Apple saw iPhone exports from India jump by a third in value terms from a year earlier in the six months through September. Sankalp Phartiyal reports on Bloomberg Television.
This is a story that's been ongoing for some time. Just how much further away has Apple moved from China at this point.
We reported last year. India's fiscal year begins in April and ends in March. We reported last year that Apple was making
around 14 billion dollars of iPhones in India. That's the total production we're talking about. So Apple has very steadily but
very quietly increased their reliance in India. And they now make just under 10 percent of their global output from India. So
this is a huge step for them. And you know we're just talking about the elections. If Trump comes to power India would be a
great base for Apple to rely on. Well in terms of products and delivery they may well be moving away from China but they're also
starting to roll out their A.I. product on a number of devices. What do we get. How is it going to change my life.
So the A.I. rollout is yet to come out in India. But I mean we all know that they're using open A.I. for now. I don't think
generated A.I. changes your life drastically. It's more of a very powerful search engine. You can write poetry on it or ask it to
tell you the latest. But I mean I don't think it's going to transform your life as of now to be honest.
