?
This is the most beautiful place I've probably ever taken a swim, right?
Yep.
Gotta be up there.
Be careful when you...
Are you going to dive in?
I'm going to have to, right?
Be careful for the rocks, yeah?
Look at the surroundings.
You got this, boy.
Be brave.
I'm here for you when you get out.
Yeah.
I'm here for you.
What are you going to do?
I'm supporting you.
Let's go.
Yes.
How is it?
Fresh?
That's beautiful.
Wow.
Let's go.
Well done.
Well done, Ramsey.
Cold?
That's refreshing.
Is it cold?
It's not too cold.
Okay.
It's actually like a good temperature.
Okay.
All these rocks are moving.
Oh no, we're too tall.
No.
This is a perfect time for you to get in there, baby.
I'm not getting my hair wet.
I'm too scared to be cold.
You know what?
I'm scarred from Tamalitch Falls Blue Pool from being so cold afterwards.
Here she goes.
Okay.
Here she goes.
Okay.
It's cold, isn't it?
It's not too bad.
It's nowhere near as bad as Tamalitch Blue Pool.
Go on.
You got this.
Get in there, girl.
Yes.
Look at those views.
Wow.
It's good.
It is good.
It's actually not too bad.
No, no.
You're just covered in goose pimples for no reason.
She's playing it off.
Look at these little flies here.
Lovely.
You in again?
Mate, she's a daredevil.
The only thing I don't like is how far it goes down.
It's very deep, yeah.
That's what's scaring me.
Honey.
Let's go.
Glad I went in.
It was chilly.
I've got goose bumps everywhere.
But I'm glad I went in.
Otherwise, I would have felt like I didn't do the hike properly.
You know what I mean?
We're now on our way back down and the views have cleared up even more.
Look at that.
That's crazy.
So insane.
We made it.
Mile 10 and we're back.
That...
I'm not gonna lie.
My legs are dead and I'm very tired and I'm very happy to see some vehicles.
The RV.
Let's go.
We did it.
That was the toughest hike we've ever done.
That was the longest and highest hike in elevation we have ever done.
And let me tell you, the last bit was...
Our legs are in bits.
The way down, it feels so much longer than the way up for some reason.
It just kept going and going and going.
We barely spoke on the way down.
That's how you know it was painful.
And when we saw the cars, we cheered.
We were like, yes.
Yay.
Look at the car.
The parking lot full of the RV.
Woo.
Like, yes.
I'm proud of us.
Give me a spud.
Ow.
I pulled a moss on my leg.
That was so amazing.
That was such an amazing hike, but tough on the way down.
It didn't...
It was obviously tough on the way up, but the way down was just never ending.
You guys got to let us know in the comments, what's the craziest hike you've ever done?
What's the most amazing hike you've ever done?
And have you done this hike before?
Let us know.
