hey
[Music]
hey hello greates wildli control oh yes
yes about the raccoons mhm yeah so we
just want to know have you seen the hole
right here yeah okay so are you hearing
them on this level or is it up top um
that level this level here yeah okay so
the birs birs sounds okay that's
probably the baby raccoons they you hear
that she do you hear that here yeah that
corner inside the house or in this part
that corner um inside the house we're at
a house where it's a little bit
different when you go into where the
raccoons are it's a tall ceiling and
then um there's a wall space so we're
hoping that we can get through the attic
we'll show you once we're inside but
we're hoping once we get in the Attic we
can actually get across to the area
where there's seeing them I'll point to
it when we or Sor where they're hearing
them I'll point to it when we get in
there so you can see what I mean and
they're hearing them in the wall so
that's why I'm hoping I can crawl over
and hopefully grab reach down the wall
and grab the babies oh sorry I thought I
saw something up there um once we're in
there we'll see if we even can if not we
will have to cut a hole in the wall
because that's where the mom and babies
are we'll set everything up just in case
she comes out while we're doing this but
right now we will grab our equipment and
head inside and take that first step to
see if we can see the mom and babies
inside so we got our ladder let get the
baby bag and the
Grabbers okay
[Music]
put on my mask we're setting up a camera
on the outside so we can know if she
came out while we're in there cuz
sometimes they do and you wouldn't know
unless you wouldn't know for sure unless
you had a camera set up and then we'll
know if she's going to come back for a
crying baby if she's inside or if she's
outside
already ready to come in the landlord
approved the work okay what what are we
going to do here we're start in the
Attic the attic so we know from the
sound that the mother recing babies is
in this wall the flat wall on this side
of the house the attic entry hole is way
over on the other side of the house so
we have to uh hopefully get from there
to here to be able to access the babies
we'll go see if we can do thej just
that there we
go oh it's right at the side of the hose
we got a long way to go to get to where
she is and see here we have okay very
narrow
passage it opens up into the other attic
over there so we're
hoping this will lead to where she is
we'll find out soon somebody has to go
between these
beams and climb way over there so we got
to get through this
Gap how am I going to get back you will
no I don't know yes you will I you holy
moly that was crazy that is such a hard
drop that
is never done something I know that's
crazy I actually don't know how I'm
going to get
back I
got okay wait you're going to do it
no that add a catch right
there great back down a level
it I'll go to the easier out ofat to
come in now we got to climb back
up I think I kind of want to kind of
like do a dip you can see this is where
she's coming in
look that's where that entry that oh
yeah and she's moved all the
insulation we got to do a tricep dip
right now that's why we go to the gym
see how strong you are careful
is this going to be it I hope
so okay I'm just going to clim here so
that Spencer can get
up oh yeah by the way this is
Spencer first introduction
siblings I hear movement okay oh there's
mom go
mom
go stay there Mom
go she just ran out see if she goes that
way
I'll she's coming your
way you see her no not yet she's above
you oh yep I see her oh w real close mom
go out okay wait wait wait don't scare
her too much I'll back up a mom don't go
that way go your normal way okay wait
let's just let's just give her a
second you see her yeah I think I I was
kind of in her
way Mom okay she can technically stay
there but I just didn't want her to grab
a baby so I want to make sure she got
out of the way her entry hole is right
there so I think the only reason she
didn't drop down is cuz you were there
yeah maybe so if you come up I think
yeah she might have room to go down yeah
but then
okay okay so we're just leaving her
there she might head that
way yeah she's heading that way which is
good doesn't have to go
out okay so now that mom's out of the
way which is perfect we come over
here keep an eye for her but they would
be you can see she's torn at
this
and which one was she in this
one there's the babies they're a bit
deep which is not ideal
there they
are
sleeping I'm hoping we can get the
Grabbers that deep or we're going to
need in yellow pool
yep
so let me just try to see if I can get
Grabbers down there if not we're going
to need some more tools
yeah so A lot's happened yeah no mom
went to where we were before up there
the old spot because she ran through she
was too scared to go out and went that
way like where we were before up there I
can see the babies I'm trying to reach
them now okay to literally go to
shoulder deep with the Grabbers to reach
them which is pretty deep but I think I
can reach
them and I just got to go like this yeah
I'm at the bottom you don't push too
hard the ins go
down I think I'm going to take this off
my head so I can
see better they got one he's coming
up we got you
baby number
one eyes are still closed mom's over
there and we're so lucky to be able to
have reached them otherwise we would
have had to cut a hole in the the wall
hi are you sleepy your tongue's sticking
out a lot of them have been sticking
their tongue out but it's probably cuz
they just got fed and they're just so
content so we're going to place baby
number one inside the bag and reach for
a
second yeah you see we're reaching very
deep oh there he moved a
bit going to have
to come on I'm helping you up it's a
little
ride I got number two
baby's crying that's
okay A little elevator ride all the way
up you're going to be giv back to
Mom it's okay another
tongue everybody got a tongue a little
tongue
guys we still
don't hear mom so she's okay over there
and there's one more little
guy I'll put
him in the bag and
we reach down for number
three there's a perfect little play pen
for them see how he's he's moving a bit
cuz he's like where did everyone go and
he can't go anywhere way this way that
way or front to back they're just in
this little
space so let's grab him before Mom here
with
him think I got him yep we got
you number
three they all got their tongues
out it's okay
sweetie so three baby
raccoons in that space that tongue's
really it's so cute when their tongues
are out like curling his tongue I think
it's when they're nursing she might have
been nursing
recently so what we can do is take them
out we have a different way to get out
now so we don't have to go back that
same way which was very tough and that
is where mama is now so that would be a
tough little space if we had to go back
that
way we'll place them in the bag and
we'll see if we can get Mom to come out
with one of them crying maybe but she
was pretty scared of us and I get it
we're coming into her
space so three
babies in the bag there's no more which
we can say 100% And we will head back
out
[Music]
so she was scared of me and she started
running down the side here as I got
further in and her entry hole is right
down there so I thought hopefully she'd
drop down but I think she saw Spencer so
she didn't go down and Spencer couldn't
see her I said do you see her and he
goes nope and she's running right here
and he was standing where you were so I
had no clue how he didn't see her but
she ran up this plywood here got to the
very top cuz she was scared and then she
looped into where we originally were
that I we were hoping you did otherwise
she would have been able to get in the
house I can see her entry hole so maybe
she'll come
out oh it's crazy in in one of the more
difficult locations to
get but I'm glad it wasn't uh that deep
to get the babies any further and I
probably wouldn't have reached I was
completely up to my shoulder to get them
I couldn't see her because I was I was
staring down this way to where she was
going to go out of the
house you'll see on the camera I was
looking the wrong
way really is like a jungle gym in here
it's
crazy oh I'm glad we can go out the back
door
to get to that but a really cool
shot we're coming
down yeah we're good we have the babies
it's all connected we can get to the
both from where they are the baby is in
the back yep how many there's three
three I can show you when we're upside
yeah they're all in the back they are
yeah wow and is the mother there yep
she's up there too we saw her she ran
past
us so she she's still in there she's
still in there yeah so what we're going
to do is take the babies outside we'll
see if one will cry and if it will she
might hear it and come out two of them
there's three one more there's three
yeah
my the gation period for them 63 days 63
days and then how long do they take to
well they're they go out with the mother
after about 3 months so they would have
been in there for another two and a half
months little Tong making noise and this
is only a month old not less than a
month no about 2 weeks old their eyes
open at 21 days and their eyes are still
closed so you know they're not even 3
weeks yet yeah yeah so the bird sound is
that's them mhm it's like a chittering
yeah yeah yeah a lot of people think
it's Birds because we saw birds around
here
right my God actually they cute they're
little people actually keep them for
pets it's illegal in Canada in the
United States they do okay so since this
is just such a complex attic and this
area is completely different from where
she headed she's not really going to
know where the sounds are even coming
from or where they are so we're going to
move on to the next step just finish
closing everything and put them in the
box for her and we'll set up a camera
for tonight and now we will place the
babies in the heated box I already had
the heating pad warming up for them so
that they're nice and warm and then
we're going to put them on the roof
where the mom's getting in and she will
come out later today when she's not as
scared and she has time to search the
attic cuz you must wonder what she
thinks when she comes back to her spot
and her babies are gone she didn't
really see us take her babies and she'll
search everywhere for them and then
eventually tonight she'll be like okay I
have to go out she comes out and she'll
stumble across her baby so she'll be
happily surprised when she comes out and
sees these little guys they'll be nice
and warm in our heated box while they
wait for her
it's a little rainy today but that's
okay because they'll stay nice and warm
and nice and dry in our
box we just get all three of them out
here the guy's hiding in the
bag so there we go all three
babies they're very cute they're going
to grow up to be big raccoons just like
their
mom we'll place them in
here the heating pads nice and
warm going to close the box and bring
them up to the
roof what you're seeing here is the mom
coming out for the very first time her
entry hole is actually right beside her
on her right hand and it's the roof sop
intersection where she was getting in so
this is later in the day so she already
has spent the day in the Attic probably
looking around wondering where her
babies are and this is her very first
time out of the attic to come see if she
can find her babies she is definitely
smelling them in the box she's kind of
just checking the Box's surroundings and
seeing what's going on
here and there she goes already finding
the door which is amazing a lot of moms
will actually spend a bit more time
skeptical of the box but I think she
could smell her babies so she
immediately went in to go grab one of
them at this point she decides that
she's going to take a baby out and
initially we thought she might start
relocating immediately but for the next
hour or so she is circling around the
roof trying to get back in she realizes
that she can't get back in where her
entry hole was because we have our
one-way door on there so she's kind of
just wondering what her next step is at
this
point then around 6:30 here she decides
that the box is a great place for her to
to keep her babies so she goes back in
with her baby and all three of them are
cozy in the box with
her a lot of people will ask if we allow
mom and babies to stay in the box if she
should choose to do so and we do so in
this case and other cases we allow mom
to live in there as long as she wants
and it's really up to her when she wants
to move but as you can see here we
arrived cuz we do need to check on the
box still even though we have the camera
we just want to make sure everything's
okay with the customer and check back so
we did arrive back that is why mom is on
the roof and here is us we've now left
and Mom is just looking for us probably
but she's comfortable in her
box on this day this is when we had to
come back the camera had died we came
back we reposition the camera to get a
different angle and set up a new one
this is very cool to see a mom in our
box because we don't often get the
opportunity to see a
mom's patterns behaviors what when
she'll go out at night when she comes
back so we got to really monitor her
24/7 pretty much with this camera which
is amazing the cameras we are using our
real link and we have partnered with
them to provide all our technicians with
cameras to humanely monitor our jobs our
baby boxes anything going on with a job
site we are heading to which is amazing
this mom was very comfortable in our box
and it was very cool to see her living
here with her
babies she's in there sorry
Mom
hello it's
okay so we have returned to check on Mom
and the babies and the reason I'm back
is because I am going to be attached ing
this rink solar panel to the camera so
that the battery does not run out while
we capture all the footage of mom and
her babies living in our box the footage
has been really cool seeing her come out
and back in and just sleeping in there
with her babies there she goes but
she'll be back and we'll be able to see
it so the first day that when we removed
these babies was a week and a half ago
and their eyes were closed and as I'm
checking on them right now that guy's
eyes they're kind of slitting open but
this little baby he actually has a full
eye open and his eyes are opening so
they're 21 days of age it's very cool to
see them get bigger I can even feel that
they're bigger than when we first
removed them which is really
cool and this guy oh his eyes are
opening too so it's really cool to see
we'll keep the camera set up we don't
mind letting mom live here it'll be cool
to see them start to to come out onto
the roof and explore and to
see them grow
up okay we'll close the Box
so we have a box full of babies we have
our re link camera set up to watch and I
have Mama raccoon watching me install it
all she's just curious cuz she hasn't
gone anywhere she usually comes back
pretty quick she goes it's okay I'm
going to leave so you can have your
babies so our camera will capture all
footage on this day we returned to
attach a solar panel to the camera and
that is the cord that you're seeing
there so she's a little more skeptical
on this day about if she still wants to
stay here you can see she's kind of in
and out she's still kind of looking for
us we had just left at this point so
she's looking around seeing if she
really is
alone and here you can see that she's
deciding to start potentially moving
them she's moving the babies around more
than other
days at this point I think she finally
decided okay I'm going to move my babies
in a second here you'll see that she
starts coming out of the box with her
first baby
and it was such a unique opportunity to
be able to see this we really enjoyed
watching this job so we don't mind that
the mom stayed I think it was about 10
maybe over 10 days about 14 days that
she was in there which is
amazing so Mom took all three of her
babies to an alternate Den site which is
great they are happy and healthy with
her they got to stay as long as she
needed in our box and we love to be able
to provide that to raccoons when they
need it
so there she goes the second baby and
here she is coming back for the last
little one
