China: Birth rate decreases, many hospitals in China halt obstetric services

According to Chinese media, three hospitals, the People's Hospital No. 5 in Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province; the Chinese and Western Traditional Medicine Hospital in Dingnan City, Jiangxi Province; and the Chinese Traditional Medicine Hospital in Jiangshan City, Zhejiang Province, have announced the cessation of obstetric services in 2024. This decision, driven by hospital development plan adjustments and standardization of obstetric service quality, will undoubtedly significantly impact the local communities, particularly expectant mothers and their families.
