Taiwan will begin mass production of land-based cruise missiles with a range of 1,000 to 1,200 km, it was announced on 21 April 2022.The warheads come in two types, one with a high-explosive warhead that can hit bunkers and hardened command centers, and the other with "dispersed" munitions that can destroy airfield facilities.The Defense ministry also said it planned to more than double annual missile production to nearly 500 this year to boost its combat capabilities.
經過幾十年的發展，導彈已經從當初單一的地地導彈演變爲地空、艦空、空地等許多類型導彈，射程也從幾十千米發展到一萬多千米。在現代戰爭中，不管戰機或軍艦技術多麼先進，奔赴戰場最前沿直接打擊敵方的仍是這些由飛機或軍艦發射的導彈。
據臺灣中時間新聞網報道，臺灣防空導彈密度，世界排名第二，僅次於以色列，因此導彈陣地也多，且多藏於營區裏。其中，“愛國者”導彈共有9個連，均部署於臺北、臺中與高雄3個都會區。
2022年4月21日有消息稱，臺灣將開始量產射程1000至1200千米的陸基巡航導彈。彈頭有兩種類型，一種帶有高爆彈頭，可打擊掩體和堅固的指揮中心，另一種帶有“分散”彈藥，可摧毀機場設施。臺灣國防也表示，計劃今年將導彈年產量增加一倍以上，達到近500枚，以增強其作戰能力。
