I have to say the bread tastes very good. The fried onion and steak, it tastes very amazing.
So this is the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. This is the replicates of Champs-Élysées in Paris.
Hi, I'm Aaron. I'm originally from Taiwan and I've been living in the suburb of Philadelphia
for about four years. I'm going to show you my city, Philadelphia. Let's go!
Philadelphia is the first capital in the United States. In ancient Greek, it means the city of
brotherly love. Philadelphia's architecture is strongly influenced by French. Benjamin Franklin
Parkway is a replicates of Champs-Élysées in Paris. Jacques Gréber, a French architect,
designed the Parkway in 1917 to emulate the Champs-Élysées in Paris, France. Gréber
envisioned it as Logan Circle, a large traffic circle that would emulate the Place de la Concorde
in Paris. If you like the video, please give me a like and considering subscribing my channel.
Thank you! Gréber also proposed two buildings near Logan Square in his plan, the Free Library
and Municipal Court, suggesting the Hôtel de Crayon and the Hôtel de la Mahin
of the Place de la Concorde in Paris.
William Penn, the founder of Philadelphia, planned five open space parks throughout the city.
Rittenhouse Square is one of the five original open space parks. In 1913, French architect
Paul-Philippe Crette redesigned parts of the square to resemble Paris and the French gardens,
adding classical entryways and stone additions to railings, pools, and fountains.
When you visit Philadelphia, the first thing you should see is Independence Hall. When you see a
hundred dollar bill, you will see Independence Hall. The constitution was written and signed
here. On the way to Independence Hall, you will see a religious liberty statue in front of the
National Museum of American Jewish History. It reminds people that everyone has their freedom
to practice their belief in this country. You will see a group of people practicing
a spiritual preservation called Falun Dafa in front of the liberty bill. It's a practice based
on truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. Millions of people around the world benefit
from practicing it, but it has been under persecution by the Chinese Communist Party
in China for more than 20 years. I feel it demonstrates the spirit of liberty
when they are practicing their belief in front of the liberty bill.
The exercise is very smooth, gentle, and relaxing. I brought my friend to visit
with the liberty bill, and we have to go through a security check.
Because this, every, every since, anytime people feel they don't enjoy
life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, liberty, justice, equality, here's a tangible link
to an abstract idea that can still move you. So even though this bill is cracked and silent,
its purpose was to call the people to come here to hear announcements, and it is still working,
because you're here. And there's a beautiful garden behind the Independence Hall.
Benjamin Franklin's burial place is also not far away from the liberty bill.
We passed by the arch of the Chinatown, and after a few blocks, we got to the Raiding Terminal.
Raiding Terminal was a train station, but later became a public market.
Here you can find all kinds of food. The most famous one is the cheesesteak.
There was a short line for the cheesesteak.
After paying for the order, there's another line to pick up the cheesesteak.
Cheesesteak is a sandwich made from thinly sliced pieces of beef steak
and melted cheese in a long hockey rope. It's a popular regional fast food from Philadelphia.
After getting the food, the challenge now is to find a place to sit.
And this is the cheesesteak I got. I have to say the bread tastes very good.
The fried onion and steak, it tastes very amazing.
After visiting Raiding Terminal, we came to the City Hall. Philadelphia City Hall is the seat
of the municipal government of the city of Philadelphia. This building is also a courthouse.
Built using brick, white marble, and limestone, Philadelphia City Hall is the world's largest
freestanding masonry building and was the world's tallest building upon its completion in 1894.
The City Hall was built in Ornette's Second Empire style, also known as the Napoleon III style.
It is a highly eclectic style of architecture and art originating in the Second French Empire.
It has a beautiful courtyard surrounded by the building.
The building is topped by a 37-feet bronze statue weighing more than 53,000 pounds of
city founder William Penn. The statue is the tallest atop any building in the world.
Philadelphia is a vibrant city, rich in history and beautiful architecture. It is the birthplace
of the United States, where everyone has the freedom to practice their spiritual beliefs.
Philadelphia is also known for its delicious food. You can have everything you want here.
I hope you enjoyed the video and hope you have a good time visiting Philadelphia. And if you
