Passacaglia by Norwegian composer Johan Halvorsen is doubly attributed to Handel and Halvorsen. It is a celebrated virtuoso piece for violin and violoncello (or violin and viola), published in 1894, and is based on a final movement from the German composer Georg Frideric Handel's Suite in G minor, HWV 432, published in 1720.

Handel composed many harpsichord suites that included dance movements, sometimes ending with the traditional baroque passacaglia, a term originally used to describe a Spanish 'street dance', although the earliest surviving examples are Italian.

A celebrated violinist, conductor and composer in his own right, Halvorsen is best remembered today for his brilliant 'extrapolation' of Handel's passacaglia for an audacious two string ensemble.

The video was shot by Simone Schlegel in Switzerland and edited by Wenjing Ma.
