(Premier League 2023/2024): Highlights Crystal Palace - Burnley

Welcome to a new era in Crystal Palace's football journey. The Glasner era after Austrian Oliver Glasner took over the reins of this team from Roy Hodgson on Wednesday this week. He's committed to giving the fans goals. He's excited to see the fans at Selhurst Park this afternoon. Could he be the man to drive Palace further up the table and secure safety? Well, the visitors Burnley, despite having a less than ideal campaign so far, will be by no means an easy start to the Austrians' tenure. Such is the beautiful game of the Premier League. Who plays it out? One more to IU. IU will probably look for the cross now. Flicked back to Wharton. Wharton sends it in once more. Edouard! Fantastic work from Odson Edouard. O'Shea just about got the better of him on the turn. And it's with Trafford. Lerner is fouled on the edge of the area. And it is a free kick. And it's a red card! Quick decision there from the referee. Here we go. Edouard on the edge of the area where the foul took place to take the free kick for Palace. And it's just, just over the top of the bar. It was going towards the left-hand corner, finding Munoz on the loop. Munoz sends it in. Edouard! It's still alive! It's still alive for Crystal Palace. It was a fantastic chance for Mitchell. He's looking to offer himself as the ball is with Wharton. Shot goes in! Reliable defensive force of Burnley takes that away. Jordan IU whips it in once more. Richards at the back post! Chris Richards has broken the deadlock at Selhurst Park. And the crowd erupts into madness. He's on the overlap. Franta once more. Mateta's inside him if he wants to play it to him. Mateta across the face of goal! Jordan IU! Franta is on the ball. Trafford was well off his line. He's now reassumed position. Franta's got two with him. That's a big foul inside the penalty area. And it is a penalty! And he's scored it for Palace 2! It's goal number three. It's his fourth of the season. Vettino steps over, looks to send the cross in but cuts back. Vettino going all on his own seemingly. Great save from Johnson to block the initial cross. But that's going to ricochet in for a Burnley goal! Josh Cullen has also gone over. The Irishman protesting with the waving of his arms. He doesn't understand I think. And a decision has come through. It is indeed offside. No goal for Burnley. And the subsequent cross has worked out well for Crystal Palace because they're the ones breaking away with the ball from Burnley possession. But they won't do anything with it. That's the full-time whistle. It's finished. Crystal Palace 3, Burnley 0 at Selhurst Park. Oliver Glasner has started off his reign at Selhurst with a 3-0 win. Full-time at Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace 3, Burnley 0.
