Today, I tried the Lift Run Shoot routine. Lift for the body, run for the mind, shoot for the soul. Stay shatterproof, my friends. HELPFUL LINKS BELOW 👇🏽
You know, I was thinking doctors should be able to prescribe this.
I can't think of a better way to spend the day.
This is a terrible idea.
Here's the problem with people like me.
A lot of people get Cam Haines wrong.
Cam Haines recorded his first Lyft run shoot 11 years ago.
I think it's something everybody should do.
Here's a day of Lyft run shoot, Kramer Hammond style.
Callie headed to work early this morning, so I got the boys.
I'll get up, I'll have some quiet time, knock out some work, and then we'll head to the gym.
Sure. Alright, we're finally on our way.
Those parents out there know that sometimes it's harder to get the kids loaded in the car than the workout is itself.
I gotcha, I gotcha.
But we made it.
We made it.
After an hour Lyft, I hit the sauna and then do some busy work for another hour.
Someone's trying to spam us or blackmail us or something, leaving a ton of bad reviews.
It's not gonna work.
Fake accounts, made up names, not a customer.
Google generally will take those down.
Alright, so I got the boys home.
We did a little swap-a-roo and I'm headed to the office now.
I'm gonna get a little work done before we go out for our run.
Those of you who follow know that I make all my own bows.
And I am reviving the Will It Bow series and making a bow out of snowskis right now.
So we're gonna go work on that a little bit and then head out to the mountain.
If you were to map out the perfect day, lifting weights, going on a decent run, and then shooting your bow,
we're gonna go run Cheyenne Mountain today.
We're going up five miles and then we'll come back down five miles.
It should be pretty difficult. The one rule is no injuries.
You know what I'm thinking?
I'm tempted to make it a half marathon and just make it to the top.
We got the time.
It's supposed to be a long run.
Kaz is gearing up.
That's all.
Here's the problem with people like me.
I get this little itty-bitty idea in my mind.
Oh, I'm doing 10 miles. Maybe I should do a half marathon and get all the way up there.
And then you can't get that idea of your thought because you know you're capable.
Plus, today's like the right day to do it.
So I think I'm gonna go for a half marathon.
Basically, I'm just gonna run up the mountain and then come back down.
So going left and right?
Yeah.
All right. I'll meet you up there at that spot.
5 miles.
Nice.
This is just beautiful.
It doesn't get better than this.
Wow.
We made it.
6.7 miles in.
That's Colorado Springs.
The peak is just a poke away.
But we're not gonna be able to quite make it today.
I don't want to run out of daylight.
I want to go shoot the bow.
Here's a cool lesson I learned from Cam seven years ago.
A lot of people get campaigns wrong.
What most people don't recognize is that he's average.
And he's admitted this himself.
He's not extra skilled necessarily in any area.
But he's had exceptional discipline for such a long period of time.
He can do unbelievable things.
And that's inspiring to me because I'm average.
That means I could maybe do something great if I'm relentlessly consistent and disciplined.
When you see someone doing something great,
don't make excuses of why you can't do that great thing.
Instead of making excuses,
realize that they're proof that you could do something great whatever that field is.
Consistency and discipline go pretty stinking far.
Even if you're mediocre like me.
Let's get it.
This run today.
The reason I'm so excited about it is because of where I'm coming from.
I started running nine months ago.
I've run four half marathons.
Today will be my fifth ever.
And that's the furthest distance I've ever ran.
I'm training for further.
But last time I ran this mountain five months ago,
I stopped three miles back because I couldn't keep running.
So it's from where I'm coming from.
This isn't a great achievement in the running world.
But in my life, I'm very excited about this.
So let's zip our way back down this mountain.
Let's go.
I took the long way.
And Kaz was supposed to take the short way and meet me here.
I've got one mile left.
And phones are dying and I don't see him.
He either skipped it and is waiting at the car.
Actually, it just dawned on me knowing Kaz.
He found some mule deer or he found some elk and he's filming them right now.
I can almost guarantee that.
Let's finish this last mile out.
Yeah.
13.3.
Nice.
All right, let's get changed and go shoot.
We just wrapped up a fantastic run.
We got to see a lot of deer and wildlife, which is awesome.
Now we're going for the best part of the day.
We're going to see if we can do a 100 yard shot with the traditional bow.
Hit the balloon, just like Kam's been doing recently with his guest.
I thought it'd be a fun challenge, especially with a trad bow.
So we'll see what we can do and how many shots it takes us.
So if you're unfamiliar, a traditional bow and a compound bow are completely different.
And the speeds of the arrows are going completely different.
This right here is 10 yards, a very common distance for traditional.
That's 20 yards.
Very common.
But when you get out to 30 yards, not a whole lot of people go that far for traditional.
40, you're a sniper.
You go all the way.
I mean, Kaz is, what in the world is he doing?
100 yards, he's going out to 100 yards to set this up.
I think we'll be able to hit this.
It's just going to be just judging how high to shoot.
And the horizon's not too tall.
I don't got any big trees.
So when I raise up, I'm just in the blue sky.
So it's going to be guessing quite a bit.
But we'll see how good we can do.
The grass is so tall, I can't even see the balloon.
I can't see it. There you go.
I'm sitting there chilling, thinking to myself, I got this.
And then looking at where the balloon's at.
This is a terrible idea.
I only got like 20 minutes, so we'll see.
All right, we're taking a shot down at the balloon, 100 yards.
To the right.
That's it.
Oh!
Getting some extra work in.
Oh, I thought that one was it.
I feel like I kind of have an idea now.
A little right, I think.
All right, the mic died, but we're going to make it work.
Oh, I think I hit the target, didn't I?
It's freezing out here now.
It's getting dark.
But we're going to get this.
Hit the target. Really? Yeah.
Actually, I got this feeling it's going to pop.
Let's go.
There you go, guys.
Oh, we got it! Good shot.
That's a wrap. Keep hammering.
