EPW - Piguet & Meylan, Swiss, exquisite gold, enamel, and pearl-set two-train musical watch for the Chinese market, playing music on the hour and on demand, 52mm, 18K gold OF original case with magnificent polychrome enamel detail, rear with delightful image of a young woman and her suitor, band with vibrant floral detail, adjacent edges of bezel and rear with blue enamel detail, seed pearl-set bezel and rear perimeter, pendant and bow with vibrant enamel detail, maker's mark inside case rear within lozenge shape is somewhat rubbed but appears to be ""F O"" for Freres Oltramere, slide on band at 1:30 to activate music (slide is pressed downward and returned to position to initiate one cycle of musical play), gold cuvette with spectacular blue enamel floral detail that includes two perched birds and a butterfly, apertures for winding of both barrels and for setting of the hands, edge of cuvette labeled ""S"" and ""M"" for a slide beneath cuvette that allows/prevents music on the passing hour (selection of ""S"" allows music to play on the hour, selection of ""M"" silences music on the hour), white enamel dial with center-seconds, serpentine hour and minute hands, KWKS (a key is included as pictured), lever escapement, likely 15J, gilt mvt, mvt with ""P M"" monogram for Piguet & Meylan marked under dial, s#4979 within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 68.8 dwt (107.1 g). Mvt: Running, good musical function both on demand and in passing on the hours, good slide function to silence music on the hours, center-seconds-hand motion frequently stalls for a beat or two before skipping to proper position, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent gilt tone, some mild micro-fine scratches, steelwork with few small bits of oxide; nearly flawless dial with tiny glaze scratch near 8; excellent hands with some scattered small bits of oxide; case shows hardly any wear, no dents or dings, rear enameling fully intact and magnificent with only some scattered short surface scratches, band and edge enameling substantially intact with only a small bit of loss to rear edge of band between 4 and 5, pendant enameling fully intact, cuvette enameling substantially intact with only some small bits of loss; tight bow with enameling fully intact, push shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal.
