"The Hallowed Way" - Falun Dafa Inspired Music
I wrote this song for the celebration of World Falun Dafa Day 2024, a day where Falun Dafa practitioners from all over the world celebrate the day in 1992 when the spreading of Dafa, ”The Great Law”, began in China, and has since then spread to over 100 countries.
The lyrics are intended as a compassionate outreach to the Chinese people, who have been misled by the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) today. The Chinese of the past had a deep connection and belief that the human being should live in harmony with Heaven and Earth and all beings around them, with the foundations in the Buddhist and Daoist traditions. As CCP came to power, they have fostered a mentality of conflict and struggle, pitting people against one another. They still do that today, as a means to maintain power. They have continually persecuted around 5% of the Chinese population as a tool for instigating fear and desperately maintaining control.
In 1999, the CCP unleashed its viciousness on yet another group, targeting the practitioners of a peaceful meditation practice Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong. By slandering the practice with all their state controlled means - TV, radio and newspapers - 24/7, they eventually managed to turn a great portion of the population against Falun Gong, even making many of them complicit in the relentless persecution that has now been going on for 25 years.
The lyrics of this song are an expression of the hope that the people who has been deceived shall remember the foundational character of the beautiful Chinese culture which is rooted in the universal values Truthfulness (Zhen) Compassion (Shan) and Tolerance (Ren). Taking the hallowed way home refers to returning to their beings truest origin, which, according to ancient Chinese beliefs, is Divine.
"The sound of Dafa Hao, Zhen Shan Ren Hao” refers to practitioners all over the world celebrating the beauty of Falun Dafa on World Falun Dafa Day.
I would like to extend my thanks to soprano Charlotta Johansson (Norway) for singing so beautifully, and to Enrico Sieber (Austria) for a marvelous piano accompaniment!
