21 years ago, on his 25th birthday, poet Haizi committed suicide by lying on the railway tracks. His mother, unaware, prepared red rice porridge for him in their village. Haizi's death devastated her, and she has watched over his grave for 21 years. Haizi entered Peking University at 15 and became a poet, but ultimately chose to end his life.
