It's so iconic. Hey it's Phoebe and today I'm in London. All right I actually used to live in
London and it's been about nine or ten years since I was here and in this episode I'm reuniting and
staying with one of my very best friends Katie. Now Katie is a bonafide London local and a foodie
and she has planned these next few days for us. So we are going to be visiting some of the very
best food spots in the city and discovering a few must-visit places too while checking
out a couple of viral Instagram TikTok famous food spots to see if they're worth it. Let's go!
All right so we are starting our day at the Sky Garden. Now it is located on the top floor of the
Torquay building here in the middle of London and the views are unreal. It is like 360 degree
panoramic views over the city and just such a good starting point. Now to get in here we decided we
want to come in early because it is free after 10 but that means everybody else is here free after
10. So we decided to pay the £9 which gets you early entry, a coffee and a pastry. So we're going
to start with breakfast up here and I think that is just the perfect beginning to my London
adventure. Five, four, three, two, one, yeah we ready right now. Got me feeling so free, free,
got me feeling so free. All right that pastry was really, really good. The pan de chocolat,
yes and they have a vegan option too. The coffee, not, look at the, look at Katie's face. Wait,
pull the face again. She just had a sip and went oh. That's the appropriate face. The coffee,
not great. So I would give the coffee a miss. I don't know maybe for the beans. I'm not sure.
I would give the coffee a miss but the pastry, yes and maybe a cup of tea is the better option.
All right we are walking through Leadenhall Market. It is so beautiful in here. So they
have some boutique shops. It's a really cool eateries and the thing that really caught
our eye slash Katie's eye is, I'm gonna butcher this, I'm sorry France,
oh merveilleux. Maybe I should try and commit to that more. Oh merveilleux.
Anyway they do these beautiful little cakes. If you're gluten free, the cakes are gluten free.
We've got some to take home but I had to get one to try right now even though we're about to eat an
obscene amount of food today. So it looks, it's very light, let me tell you that much. We got
the chocolate and the cherry. It's a very like light base. I would say that could even be a
meringue base and then I'm hoping that's just like cream and cakey goodness in the middle. So let's
dig in and give that a try. Oh okay. There's something so like physically light.
It's incredibly flavoursome and incredibly rich but in all the right ways. That is really good.
It is time for lunch and Katie has brought us to the old Spitalfields market which is amazing.
It just has everything. I mean for starters it's undercover. So on a drizzly or a really rainy day,
perfect. Not only that, they have a great market set up which we're gonna check out after we eat
which brings me to the good bit, eating. So you basically have to wander around because there are
lots of little stalls set up everywhere. I'm super hungry. If you came here super super super hungry
with like a big crew of people, you could just order a whole bunch of stuff to try and share.
Katie and I have gone straight Italian carbs and we're gonna be having dessert because we're
animals and why not really. So I saw the pasta and I was like yes. So they had pasta that was
vegetarian, vegan and meat friendly. I went for the just a straight up veggie with some
chili flakes on it. It looks unreal. Oh my gosh it's been so long since I had pasta.
That is really good. Yum. And they take cards and cash I believe. So cards seem to be the thing.
Don't worry about taking money out, exchanging currency. That's spicy.
Katie said this is TikTok viral. So this is a five pound pizza and they cook it fresh. The guys
like make it. It's wood fired in their van. It smells amazing. Yeah five pounds and it's like
they said smaller and they fold it up and yeah Katie showed me the viral videos about it and
it looks amazing. Do you think I just bite like straight into it? Okay this is hot.
It's really gonna burn. Oh my god. That's really good. If you're only choosing one, the pizza.
Oh my god. All right get into it. You know we had to have dessert. So we were walking past
and Katie said oh my god it's humble crumble. I was like what is humble crumble? And now I know.
They sell crumble. So you can go in there. They have like pre-selected ones. They have vegan
options. All this kind of stuff. Or you can build your own. So we built our own so we could try
different flavors. I got apple and cinnamon fruit base with granola and toasted marshmallow on top.
And Katie got, what base did you get? Apple. She got half half. Apple, cinnamon, nectar and cherry
with a vegan custard and then nuts on top. Now I'll be honest with you. I've already
gotten into it. It's so good. I do wish I got custard as well as
toasted marshmallow because I feel like it's slightly too dry. But that's my problem.
It's really good. All right just stick that spoon straight in there. That's how you know
you're really friends. This looks so beautiful. Oh you got shortbread as well. Oh my god. Okay
it's really messy though. Yours is better. Yeah let me get a second dip of that.
I recommend that. The shortbread with the custard. That's the move.
Once again round London we are using the tube. It's super easy to navigate and you can use
google maps to help you find your route if you need it. Now I have an oyster card which I've
topped up with credit for easy tap on tap off. But you can also tap with your credit card or apple
pay if you like or just buy individual tickets. But I do recommend using a tap method if you're
catching a lot of trains because it just makes life easier. Now it's really important that you're
aware of pickpockets on the tube. It's never happened to me but a friend of mine did get her
wallet taken. So just be aware of your surroundings and keep your bags closed.
All right our next stop is here. Can you hear that sound? I had been waiting for that sound to
stop to start filming and the second I started talking that sound starts again. I'll just carry
on. Keep calm and carry on. All right so our next stop is here at Covent Garden and we were both
just saying that this is our favorite. Just one of our favorite parts of London. It's so beautiful.
There are so many great little laneways and streets you can explore. So many shops and really
cool shops that are dedicated to brands you probably know and love. Like there's a whole
shop dedicated to The Ordinary. A whole shop dedicated to Charlotte Tilbury. Lots of high-end
brands. Lots and lots of food to try. We are just eating our way through London on this adventure.
But it's also really colorful in here and so so beautiful. So I definitely recommend
adding this to your list and just coming here walking around and exploring for an hour or two.
We're out of control. I told you we were eating our way through London and I meant it. So we've
come to the 7th Dials Market. That's here in Covent Garden still right? We just walked here.
Really cool food market. Come here hungry and then it's all undercover so if it's a rainy day
perfect. We went straight to the ice cream shop because we're both just going for it today.
And I got this berry ice cream. It's got cookie crumbs and soft serve and meringue and it's
starting to rain and it just looks so good. Oh my god. Okay I love soft serve and that is really
really good. But wait. I thought I was obnoxious and then Katie ordered a drink.
I'm walking around the street wearing pink shoes, pink pants, pink phone, pink watch
and now we've got the pinkity drinkity on top. All right let's try some of the um the
I'm gonna have a tummy ache. Should we try though? Stir it up. It's really good. It's really good.
Oh my god. This is the happiest day of my life. This is one of those days where you go out
and you order all the food and you eat everything and you just don't worry about it. Heaven.
Catching that ride on the way. Rain may come but I say. Bring it on. I don't gotta worry. Not at all.
Washing out the gray. With all the good vibes. Good vibes. Five, four, three, two, one. Yeah we ready right now.
Got me feeling so free. Free.
Got me feeling so free. Good morning you guys. I'm so happy. My energy this morning is a 10 out of 10.
So yesterday when Katie and I were out I was like you know where I really wanted to go but didn't
get to. Look how cute that dog is. Oh my god. Bring your dog here. All right so I said to Katie you
know where I really want to go but I just don't think I'm gonna get time. Peggy Portia. You've
probably seen it on Instagram. It's all pink and florals and cakes and Katie was like babe
let's just go tomorrow. It's tomorrow and we're at Peggy Portia and for me this is like
this is just a dream come true you know to see something on Instagram and go oh maybe one day
I'll get to go there and try the cake and have coffee and it's so beautiful and then today to
actually be here. Oh my gosh we've just taken so many photos and we didn't have breakfast so we've
just gone hard out on the cakes. Katie was like what are we ordering? I was like full full cake.
Full Marie Antoinette vibes. Cake, cake, cake. So we've got some cupcakes and they have specials
and they're so beautiful and we've also got a lemon drizzle cake. I wanted a pink drink. I
ordered a beetroot latte. It's not so much pink as it is a strange brown color. So if you want a
really pink girly drink they do like a rose latte and that's that's what I would recommend you get
but the coffee is actually really good you know like sometimes with places like this
it's more the gimmick of the visual but the food doesn't follow through. I'm telling you right now
the coffee is epic right? Yeah. Katie is serious about her coffee too and this is the lemon drizzle
cake. If I'm honest I've already eaten half of it. It's so good. But I haven't tried one of the
cupcakes yet. I can't remember what flavor this is. It looks like I actually think it says some
berry special. We got all blueberries and stuff in there. Oh my god. Welcome to the happiest day
of my entire existence. That is an obscene amount of cake. It's laughing at me. Oh that's really
good. It's surprisingly not too sweet. You would think it would just be sickly but it's not. And
this one is strawberries and cream. Oh my god. Eight-year-old me is just screaming right now
cheering me on. Oh look at it. Look at it. Okay. Oh my god. Look it's all gooey inside.
It's a river of strawberry oozing out of it. I absolutely recommend coming here.
I absolutely recommend it. 10 out of 10. Would take your Porsche again.
I am having the best day of my life. I'm so happy today. Katie and I are having so much fun
that you won't see Katie on camera a lot. She's not she's not in front of the camera
gal. She's behind the camera gal. I'll sneak her in now for you.
But we're just having so much fun. I think like when you go somewhere like Peggy Portion this
morning and you just have that girl time. It's like nourishing that little girl inside of you
and taking care of that inner child right. And then we've just been laughing and walking around
having so much fun and we both love the creative side of this. Like taking photos and like getting
the tourist shots and then having a lot of fun with it and like getting other photos and stuff
and I don't know. Today has just been awesome. Um yeah where are we going next? Borough Market.
Oh my gosh. I told you we were eating our way through London and I meant it. There is actually
some viral food. Viral food makes it sound like there's something wrong with it. But there is
some food I saw on Instagram that I really really want to eat. So let's go do that.
All right we are at the Borough Market and if you are researching things to do in London,
you get on Google, you get on YouTube, whatever. This will absolutely pop up and there's a good
chance you might have seen this. This is the viral dessert I was telling you about.
Super simple. It's fresh strawberries and they have like chocolate fountains and they just pour
the chocolate in. It's about £7.50 or something. So it's not cheap but it's actually really good
and they move the line really quick as well. You don't need cash. You can just pay with your card,
tap. They get you in, they get you out. Now I will say this. What day is it? Tuesday?
It's busy. I'll give you a start eating babe. It is really really busy. I don't love crowds and it
is packed. You are chocked in like sardines. So that means there are a lot of queues for a lot
of the food stalls, especially the really popular ones. So I would just say if you don't love queues,
if you don't want to wait, if you don't want all of that, this isn't your spot. The spots we went
to yesterday are going to be more your vibe. They're a little bit more low-key. But if you
don't mind, you want to mix it, you want to get in there. Is that good? You want to come to the
and what we did was we got our stuff and then we kind of walked out a little bit and we came here
where it's a little bit more quiet and that looks like it's paying off dividends. No, we've just
made a shocking discovery. This, oh it does too. When they pour it, the chocolate is obviously
melted and it's immediately, I don't know if you can see, it's immediately setting and going rock
hard. You kind of want it to stay melted so it's all drippy and gooey and you can get it on there
but oh delicious but that it's still delicious but eat it quick whoa there are a lot of queues
it's difficult to find somewhere isn't it like you're walking around and all the lines look
so long sometimes you can't even tell where the line starts and ends and you don't really
want to stand and wait that long for your food you just want to eat um so i would recommend
i don't even know how you'd avoid the queues first thing when it opens maybe get here early but
the summer like this it's crazy all right let me see if i can set you up on this table
it's just filming me don't worry how's that there we go so we found like a little back alley
with some tables um and we ordered some food so katie went and sussed out some
are these gyoza vegan gyoza they look really good they were really hot before i went to try it but
we've decided to let it cool down a little they are really good and you know me you know i love
mexican food so i got three cauliflower tacos from padre do you remember where the gyoza were from
jolly the gyoza and then for the tacos it was three tacos of the same kind for like
£9.50 or something and i went with cauliflower ones they look really spicy which is great news
bad news for katie who doesn't like spicy food but i love cauliflower so let's give these a try
they're not as spicy as they look oh not the best tacos i've ever had but
the wrap is corn-based so it'll be gluten-free really good flavor in there and the cauliflower
is really yummy i think i just wish it had something creamy on there like
some guacamole or something like that or like a i don't know something creamy
but they are really flavorful all right we have eaten so much food over the last couple of days
but we're gonna eat more food katie was like we have to try the donuts um i think you've been
cyber stalking the market is that right and she'd seen that bread ahead donuts were like a must try
so she bought two a salted caramel and an eaten mess i'm not sure how much food i can fit in but
oh my god i think maybe i'll try the eaten mess don't pause the video there's sugar all over my
face oh i actually could eat the whole thing that's really good that's really good actually
this is my favorite thing we've had here better than the chocolate strawberries better than the
tacos and better than the gyoza that thing is the donuts are unreal oh i have had the best
two days and it is all thanks to this woman right here you can't see her i can see her i met katie
when i was here nine or ten years ago and we just clicked and to come back again after so long
and just kind of pick up where you left off it has been amazing and to come back to somewhere
you've lived as a tourist is really cool as well i cannot believe how much we've been able to pack
into the last few days and how much food we've managed to pack in i mean we've eaten everything
we hit all the hot spots so hopefully you have a whole lot of inspiration for your visit and you
too can come here and just eat your way through this amazing city and you even get to see a little
bit of sunshine which is crazy and with that that brings this week's episode to a close i really
