Tying your own bow tie can be a frustrating experience, especially if you are a beginner. However, wearing a self-tie bow tie is the mark of a true gentleman, so it behooves you to finally dig in and learn how to do it! In this video, I'm showing you, step-by-step, an easy way to tie a bow tie.

Full disclosure: the method taught in this video does not work with all bow ties. You must be able to disconnect the two halves of the bow tie in order to tie a bow tie this way.

The key to this method is not actually tying the bow tie while it is around your neck. Instead, you tie it on a table (or any flat surface).

I much prefer tying my bow ties this way and here are the reasons why:

1. Less frustrating
2. More control over details like dimples
3. Perfect every time

It takes just a bit of practice, but if you learn how to do it this way, you'll be tying your bow ties faster and better than ever.
