I invited a special guest also today, Polish and Japanese couple! I heard a lot of things from them, the reason they met, the tips for foreign languages etc. Part 2 is coming soon, stay tuned!😆
Dziękuję (Thank you) Miłego dnia (Have a nice day)
Hi, I'm Ken.
Today, Polish and Japanese couple, Arek and Nozomi are here
I'm interviewing with them!
I'm nervous...
Nozomi-san contacted me through Facebook and we got to know each other
So, can you introduce yourself first?
A little, please. I want to deep dive into it
OK, my name is Arek
I'm working as a Japanese teacher
I've been a teacher for 9 years
Actually, I got into Japan when I was in junior high
I decided to enter Japanese language department then
And I entered Japanese language department in Poznan
I studied for 5 years and joined an internship halfway
I did the internship in the hotel for about 10 months
How about you, Nozomi?
For me, Poland is the first European country
I came here 7 or 8 months ago
To be honest, I wasn't interested in Poland at all
Are you ok to say it?
Most of my followers are Polish lol
Anyway,
Poland is not so famous country for Japanese, isn't it?
In fact, most of Japanese people go to France, U.K. or Italy for vacations, right?
So, few people have the choice to go to Poland
I was one of them, who wanted to go to France or Italy
But, the pandemic happened in the country I was going to
I had to cancel the contract and look for other countries
As a result, I realized Poland was not so strict to the rules
I also heard there're some English schools in Poznan, Poland
So, I decided to go there but...
I quit the school in 2 or 3 months
She is studying in my house
Yes, I moved to Arek's house
I'm studying online and sometimes helping Arek's work now
All right, cut to the chase,
How did you know each other?
Party, right?
Homeparty!
In Poznan, parties are often held, which Polish people studying Japanese gather at
I was invited and found him
He was speaking really fluently
Not so good
How humble you are lol
And, we talked a lot. Maybe, it was the start
To be honest, he's not my type at all
At that time, I had beard (Nozomi) Yes, he was totally different!
Polish men have beard, don't they?
(Nozomi) Yes, yes!! (Arek) Seriously?
I don't like beard so he was not cool at all
I don't have it now
It seems like the first impression was not good (Nozomi) Not at all
How about Arek? To Nozomi?
Well... she was so talkative
She was talking all the time and I was just...
"Oh, I see... that's interesting...!"
At that moment, didn't you want to make her your girlfriend?
No, no.
After that, what was going on?
You texted me on next day, right? (Arek) Yes, through Messenger
I think if he didn't do that, we are not together now
I don't text from myself so...
Anyway, he texted me and we promised to hang out
Then, I asked him to visit "a place" where I wanted to go
He said: "OK. Where is it?"
Me: "It's Wrocław."
He was like "Why is the far one?!"
Why is the far place for the first date?
You're right. (Arek) 200km is a little...
He chose the another place instead and we went there together
It was the first time for us to meet one on one
However, the funniest thing is he got pulled over for speeding
I did it for the first time in my life
Maybe, you got so excited
That's so funny lol
I don't know lol
That was crazy, he was driving so fast
I was so scared
That was only 120km/h... (Ken) It's fast lol
Because of that, you thought he is an interesting person?
Well, I think...
For example, if it happened, paying some fine and the license being suspended for 3 months
it's normal for most people to have a little awkward mood on a date
Some people might be angry or panicked
but he was always smiling (Arek) That's life!
So, I changed my mind, "He is a good person"
I respected the action which most of ordinary people can't do
That's the start for me
After that...? Tell me more!
(Nozomi) Next? (Arek) Next date is...
Yes, I told him that I didn't know about Poznan even though I lived there
He was surprised and we promised to go somewhere again
And we met after a week
That was the second date? (A&N) Yes, yes.
How many dates did you have until you belong together?
Honestly, we felt each other on the second date, didn't we?
(Arek) We felt it!! (Ken) Sounds good!
Also, Kokuhaku (confessing the love) is only Japanese culture, right?
There's not that culture here so...
We belong together before we know it
It is possible to feel it? I often hear about it
(Nozomi) I wouldn't say yes... (Arek) Hmm...
Yeah, you can feel it to some extent
"To some extent" is too subtle
If you love her but she doesn't love you, then... (Nozomi) Yes, exactly!
It can be but...
You know...
Love is like game, right?
(Ken) That's so cool (Nozomi) I don't get it lol
So... Just try!
(Ken) Go for Broke! (Arek) Yeah, yeah
Let's back to the topic before you belong together
When you were in Japan, you were working? (Nozomi) Yes, yes.
You quit your job and decided to go abroad? (Nozomi) Yes.
Why? It's kind of...
Actually, I haven't stuck in Japan for a long time
I've visited some countries
Of course, I couldn't go while the pandemic happened
How should I say... I have a lot of tattoos as you can see
If you have tattoos, you can't do what you want in Japan, right?
So, my final goal is to find the another country which I love and to live there
I'm looking for it right now
That is the Nozomi's root
Arek, what's the reason you got into Japan?
The reason is stupid... (Ken) No worries.
I was watching an American movie when I was in junior high
Then, I found an actress in the movie
She looked like Asian
I don't know why but... I thought she is Japanese
I thought she is Japanese and started searching about Japan
For example, I found a Japanese singer named Ayumi Hamasaki
I was just curious about her, and listened to her songs, watched her live concerts...
In the concert, she did not only performance but also talking with other members
They were talking and laughing
I... I don't know why but I also laughed at the same time
I just wanted to know "the reason I was laughing"! (Ken) What a curiosity...
So, I've decided to enter Japanese language department since junior high
If you didn't think the actress is Japanese, you might learn Korean or Chinese now?
She is Korean... lol (Nozomi) He realized it later
I realized it after a few years
You're rare. Most people like anime or Japanese culture so...
It's after that
The first reason is the actress and Ayumi Hamasaki? (Arek) Yes.
After that, you entered Japanese language department in Poznan
And... You're so fluent, aren't you? (Arek) Not so much.
How did you study?
Probably, some of my viewers are studying Japanese
Actually, I wouldn't say I'm genius
I had many difficulties at the beginning
When I was in third grade at uni, I took courage to speak
That's the most important thing
If you are afraid of speaking and don't speak, you can't improve yourself
If you don't speak, you can't improve your speaking as you know
So, I took courage to speak when I was in third grade
I could improve to some extent
Of course, basic study is important
You mean it's important to study the basic by yourself and speak with your friends, right?
The friends are the students in your major? (Arex) Sometimes.
And while joining an internship in fifth grade,
I talked with my customers and colleagues a lot
It made me improve even more
Finally, can you tell us the good points of Poland and Japan? (Arek) Maybe, it's easier for me lol
The good points of Japan? Well...
Vending machines are everywhere
My apartment also had one
Also, convenience stores are everywhere, 24/7
However, you have Żabka, right?
Żabka only open until 11 p.m., right?
Some of them might open for 24/7 but there're few
Vending machine, convenience store and...
Omotenashi?
The staff members "always" smile for some reason (Ken) The Japanese hospitality
I love it so much
Thank you. How about Nozomi?
Well, I didn't know about Poland at all
As I said, I wasn't coming here so I even didn't search
but I realized after coming...
The buildings are so colorful!
Because I was living in the center of Poznan at the beginning, I thought "Why they are so colorful?!"
Japan doesn't have the buildings and the culture (Ken) The European style
And they look like castles
Also I love Disney and somethings like Princess so...
"What a beautiful place it is!!"
I was surprised and it's one of the good points
Also... There's a lot of nature
Japan also don't have a lot of amazing nature or lakes
Poland has many places to relax
What else...
I like food
Especially, I love all of the Polish sweets
And, what's that? Rolled cabbage? (Arek) Gołąbki
Gołąbki! I like it
Also, what Ken was eating...
Flaki? (Nozomi) Yes! I like it
I love all of them so far
Blood soup as well? (Nozomi) Yeah, that's good
You uploaded a TikTok video about it, right?
(Nozomi) Like that (Ken) OK, thank you
