A former Trump Secretary of Defense revealed that the House January 6th Committee pressured him
into staying silent. This was about the claims that President Trump did not authorize the
deployment of 10,000 National Guard troops before the Capitol incident on January 6th.
On March 23rd, former Acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, who had only been on the job for
about two months, said that the January 6th panel members used aggressive tactics. This was after he
spoke to several media outlets about President Trump's authorization to deploy the troops.
The final report from the January 6th Subcommittee claimed that President Trump did not authorize the
deployment of the National Guard. In 2022, Miller and former Trump National Security Official
Kash Patel appeared on Fox News. Miller recently said the two of us were on the Fox News show
and the next day my lawyer got a call from the January 6th staff director. I forgot exactly who
it was but basically saying very legalistically, well if your client has additional information
he wants to share, we'd be happy to have him re-interviewed. Miller said it was more that
latent threat of, if you want to keep going on TV, we're going to drag you in here again for
additional hours of hearing testimony. So that was the nature of that whole thing. It was the latent
threat of the government continuing to intrude into my life. Miller added that he did not have
the resources to continue the battle with the January 6th committee and he didn't want to face
more depositions. Instead Miller kept to himself and he did not discuss how the panel targeted him.
Miller admitted that he didn't discuss it with anyone out of fear or concern. He asserted,
I wasn't communicating with anybody because I knew any interaction I had on it would result
in me having to acknowledge that I'd been in communication with other people. And then that
just sort of opens up a whole can of worms with the investigators that I just didn't want to do.
Miller also said it was much easier just to not be involved with anybody or talk to anybody about
this stuff because it was going to cause conflict and difficulties with the investigating team.
According to Miller, it was clear that former representative Liz Cheney was running the January
6th panel even though she was one of only two Republicans on the committee. Miller said that he
believes Cheney was not pleased with Miller's appearance on television and his speaking against
the panel's anti-Trump narrative. This was because she lost the 2022 Wyoming Republican primary to
pro-Trump Harriet Hageman. Miller said that Cheney and other members of the January 6th panel will
likely attempt to downplay his claims about the National Guard authorization by President Trump.
He added the committee was engaged in political theater. Miller also said we obviously had plans
for activating more folks but that was not anything more than contingency planning.
There was no official message traffic or anything of that nature. His recent remarks
may seem to be contradictory to his statements that he made in 2022. Miller told the January
6th panel I was never given any direction or order or knew of any plans of that nature.
There was no order from the president. He told the January 6th panel that President Trump did not
order the 10,000 National Guard troops before January 6th but isn't this because President
Trump could not order them he could only authorize them.
