Overgrown Paths Are DANGEROUS! Helping Tidy Up Bexley..

Now, it's a gloomy day in Crayford.
On last week's video,
we had several comments mentioning this.
Now, I believe it's fallen down.
It's completely blocking the footpath.
Have a look what it's doing.
One comment said that they were forced off the path
with their pram.
It's slippery, muddy, and well, look at this trip hazard.
Bearing in mind, there's a steep bank there
leading you right into the River Cray.
Dad, I really think it would benefit the video
to show an example of someone tripping
and then into the river.
Yeah, do you?
It's an absolute mammoth task.
We've already had two people pass by
and say thank you for getting this done.
So what are we gonna do, Dad?
Let's stop waffling and get cracking.
As you all know, we always find litter.
Fancy that dip yet?
Now, we have made a huge dent in that already.
I believe, I'm not sure if it had fallen over,
to be honest, because it's consumed with ivy all over it,
which I think is just restricting the trees
and sort of killing them off.
So here, we're doing great, as you can see.
We've just trimmed this side of these brambles
that are poking in someone's face.
But here, you still can't get a pram down
without going on the mud.
So we're gonna take it just a foot back,
which obviously, you're gonna lose all of this green,
but people can use the path,
and that bit there really sticks over.
So yeah, let's get cracking on that.
So here's another really large part
overgrown onto the path.
So we're gonna trim it back
and see if we can just, yeah, get around it.
Last chance, a dip.
Show people how dangerous it could have been.
Just a few hours graft, and that is looking amazing.
So it's obviously coming up to autumn, rainy season,
at least that's clear now,
and people don't have to go in the mud.
And I've just showed you the steep bank into River Cray.
We've got this massive pile here.
So we're gonna let the council know,
just see if they want us to take it away,
and I'll come back another trip,
or if they wanna take it away,
or it can be left there to mulch.
So I'll let them decide.
Now it's only lunchtime,
so I feel like we've got a few jobs left in us.
Let's go see what else is about.
This has popped up on Fix My Street.
So this is completely blocking the path here
and obstructing the view for the pedestrian crossing.
So it's literally, it's only a small amount.
So we're gonna literally get rid of that now,
and that'll be all sweet.
There we go.
Now I can't be as thorough as I'd like here.
Obviously it's a main road,
so we've literally just done this bit,
nice 10 minutes,
bathed it all up,
and now you can see the crossing.
All right, I think we've got time for some more.
Found some litter.
Yeah, let's get cracking.
Right, so I've dropped Dad off to the dentist,
get a new tooth or something like that.
While we're on the way,
I've just seen two dirty signs.
And after last week,
I found that so satisfying.
So gonna jump out now and clean them up.
Look how grimy these are.
Got a few there.
And there we go.
Both looking fresh.
So we just noticed this at the last second.
As you can see,
there is a sign behind all the overgrowth,
and that'll be,
you know, it now goes to 30.
And it's a bit grubby.
So let's clean that up and trim this up.
My original intentions was just literally
to clear away for one sign and clean it.
We've now cleaned four signs
and cleaned all the way out there,
which kind of makes this bit look worse now.
So we're just gonna clear that bit.
And then this whole stretch is done.
I was just driving home on North Quay Road,
and I saw this just at the corner wire,
this grimy sign.
So we're gonna clear up some of the foliage
to make it easier to see and clean it up.
Let's go.
Check that grime line out.
Now that was so worth it,
all day long.
Happy days.
All right.
There is the chair.
Oh, that's from your dad, isn't it?
Yeah, it's quite heavy.
Want me to carry it?
Yeah, I've got it.
It's quite heavy.
Dad said he'd give you a call
and explain how to fit it if you want.
Yeah.
I think he told me.
Yeah.
Get Jean in and out of the bath now?
Yeah, as I said to your dad,
I'll get her in.
But to get her out,
I have to get in the bowl.
All right.
And then lift her from that one right there.
Yeah.
And that can't be any good for you, is it?
On your back and stuff, is it?
Well, I'll get her up straight,
and once I've got her up straight,
it's not too bad.
Yeah.
Bless you.
How's that, Jim?
That's lovely, thanks, thanks.
You're running late,
you're gonna be in trouble.
Yeah, I'm gonna be in,
I'm so hungry as well.
Get a slack now, won't you?
Yeah.
Yeah, I've got a picture of Jane and Lee.
Oh, there.
18, isn't it?
18,
27.
Oh.
Long time ago.
It ain't got rid of yet.
No, no.
15,
18.
You're doing all right, aren't you?
And that's another job off the list.
I think we've got less than two weeks now
until, hopefully, the planning permission is approved.
I'm knackered at this point.
So, something I haven't shown you yet.
This is a letter of commendation
from the mayor of Bexley.
So, basically, just says thank you
for all the help in the community,
to the groups, and to individuals,
residents or organizations of the borough.
So, yeah, it's quite a mental thing
to receive a letter like this,
and just at the end it says,
carry on doing what you're doing
and for the voluntary work.
So, yeah, it feels epic to sort of receive this
and at least a validation or a pat on the back,
but it's just nice to know that the council
see what I'm doing and they're happy with it.
Another thing that I didn't say,
I've also been invited to go to the Pride of Britain Awards
on the GoFundMe table,
which is absolutely insane.
So, thank you so much for watching these videos
and just what we're achieving together
is absolutely insane.
And I'll see you in the next one.
Cheers.
