Hello you, hello traveler! We're over here next to the Acropolis today and welcome back to the
Definitely Greece channel. Here you will find all the best information about everything Greece.
In this video we're gonna go over seven tips on how to make your next trip to Greece a little bit
more budget-friendly and you might wonder, definitely Greece it's a luxury travel company,
what do we know about budgeting tips? Well we get asked this question all the time so here we go.
Tip number one. Greece has over 6 000 islands but only two of them get all the attention.
Yeah you guessed it, Mykonos and Santorini. And it will come as no surprise that these two are
actually some of the most expensive destinations in Greece as well. Lucky for you you have hundreds
if not thousands of more of amazing destinations to choose for your next trip to Greece. If you
want to experience the cycladic Greek island living then a good alternative for you to look
into perhaps is Serifos. If you're looking for a more family-friendly destination where you can
explore further then maybe Crete island is the perfect destination for you. And if you want to
explore a little bit more off the beaten track then perhaps check out Limnos island in the north
of Greece. Tip number two. That's actually something as simple as the time of the year
you're choosing to visit. A lot of things around Greece operate on a seasonal basis therefore have
seasonal pricing. As a general rule of thumb July and August are always going to be the most expensive
months. In some destinations that spills over to September and May or June. However if you still
want to enjoy the warm weather then May or September are usually a pretty safe option
no matter which destination you're looking into. Tip number three. This is more of a practical tip
that you can utilize no matter where you're visiting and this is the secret weapon of where
you can choose to eat. If you want to have a quick affordable lunch then don't forget about
the quintessential Greek bakery. Greek bakeries can be found in almost every corner and have a wide
selection from cold to warm dishes such as pies, sandwiches, drinks and a lot more. This is a great
way to get acquainted to some of the Greek delicacies that you might not find in other places
and don't forget to have a slice of Spanakopita. In the same category is again another secret weapon
Yeah I know it's really hard to pronounce but you can spell it like that. These are usually family
run little restaurants that serve only lunch or sometimes dinner too and they make everything fresh
on the same day. And again that is a great way for you to try some of the best traditional Greek
cuisine. And don't worry there's plenty of vegan and vegetarian options as a lot of the traditional
Greek cuisine is actually meat free. So what's the top item on your Greek trip? What are you looking
forward the most in seeing in Greece? Drop it in the comments below so we have a better idea of the
kind of content you want to see. So number four. Again that should come as a no-brainer but don't
skip over the things that actually are free like watching a beautiful sunset, plenty of hiking
spots, going to the beach or exploring a national park. Do your research as there are plenty of
options no matter where you're visiting in our beautiful country. And if you're looking for more
ideas specifically for Athens don't forget to check our video on Athens. Tip number five. This
one is for the history lovers. Don't forget to check out free walking tours. Have a look at the
free walking tours that are on offer and book one ahead of time. Most of them are actually run by
expert archaeologists that will give you an amazing depth of information and guidance on which ancient
ruins to visit, what might be suited best to your trip, as well as general tips on what you can do
in Athens, where to eat and what else to visit. Tip number six. This is again a general tip about
food related stuff because half the experience is really where you eat and what you eat. Because as
you know every vacation can go from good to great with amazing food. Maybe you've heard this before,
maybe you haven't, but if the restaurant you're choosing to eat at has pictures of the food on
their menu or in their advertising, maybe reconsider. These restaurants are mostly geared towards
tourists so you might definitely find something more authentic if you look a little further
and see a menu that's actually completely in Greek. Do not hesitate to ask someone to translate
or if there's an English menu that you can have a look at. Most people are more than happy to help
you out. Oh, if you're tired of walking, tip number seven. Apply for an international driver's license
ahead of your trip. This will allow you to rent a car, scooter or ATV and explore more around the
island or city you're visiting. This will save you a ton of time and will allow you to explore deeper
and further in whatever destination you're visiting. It also means you can look at further
accommodation options, perhaps away from the busy centers, which of course is usually more affordable.
And as a bonus tip, tip number eight. Ask the locals, mingle with the locals and trust the locals, whether
it's your travel agent, tour guide and of course if you don't have a local in mind, we can be the
local for you. Drop your questions in the comments below so we can help you with planning your ideal
