Hey, credit warriors, welcome to the show.
And in this video, I want to take you through some of the best credit card welcome bonuses
and other types of bonuses available to you in July 2024.
On this channel, we are all about trying to get you the best value
and to get the banks to pay you rather than the other way around.
If you like the sound of that, please subscribe.
Oh, and this video is brought to you by Kudos for more on that later.
So let's get into it.
If you don't know, a credit card welcome bonus is when a card will offer a new customer
a certain number of points or cashback for spending a certain amount of money
in a set period of time, say the first three months of card membership.
So let's say it could be 50,000 points for spending $4,000 in three months.
And those 50,000 points might be worth like, I don't know, $500 or something.
And no, you are not giving the bank that $4,000.
That is just the spending that you do on the card anyway at stores that you want to shop at.
So here is our first bonus.
And this has been rumored to be coming for a long time.
So it is awesome that is finally here.
And that is the new bonus on the Chase Inc preferred card.
This business credit card is currently offering 120,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for
spending $8,000 in three months.
Now, the points guy currently values Chase points at 2.05 cents apiece.
I don't know why it's that high.
It's definitely gone up a little bit recently.
But if that's the value, then the bonus is worth $2,460.
To get that high of a value for it, though, you would need to transfer the points out to
Chase's airline or hotel transfer partners and book high end travel redemptions like
business class or five star hotels.
But if you just did basic travel redemptions through the travel portal on the Inc preferred
card, where the points have a fixed value of 1.25 cents per point, that's still going
to be $1,500 in value.
And if you also have the Sapphire Reserve, another very popular Chase card, the points
on that card are worth 1.5 cents each through the travel portal.
So you could transfer the points from the Inc preferred over to the Sapphire Reserve
and then redeem through the travel portal from the Sapphire Reserve.
And those points would then be worth $1,800 in free travel.
So there are a few different options.
Now, I personally do have this card.
I've had it for many years.
I think I got 100,000 point bonus when I got it.
And I did transfer the points to the Sapphire Reserve for the higher value and then redeem
them through the travel portal for five nights at the Regent Taipei, which is a five star
hotel in Taiwan with a secret Amex black card members only lounge in the basement.
So anyway, if you're interested in the 120,000 points offer, it is available right now.
It is a limited time offer and there is no public end date.
If you want to learn more about it, I will put a link to the card down in the description
below.
All right, let's now move on to the three IHG hotel cards that all have elevated offers.
The IHG One Rewards Traveler card.
So this card and the others that we are going to talk about are for the IHG hotel chain.
And actually that hotel, the Regent Taipei that I talked about just a moment ago is part
of the IHG chain.
But also the most famous IHG hotel brand would be the Intercontinental, which is their flagship
brand.
I recently stayed at both Intercontinental hotels in Washington, D.C.
I had a great time.
I did a video comparing them as well.
So I'll put that on the end card of this video if you guys want to check it out.
Now, the IHG Traveler card is the basic no annual fee card in this series.
It would be a great starter card for someone who hasn't had a hotel credit card before
and wants to get started in earning some points and then redeeming for free nights.
The bonus is 100,000 IHG points for spending $2,000 in three months.
Now, the Point Sky values IHG points at half a cent apiece.
Some people might have different opinions, but I think his valuations are pretty accurate.
So I'm going to use them.
That means the bonus is worth $500.
And IHG themselves say that it'll get you up to two nights for that.
But that's not correct, actually.
I don't know why they wrote that there.
Maybe that's text from a previous bonus that they haven't changed.
Because IHG's cheapest redemption is 10,000 points.
And that is actually hard to find.
But I did find 20,000 and even 19,000 on a quick search of Washington, D.C. area.
So in theory, you could stay five nights at Holiday Inn or similar IHG hotels.
In case you're wondering, 10,000 to 30,000 is like their budget level hotel.
30,000 to 50,000 would be mid-range.
And then 50,000 to 70,000 is luxury.
And above 70,000 are basically their top tier properties, like the Willard
that I recently stayed at in D.C., which cost 84,000 points per night
on the particular night that I went.
All right, let's now talk about the next IHG card.
And this is the one that a lot of people are excited about.

All right, let's now talk about the IHG OneRewards Premier Card.
Now, this is the mid-range hotel card from IHG issued by Chase.
The card has a $99 annual fee
and currently has a limited time bonus of five free nights,
So if you max them all out, that is the equivalent of 300,000 points.
And remember, 60,000 does get you into IHG's luxury range.
So you could stay, for example, at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in DC
for 53,000 points, which falls within what a 60,000 certificate covers.
You could also stay at the Intercontinental The Wharf in DC,
where I stayed, for 50,000 points.
And if you really push the certificate to the max,
you can stay at the Intercontinental in Times Square, New York for 56,000 points.
Now, this card also gives you a 40,000 points level
free night certificate every year after your anniversary.
That free night can be topped up with points
if you want to use it at a higher tier hotel.
Data points from previous bonuses that included free nights
indicate that these 60,000 point free night certificates
that you get with the bonus cannot be topped up.
If that is the case, it's going to be hard to get exactly 60,000 points
for each of them and really rinse the maximum value out of them.
So I'm guessing that most people will use them at hotels
that cost between 50,000 and 60,000
and thus get somewhere between 250,000 and 300,000 points out of this bonus,
which, to be honest, still isn't bad, OK?
Let's say you manage to get 250,000 points in value out of it.
That's still $1,250 in value if you take the points at 0.5 cents per point.
I will put a link to this card in the description
if you're interested to learn more about it.
Remember, this one is a limited time offer.
All right, now let's move on to the final card in this series.
And let's hold it right there.
I was going to talk about this 200,000 point bonus on the IHG business card.
However, the link for this one has expired.
It seems it isn't available anymore.
It's one of those direct links and, you know, IHG has cancelled the link.
So it's not available anymore.
However, Capital One just came out with a brand new bonus
on the Capital One Venture card, OK?
Not the Venture X, but the Venture, the mid-tier travel card.
So let's talk about that one instead, all right?
Now, what this is is the regular bonus of 75,000 points
for spending $4,000 in the first three months,
plus an additional $250 travel credit
that can be used to pay for travel through the Capital One travel portal.
So if you were to value the points at one cent per point,
you got 750 plus 250 is $1,000 in value.
Or if you were to use a points guy valuation of 1.85 cents
that he gives for Capital One points,
which takes into account transferring to partners,
that is going to be $1,387.50 in value for the points,
plus that 250 credit, that's going to take you up to $1,637.50 in value.
Now, the Venture card, of course, is a mid-tier travel card.
It does have a $95 annual fee,
but it earns two points per dollar on everything.
I think it does have a couple of other bonus categories,
but on all spend, it's two points per dollar.
So it's a great catch-all card for non-category spend.
And it's also a great alternative to the Venture X,
which is a more expensive card.
It's a $400 or $395 annual fee.
But basically with the Venture X,
you're paying for all the travel stuff,
like the airport lounge access, et cetera.
So if you don't want that,
you might be better off with the Venture.
It gets a lot of the same benefits without the lounge access.
So it's a lower annual fee.
And it's a great time to get it
because it's currently got an awesome bonus.
Now, it is listed on the top travel credit cards page
on our partner website, creditcards.com.
So I will put a link below to that as well.
All right, before we finish,
I want to tell you about a couple more elevated offers
for current card members on certain cards.
So first we have the Discover It card.
So on the Discover It cashback card,
which is a great card for people
new to the credit card game,
there is a targeted bonus for restaurant spending.
If you are targeted,
you will receive an email with an activation button.
This one is from a previous time
that this deal was sent out in 2022.
But basically what it is,
it's an extra 6% back at restaurants
on $1,250 in spending,
which works out at an extra $75 back.
So if you are a Discover It card holder,
do check your email for that deal.
And that is where I'm going to leave it today, guys.
Thank you for watching.
