The speaker shares a curated tour of an auction preview, showcasing a diverse array of opulent antiques and contemporary furniture. The collection features French Rococo-influenced sets, intricate marquetry, allegorical clocks, and high-end glassware, highlighting the craftsmanship, artistic symbolism, and historical influences found within the exhibition.
I was in doubt if I should post this video or not, but the fact is that when I visited this
auction preview, I really saw so many beautiful objects that I really wanted to share them with
because they are very, very special. And we start by these very opulent
pieces of furniture all together, including those chairs, the table, and that beautiful,
magnificent jardinière on the top of the table. And this is a really, really beautiful and very
special with a lot of influence, French Rococo. It's an incredible set. Look to the top of the
marble. The white marble on the table is absolutely beautiful with all those veins,
with all those gray veins. It's really special. And this piece of porcelain, which is called
the jardinière, it's absolutely stunning. I think it's a very beautiful object. It's quite
big, imponent, because it's almost 72 centimeters from one side to the other. And it's made in
porcelain. And what is quite interesting is the fact that all the ornaments are in gold.
And in the front and also in the back, there are two painted areas. Here we can see several musical
instruments and a background that is connected to the nature. And it's all framed by that disc
of gold, which is very, very beautiful. On the chairs, this fabric is called, we call it the
blue damask. And what is quite interesting is the fact that all the wood, that these pieces are
carved in wood, and they are so well done, so much work. It's really a work of labor and love,
because it's those curves. It's really, really beautiful pieces, a magnificent set, I think.
I always like to make some little views around what I see around. And it's quite interesting,
because in this auction room, especially on this exhibition, there were a lot of sofas. And
what is even more curious is the fact that a lot of them were Chesterfield. So for the
Chesterfield lovers, this was a very good auction to acquire an exemplar. For example,
this green one that we are seeing here, it's a Chesterfield. Here, I think it's another beautiful
set, you see. And look to this precious clock. This is a garniture with those two chandeliers
for the candles. But look to the detail that you can find in this clock. It's absolutely,
absolutely stunning. On the top of the clock, it's seated over the clock, this female figure,
and the little boy is the Cupid. And I think that the lady is an allegory to the music or to the
arts. Because here on the base, we can see a lyre. And the lyre is always connected with the
arts and with the music. So I think that this is the meaning of the presence of the lady and
the Cupid. Obviously must be related also with love because Cupid is there. But look to the
details on the base. You can stay looking for hours. These two candelabra are also very beautiful.
There is a lot of detail on the way they are sculpted. And they totally make just a great set
together, both chandelier and the clock. The white dial is with Roman numerals. And all of this is
above this beautiful comet that has a beautiful marquetry. Look to the veins of the wood,
the way it was applied to make all those effects. And look to the bronze mountain,
mountains that in the detail that everything is done. It's really, really very special.
There were always a very big careful with the marquetry on the more antique times.
There is so many different objects always to see and to watch and to go around. It's always so
fun to come to these auction previews. There is always beautiful, beautiful objects to look for
and to see and to have an opinion over it. It's really, really special. Also, there is always
a lot of crystals and glasses and pieces made by with glass. A lot of very important houses
and manufacturers of glass pieces are always present. Normally, those here are
which is a very famous glass maker in Belgium. They could make beautiful pieces with a lot of
detail. It's really, really special and beautiful. And I thought that suddenly we just jumped so many
years after. This part of the exhibition, I was quite curious about it because of the form
of the design of the sofas. I love the color and this olive green color. But I also love the shape
of the sofas. I think they are very special because they are totally different. The table
in the center is also quite beautiful because it has a beautiful marble top. And this is a very
beautiful decoration for a living room. This beautiful clock is also a very, very special
piece. I think you see the lady that is seated. I think it's probably also an allegory or the image
of victory or Nike. Because if you look with attention, she's holding this red crown
on her arm to crown the winner. And also here on the base, we can see a winged figure
that is also with a trumpet, which is normally associated with the victory and with the fame.
So I think what makes this clock so special is the conjunction of the beauty and also
the lady that is an allegory to the victory. The feet of the candelabra are also very special
because they are in the form of animal legs. It's quite interesting. But they are over a base of
marble. There are always beautiful paintings also, but they are always very high. We cannot
see so much detail. But all this clock and the both candelabra are over this beautiful
piece of furniture in Mahogany. I think that this console is also amazing.
Another beautiful cabinet.
This is a beautiful table that I also found quite interesting because look again to the
mark tree that is applied. The curves also on the legs and the way they are sculpted is also
very, very beautiful. But the details on the mark tree on the top of the table are really,
really amazing. The chairs need a little bit of restoration. But look now to the mark tree,
to the details of the different inlays of wood that were applied to create all these
shadows, all these different colors so it could make this beautiful design.
This gives a lot of value to this table. Very beautiful. A lot of people were curious about it
also. This is a quite interesting clock. It's a portic clock because of this architectural
way that it's done. When I was looking at it, I had the feeling that it has a lot of
Chinese influence. It's decorated with a lot of figures and although it's not oriental,
I think that the way it was crafted and it was made took a lot of influence of the oriental
pieces. Because all these details, the way it's painted, it's quite, quite special.
I'm more used to see that in pieces that are with an oriental provenance.
Now we can see here better the details on the base. The small figures are so well painted with
so much detail. And what is quite interesting, this is the pendulum. So I believe that the
pendulum was free from the clock and now needs to be restored. But it's a quite special and
quite interesting piece also. Going around this exhibition is always
very, very special and I was going to say fun, but it is. I love it. I love to come to this
exhibition and have all the pleasure to discover the pieces and to see this area also which has a
lot of more contemporary pieces. It's always so very special. I love to go to this area too.
We find here all kind of different objects and this is what I wanted to show you
this week. So I hope you enjoyed the video and the different objects that I put in this selection
and I want to wish you a wonderful weekend and I hope I can see you very soon on the next video
about another auction that I may go. Thank you for watching. Stay well and see you soon. Bye-bye.
