Dangerous high speed PURSUIT in construction zone - Hyundai Elantra flees from Arkansas State Police
Trooper's Report:
On 4/26/24 around 9:15 am, the Saline County Sheriff's Office advised they were in pursuit of a white passenger vehicle with
an out of state license plate on I-30 WB near the 123 MM. Saline County advised they canceled the pursuit because they lost
sight of the vehicle. Saline County advised the vehicle was traveling over 100 mph and passing other vehicles on the left
shoulder.
Around 9:17 am, I observed the described vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit around the 116 MM WB. The vehicle
began weaving in and out of traffic and passing traffic on the right shoulder at a high rate of speed. I activated my emergency
lights and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to stop. The vehicle began traveling between 90 and
100 mph in a 60 mph construction zone while weaving through traffic.
Around the 113 MM, the vehicle entered into the construction area site between the westbound and eastbound lanes. This
area is closed to traffic and the construction company was actively working in this area. The vehicle continued traveling
between 60 mph and 80 mph. The vehicle narrowly missed several pieces of construction equipment and construction
employees while traveling through this area at a high rate of speed. The vehicle finally stopped around the 111 MM in the
construction site area.
The driver was taken into custody without issue. S1 was then transported to the Saline County Jail
where he was charged with:
Fleeing (C/F), Aggravated Assault (X2), Reckless Driving, Careless / Prohibited Driving, Failure to
Present Proof of Insurance, Improper Lane Change, Improper Passing on the Right, Speeding, and Fictitious Tags. The Saline
County Sheriff's Office also had numerous charges on S1 including Fleeing (C/F) and Reckless Driving.
