Too Busy To Sell Your Crafts…THINK AGAIN.

from the craft table that's right we are here together um because today's live is going to be a little different yes than what we have been doing um we're actually not going to be crafting today but we have some really really fun stuff to talk about yes I think that I think that you guys are going to really like this I think you all are going to be obsessed with it myself yeah um so welcome in the day after Labor Day hope you all had an amazing Labor Day weekend oh my gosh um first of all love that I mean who doesn't love a 3-day weekend I mean really well most of us got a three-day week weekend but not everybody true shout out to healthcare workers I always think like cuz I used to be in healthare I'm like I'm like they they didn't get an extra day but lots of people did so hopefully you all are feeling refreshed and ready to talk about crafting and selling first of all let's I want to start off by saying September is going to be a big month o yeah we got lots of stuff coming up is going to be a huge huge month for us here and for you guys honestly um so let's go ahead and talk about it yeah and I think com as a crafter I think coming into the bur months is what I like to call them like September October November December the bur months I think a lot of us can feel like overwhelmed between especially for people who are wanting to sell crafts around this time of the year it can be overwhelming and if you've been through a Q4 or a holiday season you know how much work it takes and also how much time you've got to divide uh between your family and like your own stuff and so that's why we wanted to talk to you guys today because we know that there are ways that you can have both you can have your happiness your family Liv your free time as well as having the time to use your creative abilities so I think I want to start off by asking you all a question and I want you guys to respond to me whether it be a hand rais emoji or maybe you just top out me but how many people here that is with us today has at least tried to sell their crafts maybe you have been successful and you have sold your craft before or maybe you've tried and you just feel like I don't know like I didn't do as well as I expected but I want you all to pop off in the chat let me know who has tried or who has sold their crafts before or who wants to sell who wants to make extra income with your creative abilities so we're seeing hands go up um if you want to wow this would also be a good time yes let me know if you have sold um Debbie says I have tried but not doing well let me know those things as well because this is really going to be for you all um maybe you are wanting to get in let me know if it's like I want to get started but I don't know where to start like listen we're going to hook y'all up today if you have been trying to find your direction on selling and you are a creative person or you just love flexing that creative muscle this is going to be the perfect place for you guys to be at okay now we are always about making and creating new things making crafts seasonal crafts for yourself and things like that but we really want to get into making money yes so we're all about here's the thing here's the struggle and this is what I feel like I have seen so much of us in the past myself included we know that we can do something we know we can make something so we see something and we're like oh my gosh I could make that and sell that M but so and you go to try but it just doesn't work right so what do you do from there that is what we're going to help you we're going to help teach you where to go how to go and honestly it's about we want to use our creative brain and use those creative juices that are flowing mhm but we don't want to spend all the time so how do we do it right so what we are going to mainly be focusing on today is selling things digitally yes so that's going to be this is going to be where you make your money is in the digital space yes and I think um whenever we start saying things like digital technology everybody's like like yeah exes they're like no thank you listen I'm all about a good craft fairer I love going to a craft fa too I love walking around checking it out y'all know I just did some crafts I just did some right I mean but I feel like a lot of us whether you sell online craft fairs in-person craft fairs you try to sell on your Facebook whatever what ends up happening and I'm going to talk about craft fair specifically I feel like you either love them or you hate them yes as you're like a craft fair goer or you're like no thank you right but I feel like a lot of times people are you're spending so much time getting ready preparing making all of this stuff how you have so much money in your inventory just to get there and like cross your fingers that you're making your fingers that everyone is going to show up but you can't control the foot trap traffic you can't control how well this whoever was in charge of the event advertised for yourself you can't control all of these different things but one thing you can control is what you post in a digital space yes that is all on you and that is something that you can control yes which is what I absolutely love about selling digitally yes and so when we say selling digitally we're talking about places like Etsy um Amazon eBay there's lots of different places you can create your own Shopify accounts and sell digitally there there are lots of different ways to cut it um Etsy is like the main one obviously you guys all know about that and that's the one that we have the most experience with if you've been on the live streams at all um Tanner has talked about how I started a digital file shop honestly just on a whim just for fun te yeah I have five files that's it five five files I've made over a hundred sales actually just got um C they sent me some money today for like 140 bucks just for the last month maybe I didn't do anything okay I created these files like over a month or two ago and I didn't do anything and that's like so life-changing for me I even sent a screenshot to trainy said that'll pay for a week of daycare that's one payment of daycare and I just think that so that could change some of y's like Financial you know I don't know what you want to call it situations yeah like and it's just that could pay your groceries for the week and this is something that you can set up yourself and just kind of I don't want to say sit and forget it because there are lots of ways to strategize and run ads and all those kinds of things but just knowing that the opportunity is there for you all and that the people that are here in the chat they have the design experience because you guys have been with us like and if you don't you can go get it off of our Channel because we are constantly teaching you all how to design your own files and things like that um and this is not we're not talking about like getting an illustrator and stuff you all can do this in canva if you've taken the canva course this is your next step okay so we we've talked about this is definitely your next step yeah so we've talked about how we want to shift our thinking it's not as much that we are shifting away from creativity because we're not we're actually using our brains to honestly sometimes in some ways be a little bit more creative in how we you know Market ourselves and all this stuff and when I say Market ourselves y'all we we're going to tell you we're this is all going to be at first it's going to be Etsy based and y'all we don't you don't have to be a marketing expert to be on Etsy no you don't but we're going to be we're going to be teaching you how to shift your mindset into this new way of actually see seeing income come in that way you can still be creative and still make stuff but you are not relying you're not in a all it's like you're either in abundance or you're in scarcity mode I feel like when you're making and selling your physical crafts a lot of times we're when we have a really good crafter I just saw somebody say so excited I sold three busted canvases and three jewelry boxes out of crafter this weekend that's great we want to celebrate those wins but what what how would you feel if you didn't sell that so you're then in a scarcity mindset instead of an abundance mindset and you've made these items and you're like oh my gosh now I have to sell them cuz they're just going to sit in my house and like who's going to buy them and then I think that that energy translates to the consumer a lot of times I think it feels like oh my gosh they're just trying to sell it like they just need to get rid of it and that's what we want to kind of get you all out of that mindset and into a place where you can craft for fun and you can get back to C in as your hobby because I think when we take our Hobby and turn it into our like main source of Finance or even just as our extra income it kind of takes the fun out of it sometimes and I know that from personal experience I've done it many times and I still do it sometimes and I think that's why doing things like selling digital files selling um print on demand selling things on Etsy digitally is so fun because you there's a time where you're creating it and then it's getting B over and over and over and over again and you're not like uh I've got to make 27 more of the same exact thing it's just they're buying the one thing you made over and over again that's the beauty of how do you sell your crafts if you're busy yeah because if you feel like you don't have enough time like we said it's all about finding balance in the digital space yes so what can you sell digitally let's let's talk about it let's talk about some of the things that you can sell digitally um I want you to drop in the chats before we start listing them for you and before we start talking about them what are some things off the top of your head that you feel like you could sell digitally um and then we're going to see how close we are how close we are to that yes and there are lots of things some things you wouldn't even think about some things you would have no clue yeah um and once you start getting I think once start getting into like if you get on Etsy and you start getting into that world you're like wow there's so much opportunity out here and we want to we're going to talk about this probably more at the master class but you do not want to limit yourself to saying oh well people in my hometown wouldn't really buy that like no we're taking all of that like negative belief around well people around me wouldn't buy that it doesn't matter because you're going to be on the worldwide web which which means it's reaching worldwide um there's a market out there for dang near everybody okay so don't limit yourself so Cara says real estate checklist for agents cut files that's a good coloring pages cut files again designs cut files planners calendars um Fanny bags patches t-shirts I mean okay welcome door signs I'm seeing a lot of svgs and pngs not a clue that is fine yes that's even better ornaments okay yes so these are all things that you can sell on Etsy but we're really looking at selling something digitally that you never touch ever ever you don't have to you never touch it this is you don't touch it it's passive income if you guys have ever heard the term passive income passive income is it's making money for you while you're sleeping you're at the beach with your family while you're gardening doing things that you love crafting um so all of the things that we're going to be teaching about is digital untouched so let's just go ahead and put this out there um I saw like stickers are going to be a physical item so you're actually going to have to make them and send them unless you can there's like little workarounds for those there is um if you start a print on demand you can sell stickers you can sell ornaments is one that I saw that you can sell you can sell embroidery oh now which is brand new through print ofi um so the these are just a few little things um okay I'm going to put a pen in that for just a second because I want to read Tammy's comment Tammy says I need passive income so I can actually craft oh put it on a t-shirt put that on a t-shirt because honestly that is our whole thing here is we teaching you how to do the design work and then from there you're never going to you're going to list it and you're never going to touch it again but if you want to you can that gives you time because that will bring we're going to teach you SEO we're going to teach you titles tags all of this stuff in the Etsy um and that's going to free up your time because that's going to bring you passive income so that you can actually craft what you want I would honestly love Tammy if you would get you a little sticky note out and write that exact thing I need passive income so I can craft put it on your bathroom mirror so you can see it every day yes until it comes true because if you all decide to go to this free master class and you're like I want to join this this is like the beginning this is like a whole this is a brand new beginning this is something entirely different than like maker you or our sublimation course this is different you guys okay this is something that could potentially change your life yeah um and I even saw Irene left a comment anybody here with a velcro baby I'm a stay at home mom I do have a velcro baby my sweet baby Georg Lee she is attached to me and I'm doing this I do have a full-time job but I also do that I do the digital files on the side and I have velcro baby so if I can do it you can do it and I I swear I will stand by this till the day I die if somebody else can do it so can you amen I mean I believe that with my whole heart I I think any if you see us doing it you see I mean really I feel that in my belly I know I'm I and my mom taught me that my mom taught me that as a young girl she said if somebody else is doing it you better believe you can do it too and I want you all to believe that in yourself because it's so true like we're real people and we have real lives and things that we do with our kids and we have families and we're able to do this still and that's what we want you all to believe because so yeah so we also have a friend say I bought shadow box files and thought I could make my own files you can that's Honestly though even more involved than what we're going to be teaching you that is way actually that is an actual advanced level skill to be able to create those shadow box files um we're teaching you something that's honestly a little more simpler than that but it's going to bring you just as much if not more money in than a shadow box file would yeah because there that that's the key that's the key not only are we going to teach you how to sell in the digital space but teach you how to sell what people actually want yes exctly because I feel like a lot of times we get hung up on something that we love something that we want to do and listen I'm not saying that shadow boxes are amazing as Crafters we know how much work goes into a shadow box yeah are the masses we're talking people as a whole do they know in general do the masses of people know understand and appreciate the intricacy complexity and everything else of a shadow box no unfortunately not Unfortunately they don't yeah so that's what we're going to show you how to make simple things and honestly y'all are going to be so surprised you'll be so surprised at how simple it is to create these digital files these t-shirt designs whatever it is that you decide it's so easy and you do not have to over complicate it y'all one of our top selling items has three words on it okay sweatshirt three words m one of our top selling items that's it and it's in the same text there's no fancy text there's no nothing I mean Lauren's going to pull up a sweatshirt right now this is an etsy's pick um so all I did let me just show you are we on our share screen let's go to share screen when you typ in Christmas sweatshirt I want you to look at the first two things that come up literally two words on the first one and then one word on the second one and I bet you money this right here is a bestseller yeah I bet you money this right here is a bestseller yep and do you want to know what they did they've probably gone into canva topped out the word Mary put a distress thing on it and an outline which we teach you how to do in the canva course M and they have connected it to a print on demand shop yep and listed it I mean how long's that going to take y'all like five minutes to design that and if I know that's a mockup oh yeah for sure they've taken a mockup image and popped on the file yep and I mean when you see these listings on Etsy y'all they're not like sitting in front of a camera with the sweatshirt on that they purchased like this is just an image of someone they put the design on it just to show you what it would look like and that's it yeah I mean it can be as easy as that it literally can be that easy yeah all it's going to come down to is see it even has DTF blah blah blah blah blah you can see I mean and this is all I'm simple simple Kathy says I over complicate everything welcome to the club as a crafter as a crafter that's the thing is we always over complicate everything but we have to shift our mindset into a more simple way of thinking we think that the more the more the more complicated something is to create the more it's going to sell and the more money we're going to make y'all that is not the case yeah it's truly not you would just be I honestly and I'm the same way I'm like I'm going to spend forever like working on this design like it's going to be so intricate and then I'll post it and like nobody it's like crickets and then I'll post something with three words on it and we sell like 20 so you just honestly never know you don't want to over complicate it and these are things that you all will learn along the way okay I want to address Cara also just said with these new rules around having a product in hand that you are selling our pod businesses are going to be expensive if we have to order samples of every item though you don't have to you do not have to order samples of every single item you sell as long as you know the quality of the shirt that you are listing and the pictures that are in your listing are of that shirt that's all you have have you don't have to have that shirt on hand and I think that if you all go on to YouTube there's lots of like I don't want to call it like fear mongering but lots of people like my Etsy Shop got shut down because of this this X Y and Z and this is why you can't do There Are Rules like and we would never lead you all astray like we know all the rules there there are things that you can and cannot do but that is not something that you need to worry about where we would never never lead you astray no Kathy there is not training on PM P print on demand in DMS um you just need to make sure that you're at the master class you're at the master class for sure so s's been dropping the link a bunch she's also pinned it to the top for you minutes mhm I'm not kidding yeah it's that easy it's that simple let's just go ahead and let me let's just do it let go to our Shen challeng you to that okay challenge we are taking this we can either do Christmas Vibes or we can do marry either one do the merry one do the merry one okay we're going to create I'm going to show you how fast you can do this so create a design we're just going to do custom size we'll do 2,000 by 2,000 pixels actually let's do it a little bit higher let's do 3,000 by 3000 create new design here here we go start a timer on me now it's 15:9 okay Mary actually let's go ahead and capitalize all of it I'm going to change the font let's try to find a varsity I'm going to put a stopwatch and that way we can see actually how long that it takes you yourbook outline and your book solid I want to do both of these are you ready duplicate I'm just going to have yearbook outline yearbook solid now what we're going to do is we're going to change the color what was it like red red in the middle not that red not that red let's do like this red like a cherry red Mary it was a little curve so we're going to go to effects well that's a little too much of a curve we'll back it up we're going to do letter spacing a little bit more out we're going to go back to effects we're going to add an outline if you want to you don't have to actually I don't like that one you don't like that color I don't like that outline I don't think the outline looks good on it but I want to try something what font 369 369 dangel fun I don't think and what kind of curve do we have on this 65 let's actually go to 372 what kind of 178 I don't know that this is going to work and I think I had a what did we say on this one 65 hello I'm just seeing if it will give me it's not it's not what I was trying but anyway so you can if you wanted to add the outline there's some some more things that you would have to do obviously this is not but we'll just go back to effects and we can add an outline and add a green um that's not obviously the green that I want like a Christmas green yeah you could honestly make that white I mean there's a way you could do it you could make it white save it without the background re-upload it at a green outline you following me yep I am are you picking up what I'm putting down are you picking up what I'm putting down download yep transparent background all the way download so this is this is where uh experience comes in when you're going fast but the the kicker is that Lauren is able to easily create I mean this design we we have a lot of experience in canvas so we can do this part f faster yes but you all can do things as simple as putting Mary in a really cute text on like on a sweatshirt as easy as that so there's this so now what we're GNA wow we got lots of stuff going on so now what I'm going to do is I'm going to bring my finder back in um I'm going to have to go to elements and then bring my you should just be able to drag and drop it I would think so but it wasn't it will watch there it is yeah so now we can add this guy back in and now I can add an offset or an outline to my image another one another one down Shadows yeah that's right outline like that you can change your size and now I can add this really cool green to the outline are y'all are y'all seeing this so now I can get rid of this look at this and now all I have to do is come over here to elements because it did have a distress look on it or yeah distress overlays you can type grunge in or like overlays this is one of my favorite things and we actually go over this in our canva course if you if you guys are in our Kima course you probably already know how to distress your images now what I can do is I can kind of crop this down change it to White and now you can see I have a distressed look on my design MH and I mean it's not identical but it's pretty close right and it took me five set 5 minutes are we we're at 4 minutes and 45 seconds so right at 5 minutes to create it now all you would have to do is save it without a background save it without a background and connect it to your Etsy and print on demand shop yeah and so that's just one and obviously like there's we could go in there and like make it perfect and play around with it but that's just to show you like some of the most popular designs are so easy and so easy to recreate now we don't ever want you to just like straight up copy but you do want to like you're going to be using Etsy to find inspiration and things like that and there are lots of other ways to figure out like what sells the best and all of that but you all are just you cannot miss this master class with terer because he's going to go into more detail and it's just going to be really guys yes now we had a friend just asked would you think it's easier to do sublimation on this designer HTV we're actually going to be doing either to sell that shirt o we're doing neither yeah let me show you what we would do though so we'll go back to the share screen we've created this design now we're going to share it we're going to download it with a transparent background um what you're going to see when we download it I can now Zoom back out we're going to add a page I can come over here to elements and I can type in t-shirt H it's not happing oh it's not thank you t-shirt mockup you can pick from any of these um or we can go to photos and you can see that there are actual photos of people wearing a shirt so and canva even has like mockup images that will like morph to the shape of whoever has the mockup on too if you go to all so now what we're doing this guy here we'll put our Mary shirt on him we're going to go back to our finder where we just downloaded that drag and drop it you probably have to remove the background from this image cuz the white distressing is going to be around the Mary you see it now you see me I do see it I do see just background removing it should go away this is why cana pro is where it's at yeah and it may remove that oh yeah and you can go in there and clean up any other little areas you don't want so now all I have to do size this down and I have a t-shirt mockup that I'm ready to put on I mean obviously it's not really centered that's it's pretty sloppy I would definitely show you how to do some other things but I mean just the Simplicity of it the Simplicity of it and the fact that you all are not going to have to be creating this over and over and over again is just so helpful so does anybody have any questions about what we've talked about today I would love to know if you guys have any questions someone's asking what a print on demand shop is that's just a shop where you can send a design and then someone else fulfills the order for you and then it's sent directly to the customer so you skip the part where you're actually having to make the shirt yeah you get to design it you just don't have to physically make it now we did have a friend just say um so we can use those people on canva for mockups in Etsy MH yes you can actually just purchase mockup images in Etsy is another way you can sell digitally if you're a photographer if you have a camera and you're a photographer selling mockup images is a a very very big honestly a more lucrative Market Market than I ever thought yeah more than digital files maybe even or more than print on demand I don't know it's popping mockup images are popping if you're a photographer um there are lots of people for print on demand just make sure that you guys are at that Master Class I can't say it enough um you don't have to have canva Pro for the mockups necessarily there are workarounds for different things um but yeah there are some mockup images in canva that are not canva pro I will say a lot of them are canva pro though yeah um but we're going to teach you just a little not to not to say too much but if you are there on Sunday the 15th or any other day that you can be there um you don't need to worry about the pro mockups the mockups in canva Pro we're going to take care of you on that front I don't know how to say it without saying it we going to help yall out we going we going to have your back just like we've always had your back with other things other Ventures yeah we're going to have your back with this one too yes and you can sell the file or you can sell the shirt you exactly so now if you want wanted to you could sell this file now if I sold this file you would still need to go in there and clean up that distressing a little bit more so that it's not on everything else it's just on the marry portion but yes you can sell the file or you can sell the shirt or both or both if you're feeling frisky I mean if you're going to create the file why not go ahead and list it but also link it to a shirt exactly that's what we're saying this is where the money's at this is where the money's out this is how y'all are going to be able to be paying for your fancy craft courses your craft subscriptions I mean this is where all the fancy crafting you're going to be doing yourself yes cuz you're going to have so much more time to just craft whatever you want rather than trying to craft to make a living that's right so I'm telling you this is where it's at this is and we're not let let us be clear we're not shifting our whole business away from cricket but we are shifting the way that we think about selling our crafts and we are shifting that aspect of our business because the craft business has shifted itself right we just are moving with the flow of everybody we going with the flow of where where it's at so we still adore our die cutting machine we use it all the time yeah we're not going to go away from that but we are going to offer something different for those that do want to make passive income with your creativity right because the potential is there and the money is there to be made
