Palenco, a neighborhood in Mexico City that seemingly has it all.
Incredible restaurants, gorgeous parks, some of the best museums, plenty of shopping.
Palenco is known for being an upscale neighborhood. This is where the elite of CDMX come to live,
shop, and hang out. But there's more to it. Aside from being upscale, there was also
street food, pizza, sushi, things for the kids to do, and churros. Palenco ended up being
approachable. It felt very welcoming, safe, and super family-friendly. We're here in Palenco now.
This place looks pretty upscale, just like what we were expecting. We're in Plaza de Uruguay,
which is one of their main green spaces. Beautiful, like a lot of the parks here in Mexico.
We're gonna go explore, grab some more food, and show you around. He's trying. Actually,
I love it. He has started to ask for some of his own things, try to talk to taxi drivers.
Yeah, it's great. A few more months. It's a great travel with somebody who knows Spanish, but we found
the whole time in Mexico, we've been able to get by with very basic Spanish. Right after this, I test
out my so-called Spanish that I've learned, and Ali and the fruit guy have a nice laugh about it.
Fernando.
You can still get street food here in Palenco. This is beautiful. We watched him chop it up,
and it costs 50 pesos. Okay, Palenco. Wow. Feeling a little out of place here. Yeah, we need our
I'll have to get some b-roll to try to capture all this goodness happening here, but definitely
like a Beverly Hills area. Yeah. Definitely like an upscale area. That's why people want to see
Palenco, want to see videos on it. It feels swanky. This place is unreal. It's cafes after cafes.
Feels like you're in Italy. Beautiful, pristine, gorgeous. Feels very safe, and I've also heard
actually a lot more people speaking English here than I've heard in all of our four months
in Mexico. Just got done with our sushi, and now we're having pizza. Not a very Mexican experience
that we're bringing in, but we get that. We've just had a lot of torta and tacos. We may be all
pastor over the past four months. I saw a homemade sourdough pizzeria. Couldn't pass it up.
In Mexico, like, you don't need to get good at pizza. Like, you're amazing at tacos, but
sourdough? Could be better than anything we have at home. This could rival some of our best spots
at home. Tebiana's at the spot behind me. I actually just talked to the owner, Lucy,
and she just opened once ago. Because of the pandemic, all her other restaurants shut down,
and she just reopened this one to start fresh and new, and it is amazing. When you're in Palenco,
do yourself a favor. Get margarita here at Tebiana's. Palenco's got a strong bakery game.
Bread in Mexico. Come to Palenco. Hey! Is that a rhyme? Yeah, the bread looks great. I'm sure it
is good. That sourdough pizza, man, rivals what we have at home. That was great. We're in Parque
Lincoln here. We just walked up, and we see that they're renting these little boats,
remote control boats, to put in the water. So we got a boat with the kids. See how they like it.
20, 25 years since you're out here with this family. What's your name? Miguel. Miguel. So cool.
We're in Parque Lincoln? Yes. And you can come rent these boats, and what a great, I mean,
what a great family business, right? Yes. Yes, it's a family business. Very nice. Oh, thank you,
Miguel. Yes, no problem. So what we heard of Palenco before coming here was, it is like the
of Palenco, like Beverly Hills, Scottsdale, swanky. And it was swanky. Definitely swanky. But it was
beyond expectations of swanky. Swanky not in a bad way, just like, it's a wealthy area. That's
what it's supposed to be. I'm not, you know, hating on it. I'm just saying, it was like wealthier and
nicer, and more cafes. Yeah, yeah. We haven't seen any place that is like this here in Mexico
at all. So that's probably what we just mean, is that it was higher than even we thought it
could be, because we just haven't even seen anything that compares to here. It is just really
upscale. It's done really well. The parks are beautiful. The restaurants were really nice.
Ambience was great in almost every single one. Prices were expensive, not what we've been used
to, but what we expected by reading about this place. Totally. So if you are, if you're that type,
you know, like, hey, I went in the Lululemon. Hey, true, true, true, true, true. Some people like to
go on vacation, spend money, be pampered, go to the best of the best, and then, hey, maybe you take a
little trip into Mexico City and see some sights. If that's the way you like it, then Palenco is
probably going to be a good spot. Yeah, you'll love it. If you want to get nitty-gritty, you want to get
some culture, you want to get some street food, then this might not be the spot. No, but it was great.
An easy Uber over here to spend a few hours. It kind of felt like a treat. A treat for us. We've been
on the road for several months, many months, so it felt nice. It was really nice to walk around, be
with the kids. Parks are amazing, and there's one more famous churro spot. We're going to go there
to end it. El Moro Churros is not your street cart churro experience. The original was actually
opened in 1935. They have since opened up a few other locations. This is not the original one,
but they are often rated as the best churros in Mexico City. We're going to end it here. El Moro
Churros since 1935. We had to walk away from the store because there's just so much
amazingness of cafes and beautiful people walking around drinking their cocktails. So
we're over here behind another cafe. One's better than the next for this delicious treat.
It was just a little heavy on the sugar. They're warm. There's nothing like a good one churro, right?
