Today we are making low-carb tortillas. Perfect for fajitas, for tacos, for rolling up, anything
you want. We tried this recipe several times. We've tried making low-carb tortillas time and
time again and we've just failed. But finally, yesterday, I was able to find a recipe that I
think is worthy sharing with you guys. So let's get down to business and let me show you how to
make these low-carb tortillas. For this low-carb tortilla recipe, all you need is egg whites. So
we decided to make it easier on us and we just got pure egg whites so we don't waste the yolks.
And we looked at the ingredients and it says 100% liquid egg whites. So we would recommend these
if you want to make this recipe and not waste the yolks. We're going to start with one third
cup of coconut flour. Then to that, we are going to add a fourth a teaspoon baking powder and just
mix that around. Then we are going to add eight egg whites. I know that sounds like a lot but
that's why we got that just pure egg white. Three-fourths cup is four so we're just going to do
two of those and that is eight large eggs. And at this point you can give it a stir.
If you have a hand mixer, you could also use that. So as I mentioned, we have had several attempts at
this low-carb tortilla recipe and had many failures but we have been successful and this
is the best low-carb tortilla recipe we've tried and come across. It's really easy and quick to
make and they come out really thin and they're extremely pliable. They're great for fajitas,
they're great for tacos, they're great for just snacking on. Okay so we have this mixture right
here and we're also going to add some water to it. Another thing I love about this is that it's
really really low calorie. We're using egg whites and water and just a very small amount of coconut
flour. You can make these just plain or we like to add a little seasoning. So we're just going to
eyeball some garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder to give it some flavor. So let's also
throw in a pinch of salt so those other flavors come through. That's it. That looks good. So you
really want, as you can see it's very liquidy, a liquid mixture like this. All right let's let's
cook these. You can also make these any size you want depending on the size of your pan. We're
going to go the small route and make little tacos with them like we used to get in San Francisco.
So the key here is to drop a little in the middle and then as quick as possible turn the pan so you
can thin it out over the entire surface because you want a thin tortilla. You don't want a thick
pancake. So we're going to do that right now. Let's see if we can get it right on the first time.
You can always add. You can't take away. This induction burner is just not ideal for
cooking tortillas. You can see it start to bubble up a little. It's a good sign.
Look at that. Looks exactly like a tortilla. Another good thing about these is that since
we're using such little coconut flour the taste is very subtle. So whatever spices you put in
you'll definitely get that flavor picked up. It's not going to be like a strong eggy or coconutty
pancake. It's actually like a tortilla. So if you stuff it with shrimp, steak, sour cream, guac, you're
going to be eating a real taco. You're going to be back in Mexico. Oh look at this side. All right we
got one done. So I'm going to finish off the rest of these and then we'll be back and I'll try one
for you. See you soon. So we have a big stack of tortillas right here. The tortilla batter we made
made 17 tortillas. Look at them. They're perfect. They're even good for cats. So I'm going to try
one. This is actually the first one we made and I feel like when you let it sit longer it becomes
more like a tortilla. It's thin. You want as thin as possible. It's perfect. So you can roll it up
into a burrito, into a taco. Perfect. I can tell you that it's not a pancake. After several failed
attempts we've perfected the low carb tortilla. Make yourself some tortillas, fajitas, tacos. Do it up.
So don't forget to subscribe and keep staying tuned for some awesome recipes. We'll see you soon.
No she's sleeping in a tray though so she wants to be cooked in the oven.
