News Highlights | EMX 250 Race 2 | MXGP of Turkiye 2024

Here's what happened race 2 then, EMX 250 here in Turkey at Affion. Kasvolk thought he got a good jump, but it was Valin to the inside, Mats Frenzel to the outside in red. But as we got down into Turn 2, it was Max Werner who led the way for JM Honda. Valerio Latte was there second, Ivano Van Aert went around the outside of him to move into second, and that was crucial because a couple of corners later as Van Aert got into trouble on the exit of Turn 4. Guess what happened? Wrong place, wrong time for the unsuspecting Valerio Latte. He was ejected out of the side door. That promoted Valin into third place, and he knew he could gain vital ground on his closest rival in the championship. When he got going, he found his way around the outside of Werner. That put him into second on lap 2. Eskandar fell a couple of positions as he was challenging Benjamin Garib. That was from 6th to about 8th or 9th place. And then Latte, sorry, Kas Volk eventually got the better of Werner. As he moved up into third on lap 5, that's where he would stay, or so he thought. Down the inside, Latte getting the better of Werner, and then two and a half laps to go. That was Van Aert just stalling in the turn. He eventually fired it back into life, but Valin had taken over the lead. Van Aert was now into second. That win was going to elude him once more. Over the line, though, for the win for the eighth time this season. Mathis Valin from Van Aert, Volk, Latte, and Towers, and the overall classification belonging to Mathis Valin. Two wins out of two for the second time this year. The last time he did that was round four. At his home round in France, he now extends his championship lead to 21 over Latte. Valin, Van Aert, Latte, that was your podium here in Appium. Mathis Valin, congratulations. You've just gone 1-1 to get another overall victory. You were right where you needed to be, applying the pressure when Van Aert made his mistake. Yeah, it was really a good weekend. It's been a long time I do the 1-1, so it was quite good. We worked a lot this last week, so it was better this weekend, and we see the work, so it was good, and now we focus on the last round. We have the red plate, and we need the champion now.
