【Classical music and nature 古典音樂小站】Johann Sebastian Bach: 15 Sinfonias, BWV 787-801 - 9. Sinfonia in F minor, BWV 795. This beautiful piece was played by Randolph Hokanson. The Inventions and Sinfonias, BWV 772-801, also known as the Two and Three Part Inventions, are a collection of thirty short keyboard compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750).
This is what Bach wrote on the scores of the 15 Sinfonias:
"Forthright instruction, wherewith lovers of the clavier, especially those desirous of learning, are shown in a clear way not only 1) to learn to play two voices clearly, but also after further progress 2) to deal correctly and well with three obbligato parts, moreover at the same time to obtain not only good ideas, but also to carry them out well, but most of all to achieve a cantabile style of playing, and thereby to acquire a strong foretaste of composition."
Somtimes the footage of the video underlines the music really beautifully. In this video, with "Inventions and Sinfonias" the leading melodies or you could call them the two voices in the music piece, are in a slower pace. The storm waves on Lake Brienz, captured in Slowmotion, gives the viewers the time and space to enjoy the slower music a lot. It is said, that in playing slower pieces the musician has to showcase his full talent. As with very fast pieces one can overplay ones flaws a lot better. So in an slower piece, there is no room for the musician to slack off, as he needs to fill every note with intent and express what the componist had in mind, whild writing it. I love Bachs slower pieces exactly for that reson. Slower pieces are letting us deeply in Bachs world of music.
The video was captured by Simone Schlegel and was edited by Wenjing Ma.
