if you're getting slapped with fees from
your checking account I've got a better
option for you with this list of best
checking accounts that I found this year
and you're going to want to stick around
to the end because I have my
non-negotiables when it comes to opening
up a new checking
account okay so let's go ahead and get
into this list of the best checking
accounts that I found this year and
we're going to be starting with the
Discover checking account you can
actually earn cash back by spending up
to $3,000 in one month and you can get
1% cash back what I really like about
this is that the checking account is and
the debit card is acting like a credit
card in which you get cash back so if
you're really focused on getting away
from credit cards but you still want to
have the perks like a credit card with a
cash back reward system the Discover
checking account is really really smart
and also with all of these checking
accounts that I have on my list they
don't have any fees and you can get paid
early with direct deposit up to 2 days
early when I was doing my research I was
finding that a lot of them had that
similar feature of getting paid early
when you're doing direct deposit and
especially the no fees so let's move on
to the next one in this list which is
chime you can open up chime chime is an
online checking account so there is no
physical branch location that you're
going to be walking into but who's
honestly doing that these days so you're
going to get a fee free overdraft up to
$200 with their spot me feature and then
they have no monthly services or minimum
balance fees and of course you get paid
early with their paycheck direct deposit
feature another feature that I liked
about China is that you can withdraw
cashes from ATMs that are in Walgreens
7-Eleven CVS and Circle K the next one
is the experiened Smart money digital
checking account you've heard my man
Travis Kelsey talk about this a lot he's
been doing a big campaign around this
checking account because it's the debit
card in which you can build your credit
without debt is the whole thing that
they're touting which I really do enjoy
because if you're also working on a
credit card free basis right now you can
still work on building up your credit by
putting transactions on this debit card
inside of your checking account and then
those transactions are going to be
reported to the credit bureaus now not
every credit bureau is the same Experian
is one of those credit bureaus so this
is something that you'll want to take a
look at especially if you're interested
in raising your credit score also
they're currently promoting a $50 bonus
when you set up direct deposit so I
actually went down here to see how you
could be eligible for that and you have
to have a credit at least $11,000 in
direct deposits within 45 days of
opening your account now if you're a W2
worker and you're making at least $1,000
in take-home for your paycheck per month
or you have multiple paychecks adding up
to more than $1,000 this is going to be
really easy for you to do so $50 free
money you get to build your credit I
feel like the experienced smart money
checking account is one to take a look
at the next one is with CIT bank with
their e-checking account I've said this
on my high yield savings account list
because they also made made that list
this is a bank that continues to catch
my eye one that I have not personally
banked with but one that I'm like I
think everybody should look at I I feel
like I want to look into this because
you can open up your e-checking account
with as little as $100 so there is a
minimum requirement to open and then if
you want to earn interest on your
checking account you can earn. 1% on
balances under 25k if you're a high
income earner and you often keep High
balances inside of your checking account
then you can earn .25%
don't think a lot of people are going to
fall into that camp but it is what it is
you also get a debit card you can
transfer and make purchases with zel
Apple pay bill pay Samsung pay there's
no ATM fees a lot of similar features as
to some of the other checking accounts
that I've mentioned so I find that this
is a No Frills thrill type checking
account which is what you kind of want
you don't want a lot of bells and
whistles here and what I love about CIT
bank is in 2022 American Banker named
them the best best customer experience
institution you really want to work with
a bank that puts the customer first and
you can see they actually have multiple
Awards throughout the recent years so
that's something to take a look at the
next one is with Ally Bank now you know
that I'm a big fan of allies high yield
savings account they also have a
checking account what I like about this
checking account is they have spending
buckets now if you're an Alli user on
the savings side then you know all about
their savings buckets where you can
divvy up the money inside of your
savings account into these different
buckets and organize your savings
similar to that with the checking
account you're actually going to get
that with their spending buckets so you
can earmark things for groceries rent
mortgage gas all of these different
things that are going to help you re in
that spending it's almost like there's a
budgeting component a budget app
component to this checking account which
I've not seen with any other bank I
think this is really really smart of
Ally to capitalize on because so many
banks with checkings and savings
accounts are kind of taking that
budgeting element out of the equation
and Ally is really incorporating that
here which is really smart also with
their app you can do e Che deposits from
your smartphone love that if you're
still getting fiscal checks from time to
time this is so easy you get a debit
card FDIC insure all the good stuff and
no fees which I absolutely love the next
one is with Capital One this is their
360 checking account they also have a
360 online savings account that has a
really high interest I've been using
that one for over a year now it's
basically the Toyota Corolla of high
yield savings accounts and similar what
you're going to get with a checking
account it's just like nothing crazy on
the dashboard on the inside everything's
very easy to set up in fact when I was
setting up my high yield savings account
with them I don't have a checking
account with them assuming this is going
to be very very easy to do similar to my
experience with the savings account is
that you literally can do everything
online so long as you have a driver's
license your social security number
everything ready to go to open up that
account it's very easy to do 24/7 Mobile
Banking 70,000 fee free ATMs no fees to
open keep and use very easy love Capital
One it's a big name you know their
credit cards are very popular so this
one is definitely worth checking out and
lastly I want to give a shout out to
Navy Federal Credit Union for my
military members or military Affiliated
now with their checking account it's
interesting here because you actually
have a couple of different options with
their checking account so you can say
like no I no longer serve or have never
served I'm active duty Reserve retired
so if you are let's say no you want
direct
deposit
no account include direct deposit yes
yes okay so I just went through their
little questionnaire you can do this on
their website where you can tell them
whether or not your active duty or
you've never served then they're going
to point you to the right checking
account they do have a flagship checking
account in which you can earn interest
you can get paid out dividends every
single month if you have an ending
balance of at least $1,500 every single
day so again if you're somebody that
constantly keeps a cushion in your
checking account you're a high income
earner and you have a lot of money in
your checking account this could be a
checking account that you take a look at
because the interest that they're paying
on the flagship checking is between. 35
and 45% you're not going to see that
from any other big Banks or credit
unions out there so I was really really
uh surprised to see how much they were
paying out on their checking accounts so
in addition to the flagship checking you
got the free active duty checking if you
are active duty or retired military you
do get a small interest rate payout but
not a whole lot no monthly service fees
or minimum balance balance requirements
the free easy checking it has very
similar features to that and this one
does not require any active duty
designation they also have one
specifically for college students and
then the free everyday checking this
one's no I would skip that it I think
the best one here out of this list is to
look at the flagship checking because
you're going to get that interest rate
of 35 to 45% and then you also get the
benefits of accessing a credit union
Okay so if you made it this far in the
video then I want to share my
non-negotiables for when you are opening
up a new checking account the first
thing is you want no monthly maintenance
fees I can't tell you how many times
I've worked with my one-on-one coaching
clients where their checking account
their banks are charging them a fee for
simply holding their money with that
bank in a checking account it is
absolutely ridiculous and I'm talking
specifically about Bank of America and
Wells Fargo will do this if you don't
meet those minimum requirements
thresholds and spoiler alert there are a
ton of requirements that you have to
meet in order to not be charged that
monthly fee so be aware no monthly
maintenance fees on your checking
account also no minimum balance
requirements if you are somebody who
typically has like small cushion or you
get razor thin close to the edge of
having 0 in your checking account we
definitely want you building up a buffer
in that and we want to make sure that
there are no minimum balance
requirements inside of that checking
account a mobile app and mobile deposits
are like must have for me I want to be
able to access my account on the go if I
needed to change things especially if
I'm traveling or something's happening
and I need quick access to it a mobile
app and mobile deposits is the best way
to go also I want it to connect to
external bank accounts I have high yield
savings accounts with different banks
online banks so I want to be sure that
is connected to my primary checking
account and I can quickly and easily
move money back and forth it goes
without saying but FDIC insured is a
must ATM access or at least reimbursable
ATM fees if they're using the allp point
access ATMs those are everywhere you can
find them in CVS 711s basically any kind
of drugstore or gas station you want to
make sure you have ATM access so you can
withdraw cash at any time interest
bearing is even better that's why I
really liked what I saw on Navy Federal
because they were interest bearing
accounts did I miss a checking account
that you think should be on this list
comment below and let us know what
you're using who you're using and why
it's the best I would love to hear from
you give this video a big thumbs up if
you think it was helpful let me know
what checking account you're using and
I'll catch you in the next
