The Symphony No. 3 in E♭ major, op. 55, is one of Beethoven's most famous works. The Eroica Symphony is a large-scale composition that marks the beginning of the composer's innovative "middle period".
Composed mainly in 1803-1804, the work pushed the boundaries in terms of symphonic form, length, harmony and emotional and cultural content. It is widely regarded as a milestone in the transition from Classical to Romanticism. It is also often regarded as the first Romantic symphony. Beethoven conducted the first private performance on 9 June 1804 and later the first public performance on 7 April 1805.
That early evening, a violent foehn storm was raging on the Engstlenalp, Wagencheer in Switzerland. Perhaps you can recognise it somewhat by the movement in the trees. The video was recorded by Christian Schlegel and edited by Wenjing Ma.
