Hello, Congressman Beyer. So good to see you here at the DNC.
Thank you very much. It's wonderful. It's a very exciting time.
One thing that we've been thinking about a lot is the women's vote. How do you think
that's going to work out for the candidate, for the VP?
Well, first, the fact that she is a woman and has a great chance to be the first woman
president is very powerful. But then also after the Dobbs decision, reversing Roe v.
Wade, we've seen in state after state, including red states, that this is really a major factor
And for Governor Walz, what do you think he needs to accomplish in his speech tonight?
I read today that 4 in 10 Americans still don't know much about him.
And so I think the big thing tonight is he has to tell us his story, who he is,
how he grew up, his wife, his career. And over time, we will learn the Tim Walz
history, but tonight's the big first investment in that.
And how is the Harris-Walz ticket going to bring in the undecided and the independent voters?
Well, and that, of course, is the key for every election,
is persuading the independents, those swing voters. I think a lot of it's going to be
grassroots efforts, lots and lots of knock-down doors, persuading people that their vote counts,
that if you don't vote, you don't count, that you have to show up. But then there
are going to be barnstorming, especially the seven battleground states. They'll be very visible.
