- One of our mantras here at He Spoke Style
is that versatility is king.
Doing more with less is where it's at.
And in this video,
I'm going to take an absolute undisputed
summer essential, chinos, three colors,
stone, navy, and white, and we'll show you
six different ways, you can wear them.
(powerful upbeat music)
You're watching He Spoke Style.
I'm Brian Sacawa.
If you're new here at He Spoke Style,
we are dedicated to giving you
all the tips, knowledge and inspiration you need
to help you dress well,
feel more confident and unlock your potential.
So we've got three pairs of chinos, a stone, a navy,
and a white pair.
And what I'm gonna do is to show you two ways
to style each.
We're gonna do a dressy, more business casual
kind of look, and then something more relaxed,
but still sophisticated.
Let's get to it.
Okay, first look here.
Simple, classic, versatile navy blazer, ice blue shirt,
stone colored chinos.
Would work in the office,
would work for some type of summer event,
like if you were gonna be a guest at a wedding.
In the summer, a stone color, I think is a great alternative
to a more traditional khaki.
Still has that same sort of vibe, but for the warmer months,
a lighter color really matches the season, in my opinion.
We've talked about this before,
but when you have a solid base in terms of color,
it's nice to add in some pattern for a little variety.
We've got that here with the tie,
and subtly with the dots of the pocket square.
Classic sunglasses, simple watch and horsebit loafers
finish this look off
Our second look here with the stone chinos
really isn't about the chinos at all.
It's about the jacket.
Every guy needs to have a great sport coat.
It's stylish, it's fun, it's relaxed.
And it's a really easy way to take a simple look,
like here, just a white shirt and stone chinos,
up a notch to create a focal point for the entire look.
This pattern here is what's considered a gun club check,
and we've got patch pockets for a more casual vibe.
Because this is sort of like a cooler kind
of style-centric look, that's a term,
I went with my Persol 714s.
And what I really like about these sunglasses
is the way that it kind of creates a balance
with the shoes.
They're similar in color.
And they provide a really great upper
and lower frame for the outfit.
Moving on now to our navy pair,
and another very simple classic
and kind of a do anything outfit.
This particular combination,
a light gray or heather gray jacket,
with a white shirt and navy chinos,
really could work in any season.
But what makes it appropriate for summer in this instance
is the jacket fabric.
It's a fresco fabric,
which means it's light, it's breathable and airy.
And the fact that I have this jacket completely unlined
is another detail that makes this a very cool,
literally and figuratively, summer jacket.
It's got kind of a sporty vibe I feel,
which is why I chose my IWC Ingeniuer,
and keeping it elevated with a suede belt and suede loafers.
For our casual navy chinos look here,
I'm going super sporty,
which I know some of you will love,
and some of you will love not quite as much.
Now, if you like the sneakers with a suit look,
but don't think you can pull it off,
try something like this,
where you've got a jacket and pants
rather than the full suit,
similar, but different.
Notice that this outfit is generally very simple.
Couple classic colors, and the white tee shirt,
and the white sneakers really providing some balance.
Two things that really make it pop though
is the texture of my jacket
and my funky Hollywood sunglasses.
And the final sporty element here is my watch
a pre-Bond Omega Seamaster.
Moving onto white chinos now, and admittedly,
this is not a dressy look compared to like the first look.
But stay tuned later in the week
because we've got a video coming out
dedicated to showing you different ways
to wear white pants, and there will definitely be
some dressier looks there.
Really simple here though, with a light tan polo,
deeper placket, makes it unique, and a stronger color
would hold up really well under the sweater
which I have over my shoulder.
Some gold details throughout in the belt buckle,
watch, sunglasses, and on the horsebit loafers.
This is actually an HSS throwback look.
About four years ago,
we did a post on the website
about the history of boat shoes.
And this was pretty much the exact look.
Navy hopsack jacket, denim shirt, white pants,
same sunglasses, same watch, same boat shoes,
and same contrasting color pocket square.
Go look it up on the site, if you do not believe me.
This look obviously has a very nautical vibe
thanks to the boat shoes and the navy and white.
If this one doesn't happen to be your cup of tea,
that's fine.
I've got lots more summer outfit inspiration
in that playlist over there, some smart casual,
a couple of summer suit ideas,
and even a minimalist summer wardrobe.
So check that out and don't forget.
Stay tailored.
