If consciousness is all there is, is it true that even negative thoughts, such as the thought ‘I am sad’, are made of consciousness? What does it mean when we say we are identified with thought? And who is it that becomes identified with thought?

Rupert explains that awareness is that which is aware of the thought, it is that in which the thought arises and it is that out of which the thought is made. When we say we have become identified with thought it is not that awareness has identified itself with a thought — it is already one with the thought — it's that awareness seems as a result to acquire the qualities of that thought and become limited by it.

When you say ‘I am sad’ you're saying ‘I, consciousness, am the form that I have assumed’.But although consciousness is the substance of the feeling of sadness it is not limited to or defined by that thought or emotion.
