The STRONGEST deadlifters on the planet | ROAD TO 505kg powered by Gymshark | EP7
Nov 26, 2023 #Bodymetaphysics
We are here in Cardiff, Wales for one of the most amazing events of the Strongman season.
We have 12 of the strongest athletes in the world competing in five events.
Event number one is the Deadlift World Championships.
Event number two, the Dumbbell Clean and Press Ladder.
Event number three, the Load and Push.
Event number four, the Wrecking Ball Hold.
And event number five, the Castle Stones.
We've won the World Deadlift Championships.
My aspirations for this, I am going to pull 1,000 pounds again.
I've done it in 2021.
My training has been on point.
I feel strong, I feel healthy, and I feel angry.
1,000 pounds is falling.
The jumps are going to be 400, 430, 1,000 pounds, 470, and then 505.
So let's see if anybody's got what it takes to break the deadlift world record.
You have to pick it up from a dead stop.
Most people will be shocked to try to pick up 1,000 pounds off the ground, because the
moment you feel it in any tug and it pulls you back down, they'll probably give up on
it.
Deadlift, 505 kilo.
This is goal that I have been pursuing for more than five years.
Deadlift with 300 kilos.
My name is Rebecca Roberts.
I'm 28 from Bangor, North Wales, and I am the 2021 World's Strongest Woman.
I've already pulled 310 kilograms, and I know that I'm going to be that first woman to pull
700 pounds without a doubt.
Lucy on the down with a new world record.
It's incredible to be able to compete against Lucy, because she is known as the deadlift
queen.
She's done an incredible deadlift, and because of that, she's helped me improve my deadlift.
She did a 300 kilo deadlift, so I was like, why can't I?
I'm excited.
She's broken down the barriers now, and I'm ready to push them to another level.
Here we go, Wales.
Sets herself.
No, it's not to hit that pole.
Yeah!
World record, 700 pounds.
Lucy on the down has just broken the world record, not once, but twice.
Not once, but twice here.
Event two, the Dumbbell Ladder.
We have five dumbbells in 10 kilo increments, going from 80 to 120.
I actually would like a little bit of redemption from the Strongman Classic last year.
I had an injury, kind of forced me to underperform on this event, so I'm looking to really push
the pace.
Dumbbell is one that I'm most excited about.
Ladies and gentlemen.
I think it's one that, you know, I tore my tricep back in 2020, so coming back on log
press has been a little bit difficult, but what I've been able to do in that time is
really shift my focus on my dumbbell clean and press.
And it's been a really, really strong event for me since then, and I think it's one I'm
planning on winning this weekend.
Representing the United States of America, Rob King.
Off we go, and both men quick to the shoulder.
Real efficiency there from Rob.
He's had over 200 kilograms overhead with a log before, so him moving onto these dumbbells
right now like this is looking awfully comfortable, but look who's creeping up in the right hand
lane now.
Stoltman, side by side, neck and neck, onto 110 kilograms for both these athletes.
Massive overhead lifters, as Aaron said there, and nothing to choose between them until this
dumbbell, and Keowney gets it.
Oh, that's great.
From Stoltman and he moves forward.
One, 20.
15 seconds left.
Both these get just on 110.
Here comes 120 for one final clean and push.
Keowney to the shoulder first.
Five seconds.
Here we go.
Singleton's so explosive.
Hainluck will try to hang with him, and you can see that confidence, Aaron.
Biggest thing right now with Evan, these are toy weights.
He's just got to stay calm and composed through those first three.
Then when he starts getting into something that's a little bit more work, you can see,
look how smooth he is on that.
Tremendous effort there from Singleton.
Hainluck steady away just behind him, but the regs making the running right now, and
there's the down signal again for the American.
He moves to the 120-kilogram dumbbell and hits it hard.
Here we go.
Can he finish the lift here?
Evan, the T-Rex Singleton fighting to get it.
Hainluck, one dumbbell back, and Singleton looks at the time, not tonight, and felt that
one.
The rules are pretty simple.
You can clean the dumbbell with two hands, but you've got to press it with one.
That opening bell is 80 kilograms.
Bell number two, 90 kgs for the pole.
90 is good.
On to 100.
Oscar good at 100 kgs.
Bell number four, 110 kilograms.
Only three men have finished this course before.
Will he join that crowd at number four, 120 kgs?
Ladies and gentlemen, Oscar Jankowski.
Wow.
Completes the dumbbell ladder.
What a way to start that event.
Event three, the load and push.
We have three implements varying in shapes, size, and distances.
We need to grab each one.
We need to load it into a wheelbarrow, and then we need to go around to the other side
of the wheelbarrow, and run that wheelbarrow as fast as we can across the finish line.
We are on the way, and Singleton explodes down the course.
As that train in there, up he goes to the tire.
Kearney tracking him hard.
Now, Aaron, we've seen that measured approach pay off.
Who do you like here?
100 kgs on the shoulder like this.
Look at Singleton just plowing along.
Right now, Ghana's in the lead with 53.6 seconds.
We'll see if these boys can take that time down.
Singleton hammers that down.
Goes around to the barrel.
Needs to keep it together.
Composure is king.
Kearney right behind him.
And Kearney starts to accelerate, but Singleton knows that he has the edge,
and it's the two.
No turn with the wind.
We are on the way, and both men quick over the ground.
Gilkoski trying to catch Stoltman.
Stoltman secures that grip and experience counting for the Scott.
As he heads down, grabs the tire, and he's already on his way back down the course, Aaron.
That 120 kg safe really set the tone right out of the beginning.
You saw the experience of Stoltman, and he knew where to cradle it.
It's a popular implement both in Giants Live and World's Strongest Man.
Right now, 130 kg in that sack.
Look at Luke go.
Here comes Gilkoski trying to track him, but it's Stoltman already on the barrel.
And down the course he goes.
Luke behind the nose.
Stoltman accelerating now.
And there he is.
Stoltman is over the line.
Straight to Dave Hall.
A general attack.
Gilkoski.
Easy.
What?
Count me out.
Event four, the Wrecking Ball hold.
Notorious for having a pretty decent grip.
I think that I'm going to be able to stick it out and fight the pain a lot more than some of the other guys on the roster.
All in all, I think this should be a very good event for me, and I am, again, going to be challenging for the win.
On the way we go.
And both men hit the lip.
Flowers and Austin Andrade.
You can see Shane Flowers trying to focus elsewhere.
Think about his son.
Andrade is down, and now Flowers gets an opportunity to test himself here in Cardiff.
As the clock rages towards the minute, Shane Flowers dinks in.
And it is going to 1-0-1 or 3-0-4.
It's counted up, and 1-0-4 at least there looks to be.
You can see them both just settling to find where that happy place is.
Do your best to ignore what's happening to your body right now.
Nama choosing to look straight forward and just put his mind elsewhere.
Kiernik blocking out the pain, closed his eyes, looks down.
He is. He knows that that 1-0-5 is the mark to beat.
He wants to see that clock tick away right now.
Look at his desire.
He has the lead.
Ladies and gents, let's check in.
On the way we go.
Both men hit the top of the lift, Aaron, and start to put their mind elsewhere.
The highlander, Stoltman.
The T-Rex, Evan Singleton.
Look at the platform.
Luke Stoltman is digging in like never.
Evan Singleton.
His mind is crisply focused elsewhere.
And he is dug in hard.
And the clock still ticks.
1-0-5, 1-0-6 and counting.
And the Rex is focused.
There's the lead for the T-Rex.
And Evan Singleton rules his authority.
Stamps his authority onto this event.
Singleton came here with bad intentions.
And the American is on fire.
The fifth and final event is the Castle Stones.
Essentially grabbing the biggest stones that they have.
And we're throwing them up onto the platform. Fastest time wins.
I'm pretty good at stones.
And I'm not going to win this event. There's some great guys here.
But if you're on the podium and want to stay there, or if you're getting close to the podium,
this is your last chance to grab as many points as possible.
So just got to go balls out and try not to make no mistakes.
I am here to win.
And remind every single person who either doubted me or forgot about me,
who the T-Rex really is.
We are on the way again.
Little slip on the start from Kearny.
But Flowers accelerates that grade to high.
But look at Kearny reading in there.
Flowers on to Shaw.
We are on the way and Belton explodes into that first ball.
Nara right there with him.
But has to reset it as Belton is on the tear and hits three quickly.
Here's the fourth coming from the giant Welshman.
And he's up to five.
Steadied himself and starts to attack it now.
Little adjustment but there it is.
Absolutely explodes into that one.
And you can see what it meant to the Welshman.
He raises up, Stoltzman first.
And the second is also a slight pimple.
But he moves to the third and is accelerating.
The Stoltzman trying and trying to get himself into the podium and stay there.
Good ball is out.
But what a goal from the Welshman.
Totti comes from a few issues and he really adjusts.
I knew what I was going to do when I came here.
And I told every single one of you.
I told all of you.
A thousand pounds.
Win.
Achievement.
Stoltzman.
Stoltzman gets the win here at the Stoltzman Open.
The events were pretty good.
I think I was quite consistent to a lot of them.
The deadlift was tough.
I didn't get a thousand pounds.
But scored some amazing points.
And then just took my stride from there.
So I fought to the end.
I'm pretty good at stones.
Coming second is not too bad.
I'm very, very happy with that.
And obviously to qualify for the world's.
That's just the cherry on top of the cake.
I can't believe that.
I'm so, so happy.
