How is it possible that churches, or many churches,
decided to close their doors just on those dates
when they were supposed to have them open?
Christian Terges is a Greco-Catholic Roman priest
and deputy to the European Parliament,
representing Romania as a member of the group of European conservatives and reformists.
Having grown up under communism made him alert to stealthy totalitarianism.
You will have unelected bureaucrats.
Often unknown bureaucrats deciding in the name of your state.
And if they decide that something is wrong with the people,
they will not have to pay the bills because you do not even know who those people are.
In this episode, I share a warning about the consolidation of power
seen in international organizations,
such as the European Union and the World Health Organization.
We are witnessing the Chinification of Europe,
and I have put the example of the digital COVID certificate,
but it has not stayed there.
This is American Thought Leaders, I am Yanji Kellek.
Christian Terges, a pleasure to have you on American Thought Leaders.
Thank you for inviting me.
Many people know that you have risen against COVID mandates and forced protocols,
but they do not know that you are American. Tell us about your background.
I was born in 1978, in the worst times of communist Romania.
I was 11 years old when communism collapsed in Romania.
We were persecuted for the religious position that my family had.
I belong to the Greco-Catholic Romanian community,
which was the only church abolished by the communists in 1948 in Romania
for their anti-communist positions.
But we were also persecuted for political reasons.
Members of my family were part of a national conservative party before 1946.
For that reason, they were also persecuted by the communists.
In addition, in 1969, an uncle of mine, my grandfather's brother, fled Romania.
He crossed the Danube to Yugoslavia.
From Yugoslavia he moved to Austria, then to Germany and from Germany to the United States.
My family was constantly monitored by security,
the equivalent of the KGB in the Soviet Union.
That's how I grew up.
After the fall of communism in 1989,
we tried to do what we considered appropriate.
When I finished high school, I went to the seminary.
In 2002, I emigrated to the United States and got married here.
My wife, who is Romanian-American, had been in the United States since 1997.
I was in the United States for 17 years,
until I was elected to the European Parliament in 2019.
In 2006, I returned to Romania, I became a priest and returned to the United States.
I opened a church in Tustin, California,
and there I served my community until I went to the European Parliament.
Meanwhile, I worked as a programmer for a medical company.
That was the job I had while I dedicated myself to everything related to the church.
I was also very involved in the civic defense of human rights and religious freedom in Romania.
With these background, I entered the European Parliament in 2019.
I have to tell you that I was a Christian.
At first I was a little worried and I thought,
my God, this is a new job.
I have to learn many things.
How to read the budget and how to do this and that.
And then, at the end of 2019, the COVID pandemic began.
Then I realized that talking about basic fundamental rights was something that no one else talked about.
At first, I listened to many of the conservative US commentators.
Rush Limbaugh was the commentator who helped me understand American society,
everything I had lived under communism.
He helped me understand what is happening in the United States
and to know clearly what is right and what is wrong.
When I had the opportunity to take a stand and defend what is right,
I was not afraid to do it.

How was he elected outside the United States in the European Parliament?
Just to clarify that point, it is interesting.
Oh yes, you see, that is something that many people have asked me.
As I mentioned before, I was very involved in issues related to human rights and religious freedom,
the defense of democracy and the rule of law in Romania.
For this reason, I was well known in Romania.
In 2019, one of the parties in Romania, to get more votes and get more seats in parliament,
made a survey to see exactly who they could have on their list outside their party base.
To get more votes. I was that person.
So they offered me that position.
It was the fourth place on their list in the Social Democratic Party.
I had never been a Social Democrat.
I had to talk to the church, because it is difficult for an active priest in the Catholic Church to also dedicate himself to politics.
I had to talk to my church to exempt me from my obligations while I was in the public square.
The bishop said, I will give you a dispensation.
I said, no, I don't want that.
Because I am elected by everyone and I am in that position.
After all, I serve my people regardless of their religious confession.
When I preach on the altar, when I serve my mass, I do it for my circumscription.
But when I'm in the European Parliament, I do it for everyone.
I don't want the Romanians who don't share my faith to feel offended because I'm an active priest.
So we came to that agreement.
The discussion I had with the party was, look, I'll stay a year in your party.
Because in the European Parliament there is a system in which, depending on the number of members you have, you get certain administrative positions in the Parliament.
After a year, I will join the Conservative group, and so I did.
I am currently in Romania and I am the president of the Romanian Conservative Party, a very young party that we have just founded.
We are working to explain to the Romanians the importance of conservative values.
There are already many people who are joining our party.
Seeing what I have done in the European Parliament during the last three years, they say,
we trust you, we trust your values, we want to join your party.
This is where we are now.
Fascinating. When did you realize for the first time with the pandemic that something was not going well?
I had some friends who told me that in November 2019, the Taiwanese authorities notified the WHO about a presumably deadly virus that was in China.
I heard about that in December 2019.
The main media began to talk about it, and then I started asking around.
I was not very aware of what the WHO was and what it was doing.
Out of nowhere, everyone was talking about the WHO. Obviously, I started investigating.
I always wondered, why hasn't the WHO said anything?
I remember that in January 2020, I found out that the current WHO Director General, Tedros,
was part of a Marxist organization and had the support of the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
In the United States, President Trump called it the Chinese virus.
He was trying to calm people down by telling them that it was not a deadly virus.
Out of nowhere, in March 2020, the narrative changed.
From a non-lethal virus, it became the deadliest virus in the world, and everyone had to be blocked.
Then they said, the solution is the vaccine.
The government was going to sign contracts with these pharmaceutical companies to buy the vaccines.
At that time, we did not know how many vaccines they would buy.
You would be getting these vaccines for free.
If you didn't get vaccinated, you couldn't exercise certain fundamental rights.
This really happened in Europe with the right to travel and the right to go to work.
So I said, wait a minute, something's going on here.
Ronald Reagan used to say that the worst words you'll hear are,
I'm from the government and I'm here to help you.
That's the kind of words we hear like,
We are from the government. We just bought some very good vaccines for you.
If you don't take them, we'll force you into the body.
Taking into account my training and my firm faith in individual freedom and national sovereignty,
when I saw what was happening, I could understand that the ultimate goal
was to suppress the rights and freedoms of people and the national sovereignty of the European member states.
That's why I started talking little by little, then I talked to my colleagues.
There were three other colleagues who started this movement in Parliament.
They said, we have to talk to the media.
That was when we had the first press conference and exposed many of these facts.
It all started in December 2019,
when I discovered that the Taiwanese authorities notified the WHO about this virus
and did nothing about it.
Seeing how the saga was developing,
I realized that something was really wrong and we had to investigate it.
Did you realize that something was very wrong with the whole picture?
Yes, it made no sense.
Also, as an elected official, I have to vote on certain things
that affect people's lives for generations,
even after we are no longer in office.
How can you vote on these things without knowing all the facts
and without knowing that there may be so many risks?
I tried to raise these issues even in private conversations.
They told me, yes, we agree with you.
I told them, adopt a position.
Many said, the media is going to crucify us.
I told them, that doesn't matter.
You can't play with people's lives.
I was one of the few members of the European Parliament
who refused to play with people's lives.
After all, if they want to get vaccinated and get the vaccine,
I had nothing against it.
But as the Oviedo Convention says,
and as the European Charter of Fundamental Rights says,
that decision must be based on free and informed consent.
There was a time when this digital certificate was adopted
and all these coercive measures.
You had to face it directly and had to vote on them.
Tell us about your experience.
I think it was in April 2021.
At that time, many of us worked from home.
They told us not to come to Brussels and we were voting online.
Then we received this message that we had to go to Brussels
and talk about this urgent procedure that must be adopted
to adopt the COVID digital certificate.
I started asking questions.
What is an urgent procedure?
How is it done?
Because it had never happened before, at least in my mind.
They answered me, we don't have time to debate.
We have to vote quickly.
I said, wait a second.
How can we not debate it?
When we read the draft, I realized that people
will not be able to exercise certain rights
unless they are subject to or present proof of vaccination.
All this will be done in an electronic system.
You will have a QR code on your phone
and with it you can open certain doors.
If you don't have it, you won't be able to do it.
When we celebrated the initial meeting,
someone from the European Commission came
and tried to convince us to vote in favor of this law.
I asked him if anyone could die
after being injected with this supposed vaccine.
Because as usually happens with medical products,
there may be contraindications, as they call them.
Of course.
Each product has them.
Exactly.
You can't pass a law to force everyone to take a medicine.
It doesn't make any sense because someone will probably have a side effect.
We can't play.
We can't play like this with people's lives.
I asked them,
can someone die after being injected with this medical product?
The person replied,
yes, but how many people can we save?
I told him,
that wasn't the question.
Can someone die after being injected with this medical product?
They answered me,
they can also die after taking Advil.
I said,
it may be true,
but we are not going to vote for a law
that forces us to take Advil to travel by plane or cross the border.
I asked them again,
can someone die?
They said,
they can probably die because it may have an adverse effect.
I told them,
in that case I am against it.
I will vote against it and I will speak out against it.
They asked me,
why?
I told them,
because here we are not God.
Being in an elected position,
we cannot play God and the Russian roulette with people's lives.
If you think this product is so good,
then persuade people to take it,
but don't force them.
It's absurd that we, as elected officials,
vote on recipes for different diseases.
It's absurd.
So why are we going to have doctors?
If we have to agree in a political parliament
about the type of medical treatment people should take against a disease,
it's absolutely absurd.
At that time,
I was in the minority.
The group I represented was in the minority.
Unfortunately,
in the end,
they gave us the reason.
Right now,
in the European Union,
countries with the highest vaccination rate
have the highest mortality rate.
Five years before the pandemic,
they made an average of deaths per month.
Then they compared the average of deaths per month before the pandemic
with the average of deaths per month after the pandemic.
In many countries in Western Europe,
more people die now than during the pandemic.
Countries with the highest vaccination rate
have the highest mortality rate.
Countries with the lowest vaccination rate,
like Romania,
have the lowest mortality rate.
Who can explain this?
Why does Romania have such a low vaccination rate?
First of all,
the main reason was that people did not trust the government.
We have gone through a totalitarian regime.
When the government says,
I have a wonderful treatment for you,
take it and you will be saved.
There is apprehension among people.
What I did in the European Parliament,
my political partners in the Romanian Parliament did at the same time.
The A.U.R.
We constantly used different procedures
to find out what was going on.
In the Romanian Parliament,
they used all the lagoons of the regulation
to postpone the law that forced people to be vaccinated.
We went out to the street.
When we got there,
we took them out to the street.
Then people started calling and saying,
Look, if you vote in favor of this,
I will not vote for you or your party again.
They realized that most of the population was against
and refused to approve that law.
For that reason,
we did not have a mandate in Romania.
It was one of the few countries in the European Union
that did not have a mandate.
Anyone who wanted to be vaccinated had the option to do so.
In Romania,
thirty-something percent of the population was vaccinated.
But the reality right now
is that the data shows that countries
with the highest vaccination rate
have the highest mortality rate.
And countries with the lowest vaccination rate
have the lowest mortality rate.
What was the reaction of the U.N.
parliamentary colleagues to your stance?
It depends.
Parliamentarians from Western European countries
looked at us and said,
You are incredible.
You are against science.
You are endangering people's lives.
Are you telling us that our governments want to kill us?
I remember talking to someone from Finland.
For them and for Sweden,
it was inconceivable
that the government could approve something
that endangered the lives of its own citizens.
They have not gone through a totalitarian regime,
but the Romans have.
And that's why we were more prudent.
I mean,
there were four people who started the first press wheel.
I was from Romania, from Eastern Europe.
Ivan Zinzic was from Croatia, Eastern Europe.
Kristina Andersson was from Germany,
but originally from Eastern Germany.
Then we had Francesca Donato from Italy,
who was a judge.
She had the right values
when it came to human rights.
So let's start with this.
Now many of our colleagues come to us
and tell us that we were right
because they have had adverse effects.
I told them,
They answered me,
I can stop for a moment at this point
because it's super interesting.
Most Western European countries
have basic medical coverage
guaranteed by the government.
You say that the members of the European Parliament
have additional coverage.
Extra coverage.
Yes.
Please tell us quickly about it.
Extra coverage will cover everything.
When you have a socialized medical system
that everyone can use for free,
in the end there is not enough for everyone.
If you give it all for free,
everyone will take it.
But when you really need it,
there is not enough for you.
That's what happens in many European countries,
including Romania.
That's why people with money
prefer to go to hospitals and private clinics.
In this case, the European Parliament
pays the extra coverage for it.
This is one of the problems that many people have,
even in Romania.
Many hospitals were built under the communist regime.
Many of them are not built according to modern standards.
Many politicians go to Western European countries
to receive better care.
They do not receive medical treatment in Romania,
while normal people go to those bad hospitals.
Let's talk about the media.
People have said,
I'm not going to talk because the media
will crucify me for it.
This is an important issue,
not only in Romania and in the European Parliament,
obviously.
Tell us about it.
The role of the media,
especially in democracy,
is to properly inform the people.
It is a guardian dog for the people,
not against it.
It is not a public relations company for the government.
The media must monitor
what is happening in the government
and properly inform the population.
During the pandemic,
the media did exactly the opposite
of what they are supposed to do in a democracy.
Subrayo in a democracy.
Because in countries like China,
North Korea,
Russia,
and communist Romania,
we also had media.
But the media did not do
what they do in a democracy.
The media indoctrinated people.
The media lied to people.
The media deceived people.
The media crucified people
if they said something against the government.
So we have two roles, you know.
The media in a democracy
and the media in a totalitarian regime.
And for me,
who came from an ancient communist country,
seeing that the Western media
behaved exactly like those of a totalitarian regime
was inconceivable.
Not only that,
they were passive when they should have asked questions.
But they were very active
when it came to crushing the people
who asked the right questions.
Maybe the questions were not correct,
but it does not matter.
In a free society,
we have the right to ask the questions we want.
In addition,
they were crushing people
and raising serious concerns.
When I found out about the first edition
of the International Summit of COVID in Rome,
I spoke with my colleague Ivan Zinzic.
Then we said,
let's bring those people to the European Parliament.
Let's give them a stage
where they can present their findings.
Because again,
I'm not a medical expert.
If someone looks at my statements
at the beginning of the pandemic,
I never mentioned anything about
how bad the vaccine was,
or how bad or good the vaccine was,
or what the vaccine contained,
because I didn't know.
I was strictly based on legal and logical arguments.
That was my strong point.
For that reason,
no one could criticize me
and claim that I am an anti-vaccine,
because I never said
that people should not be injected
that medical product.
But I wanted to hear
what all those experts had to say.
We celebrated the third International Summit of COVID
in the European Parliament,
in Brussels.
Speaking with them
and with my colleagues from the Romanian Parliament,
the decision was made
to celebrate the fourth edition in Bucharest,
within the Romanian Parliament.
It was important to celebrate it in the Parliament
because that's where the legislative body is.
Then, in Bucharest,
the decision was made
to celebrate the fifth edition,
now called the International Summit on Crisis.
At the beginning of the pandemic,
when they talked about these vaccines,
they said,
you get an injection and you will have immunity,
then you are safe.
Many people believed that story
and got vaccinated once,
but then got sick again and got infected.
Then they put the second vaccine,
you need reinforcement.
Then the second,
the third and the fourth.
Suddenly they changed.
They no longer said
that these injections gave you immunity.
They said they provide protection.
That's totally different.
In the United States,
the CDC changed the definition
that the vaccine provides immunity
by the one that provides protection.
From night to morning,
all the main media in the world,
when referring to these medical products,
they said,
they provide protection.
A journalist who is supposed
to seek the truth and expose it,
how is it possible that out of nowhere
they change that narrative
and adopt it without explaining why?
And crushing the people who wonder why?
I would not say that they were all bought,
but it is clear that most
of the main media,
especially the media
or the management
or the people who own them,
were interested in promoting this narrative.
Now we find out that different NGOs,
like Bill and Melinda Gates or Soros,
have actually paid
many of these media.
For many of them,
it was more convenient to copy and paste
and repeat the same narrative,
instead of doing their job
of seeking the truth
and exposing the truth
and nothing more than the truth.
I think something has changed.
Even the best journalism schools
in the United States
teach what is called
activist journalism.
One would think that journalists
would wonder about things,
but they took a close look
at everything that happened.
This is what we have to understand
in a democratic society.
We have to go back to the basics.
We have to understand
the importance of freedom and period.
This freedom has multiple branches.
There is freedom of thought,
freedom of movement
and freedom of worship.
I speak now from the perspective
of a priest.
How is it possible that many churches
have decided to close their doors
precisely in the times
when they should have them open?
I saw what happened in Italy.
I was in northern Italy
in representation of this COVID Commission
of the European Parliament.
We were there officially
to see what happened
and how it started and the pandemic stopped.
My colleague Christine Anderson and I
were not allowed to enter the hospital
because we were not vaccinated.
We are talking about the beginning of 2023.
We could not enter
an Italian hospital officially
to talk to those doctors
about what happened
at the beginning of the pandemic
because we were not vaccinated.
We wanted to find out
because it was very interesting
what happened there.
I asked the security guard
if a patient comes
and is not vaccinated,
what do you do?
He replied,
we have to vaccinate them.
I do not accept that this type of society
As long as I am in that position,
I will fight for freedom for all
and for the restoration of democracy
and freedom in Europe.
You said something very interesting
at one point.
You described what was happening
in Europe in broad terms
as Chinification.
Another way to describe it
would be Europe with Chinese characteristics.
The current leadership of the European Union
is led by Ursula von der Leyen,
the president of the European Commission.
Since she has been in office
in 2019,
she has been promoting all these policies
that were more or less copied
and pasted from Chinese society.
I was the first in the European Parliament
to say that under the leadership
of Ursula von der Leyen
we are witnessing the Chinification of Europe.
I put the example of the COVID digital certificate,
but the thing
did not stay there.
In 2019,
when she applied to be elected
President of the European Commission
in the European Parliament
in Strasbourg, she said the following
Carbon emissions must have
a price that changes our behavior.
I was a newly elected
MP in the Parliament.
When she said that,
I remembered what happened in California
with all those leftist laws
that practically destroyed the golden state.
This is the reason why
I did not vote for her
as President of the European Commission.
Since then, I have been attentive
to all these policies and regulations
that the European Commission proposed
with the pretext of fighting
against carbon emissions.
In 2019, she said that
the goal of all these policies
is not to save the planet,
but to change our behavior.
So it's a social construction.
It has nothing to do with ecology
or saving the planet.
It refers to a system
that will fully control the population
and domesticate people
in a certain way.
We saw it during the pandemic.
I will give you the example of Italy,
which has many islands.
When Draghi was the Prime Minister
of Italy, he approved a law
that said that if you do not have
the digital COVID certificate,
you cannot use mass public transport.
For those who live in the interior,
mass public transport
means train or bus.
For the inhabitants of the islands,
mass public transport
was the transporter
that took them from the island
to the continent.
They could not use it.
They could not go anywhere.
So they were trapped.
There are many Romans
working in Italy.
They have called me Roman families
from Italy crying because one night
they had to decide at the table
which of the parents should be vaccinated
to be able to go out and go to work.
I don't want that kind of situation
in Europe.
It's inconceivable.
How can you not be able to work
if you don't inject something into your body?
That's why in Europe
we have the so-called Nuremberg Code.
Then we have the Oviedo Convention,
which clearly stipulates that no one
should receive medical treatment
unless there is free and informed
consent from the patient.
Then we have this provision
mentioned in the European Charter
of Basic Fundamental Rights.
We have legal guarantees,
but during the pandemic
it was the total reverse of those guarantees.
One by one,
the European Union is copying
these policies from China.
In China, there is a social credit system
in which you can't do certain things.
You can't use your bank account
if you write something on the Internet
against the government.
In Europe, if you criticize the government,
there are people who already have problems.
They close their accounts
on social media,
their videos are deleted from the Internet.
We can see how all this happens.
You are opposed to the OMS
and the international health regulations
that are being considered now,
which are very worrying for people
here in the United States and Canada.
Why is all this happening?
I was very reluctant to all these theories
about the World Economic Forum,
FEM, which some call conspiracy theories.
When the pandemic began
and I was talking about what was happening,
I received many private messages
from people who told me,
hey, stop criticizing.
This was mentioned a few years ago
at the FEM summit.
Going back to what happened during that period,
I investigated the OMS as an institution.
It was then that they presented
this treaty proposal.
It is not yet ratified,
but it is in the early stages.
It will force countries to ratify it
to move much of the decision-making process
of their national bodies
to the OMS.
When the OMS declares a pandemic,
it will be able to exercise
its authority over that country.
You will have unknown bureaucrats
and not elected by deciding
on behalf of your country.
If they decide to do something bad for the people,
they will not have to pay the bills
because we do not even know
who those people are.
In Europe, right now,
they are imposing a new vision
for a European treaty
in which there is no supremacy
of the national constitution.
In the United States,
when you want to become an American citizen,
you have to learn 100 questions.
One of the questions is,
what is the constitution?
The answer is,
the supreme law of the country.
In Europe, the new vision
of the European Commission
is that the constitution of a country
is not the supreme law of the country.
There is the European law,
which is above that constitution.
There can be nothing above the constitution.
Even an international treaty
or an international agreement,
when you ratify it,
that agreement cannot go
against your constitution.
For example, you have an ONG
with certain statutes,
and without those statutes,
the ONG cannot work.
The same thing happens
with the constitution of any country.
Now, we see the transfer
of these powers that national governments
have to these international institutions
that are controlled by people
that we don't even know.
In the case of the OMSE,
for example,
most of the budget
does not come from the countries.
It comes from private entities
like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Why the hell would someone
accept something like this?
This is something that must be
constantly denounced.
I am sure that the more people
hear about it, the more it will be reported.
I hope they adopt a position
and ask their electoral positions
in the different parliaments
or congresses to vote against
the ratification of a treaty like this.
I am seeing what Klaus Schwab said.
Everyone talks about a global government
and a single government.
We live right now in a world order
after the Second World War
that began with the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights
in 1948
that establishes that all men
are created equal in dignity
and human rights.
They want to change this world order
in which we lived.
In which the individual is more important
than the government and the bureaucrats.
For a new world in which
the government and the unelected bureaucrats
are more important than the people.
This is exactly
the Marxist ideology.
Every time the United States
goes through a crisis,
many commentators are heard asking
what was the idea of the founding fathers?
What was the vision
of the founding fathers?
The Western world needs to do that.
Everyone talks about these futuristic plans.
We want this world.
We want that world.
But wait a second.
Where are we going?
Because if you have a flower,
you cut the flower,
and you give it to a woman,
it will not last long,
only a day or two,
and then it will die.
The same thing happens with a tree.
You need deep roots
for that tree to survive
any kind of storm.
Right now,
they are cutting those roots.
The next generation
is not even realizing
who they are,
because they do not know who they were.
For them to be able to control the future,
it is not necessary to control the present,
but it is necessary

the importance of individual freedom,

and the obligation of our generation
to fight for freedom,
not only for our generation,
but for the generations to come.
