Anyuan Bridge Lighting - 2024 IALD Award of Merit

The Anyuan Bridge is a lightweight structure that spans the Suzhou River. The design team innovatively applied integrated resin luminous panels to the bridge's railing to create a light band at night, like layers of gauze. A radar sensor captures pedestrians' location and walking state, visualized in real-time dynamic effects, and presented by continuous luminous plates with distinct seasonal modes. As pedestrians share in the light's flow, the resin plates' transparent characteristics make the effect visible both on and off the bridge.

The 2024 IALD International Lighting Design Awards was celebrated in a San Diego, California, presentation event. Twenty-eight projects from ten countries were recognized and applauded for demonstrating exceptional lighting design and contributing to the professional community.

Now in its 41st year, the IALD International Lighting Design Awards is the longest-running program that recognizes architectural lighting design excellence. Receiving an IALD award is universally heralded as the top honor in the lighting design industry. Since its inception in 1983, the IALD International Lighting Design Awards has honored lighting design that reaches new heights, moves beyond the ordinary, and represents excellence in aesthetic and technical design achievement.
