So we got called out for raccoons in garage, but then when we showed up here, if you look
at the house, the garage is attached to the main house.
You can see the soffit has been pulled down here and that could have either been done
from the inside or the outside.
We're not sure how the mom is using that yet.
And then if you come into the garage, we have half of it's drywalled, so half of it she
wouldn't be able to get access to the space through.
But if you look up to the left here, she can go over those spaces and get into the soffit
and then come around into the drywall spot.
And as we were standing here talking to the customer, right above me I could hear, I can
hear it again, little movements and it sounds like babies are up there just moving.
They must be bigger that they're not crying.
They're just kind of moving around.
You can hear them right now.
They're about right here.
So we'll have to figure out what we're going to do.
We have to get into the space to get the babies because they wouldn't be big enough to come
out yet.
We'll see what we decide to do on that.
We may have to cut in and we'll get started.
Okay, we're going to close the garage door so we have access up there and we're going
to cut an access hole and try to get the babies.
So there's this button.
We'll close the door.
It's very dark.
So since I'm working up where the garage door would open, we don't want anyone to open it
on me so we're just unplugging.
Make sure no one can open it while I'm up here.
And we can really hear the babies.
They're making a lot of noise right now.
Going by the sounds the babies are making, what's the sound that they're moving off?
Am I supposed to be fitting through it?
How do I get up?
I think if you do this.
You sure?
Yep, 100%.
Okay, one, two, three.
Hold on, don't go anywhere.
They're playing.
They're growling at each other.
This is so cool to see.
Can I lie?
I'll be able to reach them now.
There's the babies.
I got my baby bag.
I go a little further.
I'm going to grab one.
This guy already fell asleep.
You put them in the bag behind me.
Yep.
Okay, we're going in for number two.
Baby number two here.
They're just learning to walk.
Hi, bud.
You're having fun up here, huh?
I'm going to pass them back.
Oh, you're equally as cute.
Aren't you?
They're chubby.
Been eating good.
Yep.
And there's baby number three.
He almost got away.
But we got him.
The babies were there.
My pole is pulling them over here.
And number three, were you having fun?
You got stuff all over you.
You're in a little ball right now.
It's okay.
You want to get your knees up?
Oh, my God.
Okay.
Wow.
Oh, my God.
Impressive.
That was insane.
That was impressive.
Oh, my God.
It's shaking.
Okay.
You didn't see mom up there?
No.
Okay.
So what we'll do now, let's take a break, get you some fresh air, we'll open the door,
and then see what we can do about calling mom out.
You were having fun one minute with your siblings, and now you're outdoors.
You actually seem so shocked.
So green.
Look at them.
They're so green and bright and blue.
I expected them to be bigger with how they were moving, but they were just having fun
together up there.
It's okay.
So fluffy.
He's, like, looking around.
A little bit cross-eyed.
She ran by the baby.
You can't see him.
Now she's got him.
He starts going up.
You've got to get something to block that hole.
Hold it.
Oh, my God.
He's going to get us.
Hold on to something.
No.
Hey, mom.
Want your baby?
Not this time, mama.
We're going somewhere else.
Go, mom.
That's okay.
She's headed.
Good job.
She's just staying in this corner.
Turn left.
We might have to let her back in.
I'm not going to make this permanent.
Hopefully we can find that baby.
Put him in the same spot.
Well, we kind of made a critical error in the sense that we weren't protecting the entry hole,
and we allowed her to get back inside with the baby,
which is not terrible because we can probably go back up and find the baby.
But generally, that is something that we don't have or don't allow to happen.
But she was an extra-aggressive mother.
You could hear her when she was climbing down the downspout there.
She's growling the whole time.
Totally pissed off with the situation.
So, as you saw, she took the one baby off-site,
and our goal now is to go back up in through the garage and see if we can find it.
So, mom just tried to come back.
She's up in the windowsill with her baby.
She is determined to keep this spot.
So, Spencer is screening that right now.
She's up in the window.
I hope she doesn't push that through.
Mama, you can't stay here. No.
You can't.
You gotta go.
Go.
Take your baby.
Your baby is there.
Get your baby. Pick your baby up.
Pick your baby up.
Come on.
Okay, she's going.
Okay.
Yes, very protective.
Well, most of the time, they're not as aggressive as this.
Mom, you gotta move on.
She crossed this roof to this roof, went all the way down here,
slid down the downslope as fast as she could,
ran towards me across here,
and now she's kind of behind the shed, I think.
But she's coming back. There's no way.
That is one crazy raccoon.
She's trying.
What do you think, Spence?
I don't know. I was rushing to get that.
The soffit clothes.
That was scary.
Yeah, this is about one in a thousand raccoons.
Yeah, he can understand it.
She wants her babies,
and any mother would do the same thing.
So our job now is to find that baby that's still inside.
While we watch out for her.
Close the door behind us.
Yeah, we'll close the door behind us.
We have to anyways to get up there, but...
You're going in again, Cassandra.
Okay, here, Spence, a dumper here if you want.
Or just give it to me. I'll take it outside.
This is all the styrofoam that they destroyed
that was sprayed on the ceiling of the...
Sorry, the floor of the room above.
Hello, Dusty.
Holy! Did you look yet?
No.
Okay, we have our Reolink 4G camera.
And I have the app here so I can see what I'm setting up.
This camera is great because we don't need any Wi-Fi.
We can just set it up and then we can see it on our phones.
So we're going to put the camera right about here.
So we can see the mom come back for her baby.
And this camera is great because it's very easy to install.
The app is amazing.
And we can see later on tonight exactly what's happening with our job.
Which is what we want because usually we would...
We'd still come back a day later, but we wouldn't know what was happening overnight.
Now we know what we're coming to the next day.
Which is perfect.
Do two screws here.
And you can just position it wherever you want.
Tighten it and it stays in place.
We have our perfect view of the box.
Just lower that a bit so we can see the mom.
And then later she'll come.
We'll be able to see it.
We'll get notified when there's movement on the camera as well.
The baby will be safe and warm here while he waits.
It's about two hours later since we've left this job.
We saw on the camera in real time, the Reolink camera.
We saw the mother come and take the baby out of the box.
So we still have one baby inside above the garage that we looked all over for and couldn't find.
But she has now moved two of the babies to another location.
So our hope is that she doesn't consider this a safe place anymore.
And that she will come back tonight and look for this baby inside and take it out.
We've opened up the point of entry to allow her back inside.
And we've removed the baby box.
So it's all up to her now.
We'll monitor the situation overnight.
And there's the Reolink camera on the wall.
We'll know exactly what happens.
Hopefully, I guess the worst case scenario is that she could move the other two babies back in and continue living here.
But our hopes are that, as I said, she'll go in, find that baby, come out with it.
We can come back tomorrow and just close it all up.
Fingers crossed.
